  • This is my favorite interpretation of this piece...love the mild rubato- definitely think it's totally appropriate here. It's definitely a tough piece to phrase and to not have sound like a bunch of notes connected by pedaling on chord changes. Awesome job man!

  • This is one of the nicest interpretation of the song. The song is not about speed its about the emotion of the composer. Well done

  • This is very well played. Thankyou!

  • Today would've been my mom's birthday. She played piano and violin, and this was one of her favorite piano pieces. This particular rendition sounds so much like mom that it makes me cry to hear it. Thanks for taking me back to my parents' house and the comforting memory of my wonderful mom playing the piano.

  • very inspiring thanks man

  • very nice interpretation...you took ur time on the best parts. XD

  • i agree with you.

it is easy to physically play, but applying your feelings into the piece is not

  • I agree with what you say: it's not as easy as it seems. Knowing how to play it is kinda easy, however, playing it well and finding a proper interpretation, using well the pedal takes much time...

  • If you play piano for fun then what do you do as a career?

  • everyone say its easy.... i memorize it all.. play it.. and still i got lots of mistakes.. mistakes are u need to have feelings when u play it.. with love not just memorize it.. its sweet

  • do u speak english?

  • No, I speak Indian..and sorry.. got little typo when i've wrote that comment =p apologize,

  • well played!

maybe you could sometimes take more care of the upper voice

but dont take it too serious

by far not an easy piece

  • Loved it!!

  • nice job

  • This song is one of my favorites too.. to listen and to play. I remember playing this when I was a teenager, and I would put my heart and soul into it.. it seemed almost .. like a beautiful sad melody coming from the soul... watching you play this had me mezmorized.. you are truly an gifted amazing musician.. I give you much respect and props.. :-)

  • I'm really happy to have fallen on your interpretation of it cuz most CD's I used to buy which had it on it, the interpretations were often too technical, ignoring the respirations and the dynamics like pianissimo, mf, etc. Really really loved yours. Excellent job

  • I wouldnt say it is that difficult, the emotional inpertation aspect of it. It's technically pretty easy. Emotion is easy to put in to music this simple. Emotion is hard to put into uber hard pieces though, I would think.

  • This not only a super interpretation, but also a luxury 2 camera positions and I think with one camera (?), so it is avery good editing (very rare on YouTube).

I seen all your video on YouTube and seriously you need a serious sponsor for your future.

All the best to you, from a retired soundman.

  • Indeed great job. and it's not all about the dificulty of the song but the emmotion one puts in it, and in my hummble opinion the best interpretation for this sonata was the one Mr. Kempff gave us so many years ago. (4 Stars}

  • Great Job! Bravo! it is a very beautiful piece.

  • Nice! I like the feeling you put into it!

  • Music is all relative... Difficulty can be determined many ways.

  • exactly, I think that best explains what I was thinking

  • This piece is very easy to play. I am more impressed with Cambry playing Rachmaninoff's Prelude. That is extremely difficult.

  • It's easy to hit the right notes in this piece, because it's a rather slow piece. That is, why this piece seems to be easy. But it is very difficult to play it musically. Rachmaninoff isn't more difficult to play musically than this piece from Beethoven.

  • this is one of my favorite pieces by far and you play it so beautifully great job

  • I agree with you Cambry- this piece is difficult to play. Although I see why people think it's easy. The NOTES are easy to play; the difficult part is playing those notes beautifully, with emotion. I have known the notes to this piece for years now, but I am practicing every day, and I still can't lock in on the right sound. I guess you have to try to play it well to appreciate the difficulty. Still, this is my favorite piece to play. Thank you so much for sharing your playing with all of us.

  • Best piano player on here by far. His Rachmaninoff Moment Musical No. 4 is awesome too

  • Oh, god, yes.

I agree completely. Literally, every time I come to YouTube in search of great classical, I just search "Cambry" in the search. Moment Musical No. 4 was the first thing I heard by him, and since then, I've loved it all.

