MaryAnne, just wanted to check in and say 'hi'. My experience is most times hecklers want attention. That's the main reason why they do what they do - nothing to do with you. If you weren't getting the attention they would like they wouldn't be targeting you. Like bullies they don't understand the damage, or they don't care, because what they want is to feel good, to feel powererful. Stay with the empaths who will support you. Good luck! :)

I love your take on hecklers. Many times when a heckler "heckles", they unwittingly expose their lack of intelligence. Someone posted this on one of my vids---"video sux, voice sux (sry but women just can't sing) but it's a great song and so 5stars....oh god my ears are bleeding..." My comment defending hecklers was not mean-spirited, angry, or argumentative in any way. It was all tongue-in-cheek, engaging, and -- dare I say, humorous.
Or maybe my comment WAS all that humorous. We could go back and forth on this ad infinitum.
And if someone is going to post videos on Youtube, they should be prepared to hear EVERYONE, not just those people whose views they agree with or even tolerate. There's a lot to be said for growing a thicker skin.

I don't know if you remember The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He would deliberately tell an awful joke, so people would boo or heckle them, and he would comeback with a zinger.

Hecklers need to turn off the dissuasivity and be willing and even eager to want to learn something, to move beyond the common ordinary pedestrian world into a realm where there is unlimited possibility.
People who live within virtual boxes stop learning because they feel overwhelmed and frustrated by their own self imposed limitations. They do not wish or desire to advance themselves or the world enough to overcome their fear. People who create real value celebrate others who do so as well.

MaryAnne, just wanted to check in and say 'hi'. My experience is most times hecklers want attention. That's the main reason why they do what they do - nothing to do with you. If you weren't getting the attention they would like they wouldn't be targeting you. Like bullies they don't understand the damage, or they don't care, because what they want is to feel good, to feel powererful. Stay with the empaths who will support you. Good luck! :)

You say "Hecklers" are not constructive critics AND that they are unempathic, as though those two characteristics inevitably go together. However, a critic could make a profound esthetic judgment of, say, the interpretation of a standard, expressed in a manner perceived by the artist (eg you) to be unempathic. This can happen because of a low emotional IQ (in the critic), or because the limitations of the medium (the internet) do not permit reading of body language, facial expression etc.

The very definition of constructive criticism requires sensitivity, consideration, and tact to name a few. One who finds they offend greatly with the limited form of text and/or feels there is a a possibility of making a 'profound judgment' of music should probably refrain from attempting either one.

I would say that constructive criticism may require sensitivity, consideration and tact to be *accepted* by the artist. An insensitive presentation of a critique may lead to its rejection, but that does not mean the criticism is unconstructive. The quality of being constructive derives from the benefit the artist might derive if the substance of the critique is accepted and internalized. The value of the criticism and the manner of its expression are two different things.

I love your take on hecklers. Many times when a heckler "heckles", they unwittingly expose their lack of intelligence. Someone posted this on one of my vids---"video sux, voice sux (sry but women just can't sing) but it's a great song and so 5stars....oh god my ears are bleeding..." I actually found it hilarious and sad at the same time.

I distinctly remember commenting on this video a while ago, and yet I cannot find my comment included among the 300+ others.
My comment defending hecklers was not mean-spirited, angry, or argumentative in any way. It was all tongue-in-cheek, engaging, and -- dare I say, humorous.

Socrates spoke truly when he said "the unexamined life is not worth living." But I don't recall that he made a point of volunteering his opinions. If someone asked for an opinion, he would say he knew nothing, and as you rightly stated, ask them questions that would help them find the answer themselves. I think that the best summary of his philosophy, from (Plato's) The Republic, is "justice consists in minding your own business and not interfering with other people."

Logic is the tree of knowledge - but without respect for the truth it bears bitter fruit. Like when Spock tells Norman "I'm lying", making a perfectly logical statement that cannot even be tested. And by relying on logic apart from truth, Socrates was able to postulate that a State cannot exist without a lie to sustain it. I don't recall that Socrates endorsed the actions of the 30 Tyrants, nor did he interfere. But whatever Socrates' connection was, he "Apologized" for it afterwards.

The Socratic method is a negative method of hypothesis elimination, in that better hypotheses are found by steadily identifying and eliminating those which lead to contradictions. I haven't seen the movie, but I will look out for it. For an example of creative heckling, watch the Mystery Science 3000 series. A few of the shows are out on video. They turned it into an art form, and perhaps, spawned today's hecklers.

I don't know if you remember The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He would deliberately tell an awful joke, so people would boo or heckle them, and he would comeback with a zinger.
I think you should sing a terrible song horribly , just to get people to heckle you, then you can practice your zingers.

I work with 2 different cameras. One is in my computer and can't be moved, the other can be moved to anywhere but does not have as good quality.

Anyone can sing and speak, but few can do both well, or with any degree of insight. It's nice to see there are still some gentle souls out there who can be kind to one another. Maybe people gravitate toward that because of its rarity. If you are unimpressed, I'm sure there is something more flashy and extravagant to inspire you out there. ;)

Overcoming sin is difficult, and I often fail. One of the things that often helps me to say no to sin is to realize that commiting a sin is like crucifying Christ all over again. But when I fail, Christ has the power to forgive my sins. As such, I am also compelled to forgive any wrongs done to me by others. I hope this helps you - it has helped me. Peace, my brother.

Hecklers need to turn off the dissuasivity and be willing and even eager to want to learn something, to move beyond the common ordinary pedestrian world into a realm where there is unlimited possibility.
People who live within virtual boxes stop learning because they feel overwhelmed and frustrated by their own self imposed limitations. They do not wish or desire to advance themselves or the world enough to overcome their fear. People who create real value celebrate others who do so as well.
