  • why is sarun bald.....

  • This needs a dvd release...

  • I saw the Toronto show, the second performance ever :) It was amazing! So much so that watching this video brought tears to my eyes... knowing I will never be able to see this again makes me so sad.

  • soooo so sad this didnt come to Australia :'(

  • Omg is Saruman the guy with the fluffy beard and a line on his bald head? :O

  • Does anybody know if the two songs in this video are on the Original London Production soundtrack? If so what are they called?

Any help would be appreciated :)

  • @bansheeharraser69 The first song is "The Siege of the City of Kings," but the second song is not on the London Production soundtrack.

  • i think gollum should be more scary sounding...recast him as me i can do scary:D

  • where can i find when there coming to new york???!?!?!

  • I wanna kill myself knowing there's just no chance for this to come to Mexico in the 2011 World Tour. I'm happy if it at least goes to the US though! AND RELEASES DVDs!!!!!!!

  • I hope they come to New York in the world tour this year.

  • the reason it didnt continue is because it was extreamly expensive. Im very very sad it didnt because its a finominal show and absolutly stunning music

  • Is there a dvd of the musical?

I have the Cast Album from London, there are only pictures on the DVD.

  • gollum was epic!

  • im sorry...but i think that this trailer butchers everything good about lord of the rings....

but then again i dont particularly like musical shows and the like

  • Holy mother of nngh. How much I want to see this. Tears of joy just at this trailer.

  • If ever there was a piece of artwork to truly represent the wonder, beauty and truth of Tolkien's masterpiece, then this is it.

  • i saw it in london but i didnt thought it was that good, they have done it good but it is to slow think that avenueq, we will rock you or spamelot is one of the best

  • I saw it in Toronto and loved it!

    Don't know why it flopped!

  • i feel like this would do well in vegas...

  • @CancerousPiesRTasty

I can see all the drag queens playing Galadriel now. XD XD XD

  • i wonder how they did the bigger monsters in the play, like the watcher, the blarog, and shelob?

  • @Stu0894 The Balrog was a HUGE creature that I dunno how they worked and Shelob was another big creature that was handled by nearly invisible people moving like a collective. Im not sure what the Watcher was. I'm getting this from a review I read and a clip of the Balrog I saw.

  • is there a soundtrack yet? cuz i really want it if there is

  • @theatergeeksjk24601 there is a soundtrack for the play

  • this musical was amazing!!! too bad it never came to the U.S. :( if it did i would have def. gone to see it a second time.

  • @astinoslover2 it's doing a World Tour this year

  • I have a question to those of y'all who havegotten to see the show, how many intermissions are there and where in the story are they?

  • @sprigelf2000 There is an intermission (where you can go to the toilet, buy drinks etc) between Fellowship and Two Towers, and another between TT and RotK, but this one the orcs are running around the aisles scaring the crap out of you for five minutes and you can't leave your seat.

  • I seen this in London and it was absolutely amazing, want to see it again!

  • this show is an insult to musical theatre...overpriced piece of crap!

  • @dunkus42 Your a justin beiber fan :D

  • @standimitri Actually he's right. The Toronto Production was a piece of crap ... and that's the nicest description I saw of it. They tore the show apart before bringing it to London and improved it to no end. London production is definitely better,

  • Where can i go to watch the musical i cant find it any where? Thanks

  • @Gackt43191 It finished it's run in London in July 08. A UK/Europe tour was rumoured, but seemed to be too costly. It's not currently running anywhere. :-(

  • @Vicster200 Dang....well thanks for telling me

  • @Gackt43191 I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news... I really want to see it again.

  • @Vicster200 Its fine

Again thanks for telling me so i don't have to keep looking for it, its no big deal

  • I want this to come to Broadway so BAD :P

  • @LilttleMoney you..me and 5 million others lol

  • Epic! The music is so amazing. I would pay alot of money to see this; its definately worth it.

