This movie should have been bigger than it was :/

Scream 1 was the best (nothing can top that original opening scene).. 2nd was really good too, 3rd one sucked, 4th was almost as good as the 2nd, it had some decent laughs and a nice ending, but I thought the opening sequence was silly and it wasn't as thrilling as 1 and 2 cos it was too jokey and didn't take itself seriously at all (which isn't always a good thing cos you end up not caring about the characters)... overall I'd say:

Scream - 8

Scream 2 - 7

Scream 3 - 4

Scream 4 - 6.5

i dont agree with any comments saying that none were as good as the first and 3 was the worst. none were less than perfect. these movies are all perfectly made and they all are as good as each other.

truly terrible movie, not scary or funny with some horrible acting. how are there so many positive reviews of this? Scream was great, Scream 2 was very good, Scream 3 was bad, and Scream 4 is even worse.

each to their own but how a professional critic can give this film a B+ is beyond me. the original Scream had a STORY. it wasn't just a bunch of self referential jokes. These movies are indeed a satire on the genre but Scream 4 ignored the substance that made the first 2 films good. the Jill and Charlie twist was painful. instead of a decent revenge motive (admittedly only so many people can want revenge on her) Jill was just a nutty bitch who envied her cousin who has been through hell.

The movie was too much of a remake and a reboot of the first one, it started off the same way a Phone rings, someone picks up and u know the rest,then also another example once again they have a party and gale goes in and puts cameras in hidden places just like the one expect this time there more then just one camera. they have have a few bits and pieces of the 2nd and 3rd..the movie didnt stick out 2 me like the original i guess because it was more original

George Lucas is a terrible director who relies WAY TOO much on special effects and milks his franchise as much as possible in order to make more money. He didn't have anyone challenging him to make major changes in his star wars prequels like he was challenged when making the first star wars movies and that's why the prequels are so terrible. So my question is, how the hell is Wes Craven "the George Lucas of slasher flicks?"

@TheRealRichardRoeper i've liked all the Scream movies (third is definitely weakest) and the fourth one is certainly no exception. they've never really been about the actual storylines, (interesting at points, but ultimately not main focus) but really more about the self-referential dialogue which acknowledges the fact that Horror is somewhat dying and yet shows how these are an exception. Scream: A-, Scream 2: B+, Scream 3: B-, Scream 4: B or B+. what kinds of grades you give the other films?

I saw Scream 4 some hours ago... It is actually really good... Love how brutal Ghostface is in this one... The opening is HILARIOUS and the ending is quite clever ... Will deffinetly recommend people to watch it - I'm going back for sure :P
