  • omg I love it sooo much !! I wish this song could be played on the radio :)

  • Love it.

  • awesome

    one of high voltage's highlight

  • 1:00 Jurassic park theme song?

  • Why are you people listening to the radio? you noobs dont have mp3 players and knowledge of piratebay/demonoid????

  • @sandweged

Advertising it is the reason things are they way they are.

  • @Coola34234 advertising what is the reason what is the way it is?

  • And God said: I've done it. Let's call .....music

  • This is my 2nd favorite sp song. The first one is of course the light.

  • Not just SB - This is one of the best progrock tunes EVER..

  • Thanks for uploading! What a great song!

  • I know Neal went full blown Christian, I was just wondering was this song written pre or post that occasion. Just curious, I don't care what his or your views of God are... I am more curious of what exactly it is, that inspires such beautiful music!!

  • this song made cry. one of sb best songs indeed

  • Kinda awesome to hear some real music. Just came from a Kesha vid lol

  • Let me tell you, I listen to music 24/7 but not once have I ever almost literally fainted while listening to a song, 9:30 to 9:40, that 10 seconds was just..... I mean listening to the song from 00:00, all the way to 9:30 to that 10 seconds is just absolutely amazing, Spocks Beard, Neal Morse, everybody, give them a round of applause.

  • HAH, This has no "Dislikes"..TAKE THAT JUSTIN BIEBER, LADY GAGA, MILEY CYRUS(OR HANNAH MONTANA) AND THE LOT

  • Freakin' amazing AWESOME song!

  • great band...thank you for posting! long live prog!

  • The beginning is a synthesised Jurrasic Park themetune...

  • This is music.

  • @dbroeman Well said, and I wish that many more people could relize that.

  • Great Prog band!!!!! Thank you for posting...and thank you Spock's Beard!!!

  • Wow, they still make good music. Thanks for posting. I am hooked.

  • This reminds me a lot of Jethro Tull.....not the sound so much as the arrangement.

  • Well I've just discovered Spock's Beard, and now I'm completely hooked.

    Thanks for the pills Neo.

  • I can't say this is the best song I have ever heard. It's because I would love to say it about many Spock's beard songs.

  • this is good stuff...listen and learn...

  • why do

people listen to crap...because they dont know better....they just dont get it ..poor bastards

  • @waynedrumpal...They are not hearing an alternative to the crap. Progressive rock needs all of it's fans to help advertise it and expose it to people. We know what's real...millions of ears will know what is real also....but they need to hear it. They need to know that there is something out there that is real

  • I listened to this not much expecting to like it. "Neo-prog. Pshhhhhh King Crimson or Genesis'll kick these guys' asses!" But I actually quite like it! Surprisingly well-written! Will check out more.

  • @MasterYumyums

Before I started listening to Spock's Beard, I felt the exact same way. Then I listened to their album The Light and had pretty much the same reaction you just did. Check out that, Beware of Darkness, Kindness of Strangers, V, and Snow. They were released before their lead songwriter, Neal Morse left the band. It's a pity they aren't the same without him, he's an incredibly talented musician and songwriter. his solo stuff is really good though, although its super christian...

  • @MasterYumyums Sorry, but this is no neo-prog, it's just retro symphnoic rock. IQ and Marillion are neo-prog: you'll hear the difference right away;)

  • @JeffELOLynne are you sure its not Neo retro symphonic rock ?

  • @Gookbuster1 The term "retro" already implies that it's not original but a neo-style of something, so you can't say neo-retro;)

  • This music sounds like hope. Great stuff. It is what is so great about progressive music. If you hear it, you cannot but love it.

  • sometimes a door opens partway and as you peep inside, it slams in your face, and you don't seem to have the key anymore for monica with love xxx

  • Spock's beard was a great band until the founder turned into a god freak.

  • this reminds me a bit of kansas...this has sort of an element of that era to it, which i love

  • @charvinaldo and Yes. Which is awesome, right?

  • Wonderful song! I have never heard something from the band before.

    What a universe of ideas.

  • This music reminds me of apples and pencils

  • spocks beard awesome best band in the worlld

  • @brethartno1 WAS the best band in the world. then neal left. it is a damn shame, and now they SUCK! it's crazy how bad they got when he left.

  • @kingcrimson234

Get a grip, they are just as good, in another direction. Just sit back and listen to the new stuff, still very powerful, very good, if not great.

  • @MobileSpies NO U!

  • One Of My Fav Songs Of All Time, Just Learned the Piano Part.. Might Put It On Youube At Some point. : >

  • @INSCRIPTIC0R Please do, I'd love to hear it!

  • Only one problem with this song: ten minutes isn't long enough!

  • Could you post "Waste Away" as well? Such a great song, but also not on YT. Thanks for posting this! Rated up.

  • just discovered them. love them/

  • The doorway by which we take this beautiful music with us and leaving darkness behind for eternity.

  • very ugly sound!!! the organetto is so old!!

  • The world would be better if music like this was played on the radio and television.

  • @Thycid I think it's better this way

  • @Thycid

Ah...there lies the problem. Be it racist, insulting, arrogant, condescending...its still the truth that hurts. The majority of "music" listeners don't want to put out the effort to understand music like this. There is so much going on, so much to grip and process, that your average hiphop, AOR lite rock consumer just passes under this like a slow river under a grand bridge. Yet that's where the money is, that audience. Tragic at best. We can only buy these albums in hopes of more.

  • @MobileSpies It's not that they don't WANT to understand it, it's that the powers that be find it efficient and convenient to reproduce simple mainstream mind numbing filth to dull down the masses and accept their cheap product(s) which are the majority of music produced by the BIG 4 record labels. Conspiracy? Maybe, maybe not.