  • I will do anything to watch this musical.....

  • Oh, this musical is up amongst the greats that I've seen, along with Lion King and Warhorse. The acting was amazing, the SFX were both scary and epic. The orcs were really well done, and some of the songs were so damn catchy!

If this ever tours again, I highly reccomend it.

  • Well... Actually, LOTR musical will come to Germany on this december. They tell it at their website, go and read from there for more info

  • it was canceled :(... because of financial crysis...

  • The date I am writting this on is September 22, 2009. If anyone knows if this show is going to be performed at any date after this one please tell me ASAP so I can beg my dad to take me no matter what the cost.

  • it says they are preparing a touring production to start in 2011 but no dates as yet are gives or places to be visited.

  • do you noe when its coming to america though ???

  • i saw this in Toronto it was rediculous.

  • when does the musical come to America ?

if anyone has this answer PLEASE contact me on mi profile

  • it is in London right now being remade then its coming back to Toronto

  • Saw the London Production - it is easily one of the best shows ever written... I'm just cofused as to why it hasn't done better than it has... For those of you who never got the chance to see it then I urge you when it goes to Europe or America to indulge yourself in Middle Earth! It is truly astounding!

  • It was actually in Toronto Ontario, Canada.

  • Maybe so - but it opened in London at Drury Lane. They have also announced plans for a German production and are also looking into a Broadway production.

  • A world tour's what I heard. Productions have been done in New Zealand, Australia, and Cologne. Never heard of the Broadway production.

  • @Ken220280 answer is simple because of conan

  • @Ken220280 Didn't they run out of money to show it though? That sucks.

  • @Ken220280 WHAT!!! It's in America!? Where???

  • This looks scary....

    But a GOOD SCARY...

The costumes and sets are amazing...

    And the effects look unreal....

The moving sets remind me of Shrek the mUsical sets......AWESUM

  • Shrek took the revovling stage from The Lord of the Rings Musical set, as Lord of the Rings was before Shrek, but it works amazily for both shows!! i saw Lord of the Rings up in London, this is the Toronto version of the show before the London show...

  • O Yea....I know Shrek took it from this show anyway....Looks gud doesn't it.....Im asking u was the time u saw it in london was it good.....

  • It was Amazing when I saw it... i mean with all the effects made it fantastic!! i mean when they put the ring on, they litterally dissapeared!! with Bilbo at the start he was standing centre stage, the voice said he put the ring on, nd he vanished! it was brilliant though!! same it's closed now...

  • Cool.....he vanished....I wonder how....

o gr8......dats gonna annoy me now....Wonder if ders any videos.....Ill check now.....Thanx 4 ye info......

  • i loveddd rebecca jackson alot more than laura michelle. but im a hige fan of belting soo that might be why.

    either way.

    the show was amazing

  • does anyone know what pieces of music these are?

  • it is composed by a.r.rahman and the band named verrtina

  • Woot, Boromir looks hawd!

  • Saw it in Toronto. Loved it.

  • The London production was better

i know because i saw both london and toronto productions and london was WAY better

  • Comment removed

  • are there big differences?

and where have you seen it?Have you a DVD? I don´t know where to get some record of it , but I´d like to see it...

  • I know it's probably pretty good (I've never seen it or even been to Europe *sob* so I wouldn't know), but why exactly make a musical for it? Isn't Enya's stunning voice enough? Again though I've never seen it so please don't hate me.

  • saw it in London - the best day out of my life!

  • I saw this live in Toronto for school. Watching this gives me goosebumps all over again. I would Definitely buy this on DVD if they released it.

  • if they do bring the dvd out of it, i hope its the one from toronto, because that looks mental, london was good, but toronto looks freakin sweet with some of its effects.

  • I loved London so i would have to disagree. Although i know what you mean. I would have loved to see the army of the dead in the London version. The little clips ive seen of that in a montage vid looks awesome.

