@tomhansford first time users need to get their basics right so the kit lens is good enough for learning purpose. After that they need to decide what type of photography they want to get into and select lenses accordingly ( like wide angle lenses for landscapes, macro lenses for macro shots, zoo lenses for wildlife.... ). Canon offers supreme quality lenses in their L series of lenses but they are very expensive :-(

at 0.08, how did you focus it like that? I'm looking to buy this camera but there isn't one good video! Also, canon you pick the focus points and manual focus it? lastly, if you take a picture against a window, does it show the glare or does it have a built in polarizing filter-thing inside?

@iraniandrummer97 Hi there! Manual focus is the best to achieve a great video presentation. Also, editing the video during post processing is also equally important. Most of all, we should explore the features available in our camera(s) and that is the best way to learn/understand the capabilities of our equipment/camera/or any other photographic equipment.

If not you're doomed with stacking, flickering and blurring.

@zloo6 It's very well possible, they're only not telling you they used some lenses of which the cheapest probably is three times as expensive as the original kit itself.

The duck shot at 1:07 is undoubtedly shot at a focal length of at least 400 mm, which doesn't come cheaper than for $1700 (100-400L).

This is amazing. For years I have wanted to dive into the world of Digital SLR Cameras, but feared the complications, the pricing, and I needed Video recording as well. This just seems to be the best Entry Level Camera and I will buy Canon EOS 1100D! I am so excited to buy my first ever DSLR ever! :D

@serebigander Well Canon 1000D body goes for 334 EUR, while 1100D is 449 EUR. That's like 35% more. And only real thing you get is 720p video, but they still don't say if it 's fully automatic?

It will be useless for the enthusiasts then.

Generally from the samples I've seen I like pictures from 1000D better.

@cronnin what are you talking about. the T3 has so much more than the T2... not only HD, you also have 100-6400 ISO compared to the 100-1600 ISO. You have 12.2MP compared to 10MP. A new Digic 4 processor, T2 d. 3. there is a lot of features added to the T3 that the T2 is missing, not talking about the 2.7" screen compared to the 3.5". inform yourself before posting something you dont know about

I don't want ISO6400, I want old sensor back. Bigger screen, but same 270 KPix.Huh. Prosumers these days have >400KPix LCD resolution.

you can do it with any lens on the market these days, its called manual focus, which you set the lense to and then twist the adjuster on the lens, hope this helps

But 500D doesn't have full manual control over the video.

Can't do AF during video (not sure that 1100D can?), and it doesn't have a real 1080p.

1100D should come with a new IS 2 kit.

500D has not so much bigger LCD area, but it's resolution is 3x better which is nice.

550D is like 2x more expensive than 1100D it's not for comparison.