  • @Thycid Hehe, I actually found out about Spock's Beard from the radio. :P Planet Rock FTW

  • @Thycid It is, you're listening to the wrong stations.

  • @barrab I must have shit stations then

  • @Thycid I'm just saying that they aren't likely to play this on the same station they play Lady Gaga, but there are dedicated progressive rock radio stations.

  • @barrab i dont know of any besides college radio ones...

  • @trimags Note that most of the (practically all of them) are digital though.

  • @Thycid i heard this on slacker, its similiar to pandora

  • thankyou...personal fave beard track...

  • Def one of my favorite Spock songs of all time...a classic

  • @FinalBossDesu /agree

  • @FinalBossDesu. lol @ you being a no name looser working for free. Idiot!

  • Lol served

  • @flashchrome *loser

  • @jackpaice: Thiefs are the lowest possible people on the planet. Too sad some seem to want to be such losers. But hey, keep stealing and fill up those nice prisons.

  • @flashchrome thieves :D

nah im a musician and even i dont care =)

  • fuck you itunes! let me buy this song!

  • I wish Nick had taken more time to get rid of the snare drum over-ring. Being a trap-set drummer myself, I guess that is one of my pet-peeves...

  • My thought exactly. First time on played the CD and this song, I thought, "Wow, it that Tony Banks as guest pianist?" But, it was probably just more of paying homage to the Genesis influence on their band...

  • Even John Williams, with his Woody Award for the best porn soundtrack ever, cannot copyright a three-note riff.

  • I love the guitar at 5:34

  • A shame their early stuff is so poorly produced.. Still a great song!

  • please please please someone put waste away by spocks beard up on youtubeeeee.

  • Jurassic Park, barely... c'mon...barely...

  • This is one of my favorite Spock's Beard songs

  • Hey, even the best blatantly rip off movie soundtracks from time to time. This is obviously one of those times.

    Damned thieves.

  • Haha, that sounds great^^

  • haven't listen to this one in a long time

  • jurassic park riff ftw

  • what a exquisite and beautiful piece of music work!!

  • the greatest spocks beard moment is 1.45 secs through the great nothing when that unholy riff comes in,awesome

  • I love it when prog rock works :D

  • sounds a ton like Genesis.

  • These guys are awesome! It's unfortunate I didn't run into them earlier. Compared to most other modern rock bands, they definitely are much more creative, both in their song structures and riffing.

  • the name IS influenced by star trek, and for those of you who say "yeaa i watched a few episodes and spock never had a beard" well your most definitely wrong. in mirror, mirror, an episode of the original star trek, the crew is transported to a mirror universe. Kirk, Uhurah, Scotty and some other dude were transported on the ISS Enterprise, a Terran Empire ship. The mirror spock had a beard. hence the inspiration for Spock's Beard. HA! TREKKIES RULE!

  • The band was named after Dr. Benjamin Spock, noted pediatrician and child rearing expert. Spock did, indeed, sport a beard through most of his life.

  • HAHA that one burned hard, and in the same time you reveiled that ur a trekkie, which is...sad

  • what's bad about trekkies?

  • they're fucking twats

  • you're a twat ... boggle

  • good one, hardcroe trekkies are just the people sad enough to obsess over a TV programme which creates and unhealthy obsession

  • what makes you think I'm a trekkie (btw)? Calling you a twat because you define a group of people twats can be (and in this case is) based purely on the simple fact you addressing that large group of people.

Is there any healthy obsession you've managed to come across in your life? If yes, please enlighten me, as I didn't ...

  • i never said you're a trekkie if you check above, i know all about being defined in a particluar group of people as it happens me everyday and i never argued your motive for calling me a twat, it was justified

i dont want to sound like a tool here by saying this but masturbating is a healthy obsession as it reduces the chances of prostate cancer, socialising is another which provides differnet benefits and a fitness obsession is obviously healthy as well..... it improves your heath.

  • man you guys cant tell the difference between an unhealthy obsession and a favorite tv program. those stereotypical trekkies who dress like members of the crew every single day dont exist. you suck for generalising, and you suck for not having an open mind.

  • I love white chocolate, is that an obsession? :s

  • unless half the shit in your house is dedicated to white chocolate, and it has to accompany every meal, then no, its not an obsession

  • :D

But damn a house made entirely of white chocolate would be fun!

  • id hate to admit it but your actually right.

  • Spocks beard is named up by a teachers beard not a star trek movie I think...

  • Sounds like they're just ripping off Genesis with the intro and Yes with 4:02

    :\

  • well dunno. did coldplay rip off from satriani?

some parts might be accidentaly "same", but seriously ... it's a 12min long song L=s

  • Bad example. Most modern rock bands aren't known for striving for originality.

  • It´like... there´s something "Queenish" about this music... but I can hear some Pink Floyd when listening to it... maybe a little Dream Theater... even something that reminds me of Symphony-x...and yet, is so different from all these bands... OMG it´s just amazing !!

  • I've watched a few Star Trek episodes; I don't remember Spock having a beard. This is good stuff. Reminds me of early Kansas.

  • Amazing band,

  • When I first heard this song I was still a very lonely guy (still 5 years away from meeting the woman who would become my wife). I just couldn't stop listening to this song and it would make me so totally emo. But it's a great song and it helped me stay sane when I needed it, and that's all you can ask from a great song.

I love you, Jeanette, and I will always. XOXOX

  • happy to hear it helped you this way :)

  • Spock's Beard are so majestic in their composition -great riffs, superb bass lines, fantastic synths - everything that prog rock should be + more!!

  • will someone upload my shoes? please..

  • you have shoes? wtf?

  • I could use some pants if you don't mind.

  • amazing video --;

  • a friend just turned me on to this song.. very, very beautiful.... 5's and faved...

    ~Sharon.

  • One of their best songs ever. EVER!! :-)