  • Go on the go petition website and type in the quick search 'LORD OF THE RINGS STAGE SHOW DVD' and sign the petition to get it released on dvd! When you get the URL, PROMOTE IT!

  • I saw it on the last night of previews in Toronto...they were still trying to get the time down to a managable bit.

Spellbinding. It was overwhelming in music and heart and soul and emotion and vision...maybe too much for the average theatre goer...there were scenes that defied imagination.

And don't even get me started on that zillion-dollar stage...there are no adjectives to describe it. The battle scenes were frick'n amazing.

Probably the best night I have ever spent in the theatre.

  • LOTR musical is the best thing ever!! If u guys haven't seeb it, u better go to London unless you're gonna go see it in Germany (I plan on doing that too, I'm gona try & see it once in every country it goes to on tour!

  • does the end of rotk depress any one else besides me????

  • ...so if you read the silmarillion, you would probably depress to suicide...

  • Not that far I've read it I wasn't too bad.

The end of this vid depresses me because of the sad crying hug thyung and Frodo leaving

  • well, i cried in the film!!!

  • SO did I!

Pretty much as soon as I start to stop crying again I get to a sad part and start crying again!

Luv the movie though it is so amazing!

  • I've seen the london version twice and I really loved. I loved it so much I actually bought the cd not too long ago. The songs are amazing

  • omg the musical is so amazing i saw it a few months ago and im going to see it again 3days before it shuts =[ wish it dnt have to!

  • watch this

    A. R. Rahman best melodies ever

  • yep!!!!

  • i dnt no y, bt ive jst booked a ticket 2 c it, cuz ma mum sed i cod cum 2 london bt nt 2 c wicked (ive seen it 13 times) so i bookd 4 dis, is it any good?? im sat n da stalls on row S is dat gona b ok, or is the circle beta ??

  • Learn to spell.

  • wat ever!!!!

  • nah honestly learn to spell and bull sh*te you've seen wicked 13 times, we had to book tickets 6 months in advance just to get rubbish seats at the back of the stalls so if you have seen it 13 times then you must go and watch it and as soon as you come out then you must book your next set of tickets...so if your're gonna lie then you can at least make it believeable like you have seen wicked 4 times!!!!!!!!!

  • rite wat ever mate!!!! i have seen it 13 times cuz i stayed in london with family for 6 months, n trust me it aint that hard to get a ticket go 2 ticket stalls there all over london!!!! n you can get a good seat for that day, plus ive been on school trips and b-day and christmas presents, n dnt av a go at how i spell does it reali matter, i was just asking a question n i get all this shit,

  • all you ever seem to say is "wat ever" yeah its pathetic! anyway its not possible to have seen a west end show 13 times with out getting slightly board, maybe you've seen it a few times but NO WAY have you seen it 13

  • well mate fink wat u want but if u av seen it den how could u say u can get bored of it!!!!! it's my favourite musical ever so stop having a go at me over something so stupid, you can think wat u want i really really really dont care!!

  • i saw wicked once but i wouldn't go again. Its also one of my favourite musicals but there are 100s more musicals out there. ANYWAY!!!!!! lets just stop arguing over somthing as trivial as this okay? So whos your favourite Elphaba?

  • lol ok!!!! yeah this is really sad lol errrr i would have to say probs kerry but i loved idina but kerry just has that edge lol what about you ?? xx

  • well it has to be Idina...hand down! infact all the origenal cast are fab! execpt the man who played dr dillamond...he does my head in. I went to see wicked a few months ago and i loved it but elphaba was casady janson and he was amazing!

  • oh right cool, well i think that any one who has seen wicked loves either kerry or idina, n i saw cassidy janson on the 5th april she is good but not as good as kerry or idina, so i take it you saw Dianne Pilkington then what did you think of her?? xx

  • she sounded sooooo much like kristen chenoweth it was scray lol, bt i fot she was really good apart from her harmony in for good, it was a little bit off

  • Is it really so hard to put fucking vowels in your words?

