This is not slang; it's the vernacular - Arabic as spoken by the people who live in the Levant (بلاد الشام), which means Palestine, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. The vocabulary is simple and the rhymes pleasing, and so they are easy to learn and remember. They are set to music very close to tunes used traditionally by the folk of the region. The DVDs and books can be found at alsalwabooks along with many children's stories written in classical Arabic.
Salams, i'm learning arabic now and i was looking for some nursery rhymes for me to master the language fast. Pardon me for asking but isn't This pronounced as 'Haza'? Or is 'Heek' another slang of saying 'This'?
@rappermisha Great news that you're learning Arabic! Good luck with that :). Here's a translation but it's not word for word: This is the way fish swim / This is the way birds fly / This is the way the wheels turn / This is the way children clap / clap clap small hands / tomorrow early in the morning/ we'll pick some roses and jasmine / tralalalala...(repeat)
Hope this helps! If you're interested in reading more Arabic books check out our website
Thanks for your comment, and in reference to it, you're right it is in slang but these Arabic Nursery Rhymes are meant to make the Arabic language appealing to young children so that they learn to love the Arabic language by engaging them in short rhythmic songs, preparing them to read Arabic books in the future. They are the baby's first introduction to the language, which will get them to learn some new vocabulary and simply enjoy listening to songs in their own language.