  • Next there's going to be a lotr's on ice.

  • REALLY?!!

  • no not really, but it would be funny, me and my friend where thinking about how funny it would be though, then the musical came out a week later.

  • was that chow yun fat (the dude for crouching tiger hiiden dragon) as suaramom(sp) in the beginning??

  • music by indian maestro ar rahman

  • OMG that poor stage manager.

  • lol yea.... talk about literally a million things to worry about

  • IDK why, but the idea of a singing, dancing Gandalf is one that strikes me odd... all the same, it looks semi entertaining...

  • I saw this play when it was in Toronto and I loved it! I wish it could come back, I'd hapily pay double the $60 I spent on my ticket to see it again!

  • does anyone know were to buy the soundttrack? i cant find it any were online or at any store. i live in the usa in california.

  • u can buy it on amazon uk.

  • Is there any chance that this musical ever will come to sweden? :o

  • Oh, they have to come to Oslo! I can barly wait to see it!

  • The lighting is very good.

  • i love the Lord of the Rings play. IT WAS AWSOME!!

  • i have seen this.. when i was with my school to a london trip we went 2 this musical... cool he

  • I saw this in November and it was BRILLIANT! Obviously you can't really get it from seeing clips. Like every musical you just need to be there in the atmosphere of the theatre.

For anyone wondering, the original Toronto production included Theoden, Eowyn and Eomer and the Helm's Deep battle, but they cut it for the London show because it was making the show far too long.

  • Noooo, argh thats annoying!! Going to see it next weekend, I would have sat through an extra half hour, as im sure any LOTR fan would :D

  • Stupid America!!! I really want to see this musical, the whole thing.

  • wat battles are there then n wat about the spider

  • well i must say that they are stupid cause i saw the london production. I was wandering y they were missing parts and people.

  • i just saw the london performance twice in 2 nights, if you think back - king theoden is in the show for a very short period of time. the first time when strider reveals who he really is to gimli, legolas and theoden and then theoden is back for the fighting

  • It's soooooooooooooo cool go and see it! I

went 2 see it 4 my bday and I luved it! goin to see it again in April!

  • I'd love to see this sometime in Germany... :)

  • gymnocephalus:

Me too! They're talking about showing it in Cologne, fall 09 (for three years). Then they will show it all around Europe. I can't wait!

  • the music for dis was by a tamil guy from southerin india called a.r rahman hes one of the biggest music direcotor in the world

  • impressive *_*

  • I know the man who plays Saruman. Rick is a good friend of my dad. If you want to hear his AWESOME singing voice, search for 'Mikado Stratford Young Man Despair', he's wonderful. And a really good cook, too. :)

  • Jesus!

    I want to see it!

  • wtf is on sauroman's nose? and why does Bilbo look like Bozo? why are the orcs on stilts? why does galadriel have a humongoginormous headdress? these are questions i ask myself.

  • Dude.. Broadway isint good enought for your taste.

  • I wish that stayed in Toronto I would have seen it again

  • Long Live LotR!

  • I loved that musical! I saw it in London, okay they missed bits out (like the entire second book - well, basically) but they did have to. It was squashed into about two-three hours. I loved it to bits and I have to see it again with my friends!

Note: The guy who plays Frodo was so hot! (Or maybe that was just me) I can't tell if it was the Frodo in this video though.

The best bit about the entire thing though had to be the dancing orcs. You have not lived until you have seen dancing orcs!

  • so the london version is just a copy of what they did in torronto..?

  • London's version is Toronto's version, evolved.

Toronto's version was raved by fans of the books, but got mixed reviews from critics.

They made it more widely understandable, and shipped it off to London.

  • ooh...

    i get it now

    amazing show still

  • Apparently it was shortened a lot.

  • of course the films are like 2 hrs long each. they would have to shorten it

  • A six hour musical... Deadly. I meant from the Toronto version, apparently that was a six hour musical.

  • OMG that well long, I would have had a num bum!!!

  • Who wouldn't? I would have got bored. But *ah* the London one was a dream! *obsessed*

  • the show was almost three hours

    not six.... lol

  • I saw it in Toronto and loved it, I would LOVE to see it again. It was to bad that so much got left out but I guess if it's all three books wrapped up in one performance that's inevitable. I give it a 10/10!!!

  • iam german , and i see the musical on a class tour in london wow that was really great, wish there comes a dvd

  • dear god why cant it come to broadway soon!

  • I loved this musical...when i was in Toronto i saw it and then when it came to london me and my mum went to see it together. i thought it was brill! Hopefully seeing it with some friends in october:D

  • My gosh. I saw this show twice in Toronto, and I would see it over and over if I could. All things considered, it is the best stage version of LOTR that you could ever hope for. And I'm confused as to why Brent Carver keeps getting bad feedback. His Gandalf was original, quirky, touching, and sweet. His sly smile and twinkling eyes were engaging and gave a refreshing take on the typical-Ian-McKellen-style of wizard. Different, yes. Bad, or not-in-character? Heck no! So there. :)

  • this play was not that good.. at least it wasn't as bad as the recent Phantom of the Opera that played in Toronto.

  • from wat i heard, yes i think it is

  • is it like all the movies in one??

  • Overall, it was well done. The only thing that took away from the whole production were some of the casting choices: Brent Carver left alot to desire.

Knowing some of the cast made it an even more enjoyable experience. Saruman was especially terrifying!

  • i was there at the time and thoes men in tye masks were so scary when they came up to us!

  • It looks like it's awfully fun for the actors....

  • God, I hope this comes to a city where I can see it, I don't care how bad it is when it gets there!!!

  • well it cost 25 million pounds so maybe not goona happen but i hope it does

  • the one coming out in london is gonna be much better dude

  • I heard it didn't do too well in Toronto I think i'm going to see it in London It looks great though

  • The orks look like Raz'ack

  • The site he's talking about has nothing to do with LOTR nor does it show anything. He's posting on every single clip to promote his website. It's crap.

  • oh man, i didn't even know something like this even existed...still, the music kicks ass!!

  • yeah. the music is by ar rahman for India. Really cool man!

  • well i think that part where is singing. its by Finnish folk music band Värttinä.

but is the other part made of the Indian guy?

  • check out the program and other stuff on theatre247 online

  • what's the address for the site? it doesn't come up when i google it

  • if its the online tv channel you're talking about theatre247 dot tv. youtube doesnt allow you to write out the full url

  • The Toronto version is better then the London one cause they have scenes that London didn't have. But I would change some of the people just basically put it together. Does anyone have the full recording of the show?

  • one word magnificent

  • Awsome, kick ass music, amazing vocals from the Wood elves. Cant wait to c it in Dury Lane!

  • it was amazing. simply amazing!! and the songs were just breathtaking.

  • pure genius

  • In al honesty this seems interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing it. But I think if this comes to the US it's not gonna do that good. But you'll never know I could be wrong

  • I've never seen this and I don't know to much about it but it seems like a really bad combonation, musical theater and Lord of the Rings? I don't know.

  • I don't know... I had to sit through one musical adaptation of the hobbit.... and let me tell you, that was not pleasant. XP

  • The great Tamil music artist A.R.Rehman has composed the music.

  • I'm already booked for May in london, can't wait!!!

  • have you been to it yet? Tell me how it went. I want to go soon, but im not sure.

  • hey mate, it was great. 3 hours so wasn't borin at all unlike d one in toronto wherein it apparently ran for 4 hours. the effects were spectacular. Recommended!

  • I loved this show. I'm so glad I was able to make it to Toronto to see it while it lasted.