  • wow!!... awesome interpretation of one of the most beautiful pieces ever written

  • phenomenal. how old were you when you started playing?

  • He started when he was three. Read his channel. =)

  • that was beautiful!!!

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i just came in my pants

  • ill.

  • Thank you. You are a remarkably gifted pianist. My mother lulled me to sleep playing this piece and other classics when I was a child. Such memories and feeling. Bless you.

  • very good interpretation

do you also play the 3rd mvt of this sonata? i wanna hear you play that

  • This piece has so much emotion! I think this is the BEST interpretation of this piece EVER. It can't get any better than this.

  • This was the first piano score I ever learned. I took 12 days to learn it, listening to it from a CD.

I've always heard it played too fast.. or not dramatic enough.. this is great, though!

  • excellent! one of my all time favorites!

  • really nice interpretation.... enzo

  • Very nice. I wish I had a decent instrument so I could work this back up again. I haven't played this for probably over 15 years. I love this entire sonata, but the 3rd movement is my favorite. Great job.

  • Very nicely done. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • You are amazing. I could listen to you play all day :)

  • I like this version and William kempfs version campbry is very reliable

  • Excellent playing, bit slow for my liking.

Would love to hear the 3rd movement

  • I agree Cambry. I believe there is no such thing as, what one would call, an easy piece. For every piece, whether it ranges from Baroque to Contemporary, must always have a solid interpretation in every melodic phrase. Cheers:)!

  • By far the one you're best at.

  • wow simply beautiful. i thought i play it good but i suck compared to u.. beethoven would be most pleased to hear u play his masterpiece so beautifully. and ur rite it is by far an easy piece to master and play it so well.

    good job.

  • bravo! bravo!

  • I think this is one of the nicer interpretations of this piece on youtube :)

  • Very inspiring!...I think I'll go practice now...

  • There is an aching suspense in this piece when the tempo and interpretation is authentic. I heard hesitation in this, which was a bit distracting sometimes, but overall, I loved it. I have played an overwrought interpretation of this for many years. It's very humbling to hear it done well. My mother always told me I was presumptuous for having attempted the piece at all. It's for Masters only. Thank you for sharing.

  • wow your mother sounds like the supportive type.

  • Very nice! It really seems like you put a lot of emotion and feeling when playing. Thank you so much for making this beautiful peace even more brilliant than before.

  • this has always been my favorite peice a bit too popular but it;s only played one way this way beautiful, also ever seen interview with a vampire where tom cruise is playing the piano and says on a more somber note and plays as an actor but plays a song kind of like moonlight but differant been looking for that peice for years please if anyone knows that one, playa you played that the right way no bull in it thank you

  • You may be very cocky and pretentious, but you're an excellent pianist lol. I look forward to more of your playing. Keep up the good work.

  • so many people are uber in love with this piece. i dont understand why its just okay to me ?? maybe its because im an aquarius?

  • Wow.. good playing. Can i join you and sit beside the piano drinking a whiskey? :)

  • Yeah for sure, bring me some whiskey too, it'll be fun

  • You have a lovely interpretation here!

  • It seems a little too slow for me. Thats just my opinion. I learned this song like a year ago, but I forgot how to play it.

  • stimey, you do listen to a lot of random pop piano though from your profile, maybe that's why

  • aaah! I LOVE THIS SONG SO VERY MUCH!! and wow, it's a very hard song to play. and i like what i hear, this is very good! : D

  • you're the best!!!!

    BTW,

is there something weird about your d# above middle c? it sounds off.

  • i love how you interpreted the bass line. when the tempo is too fast, the listener is denied the beauty of the piece. your tempo was spot on. the whole piece is just beautiful!

  • Jonathan AMAZING .. often when i play guitar .. i imagine that I'm Beethoven :) haha NOW thats even easier .. THIS is how Beethoven HIMSELF must have played this song :) .. great work me friend .. 5 stars from me .. your friend jeff

  • I am also looking forward to your dvd release. If not 7/1, then when do you think it will be ready? I remember when it was March lol. If this is an example of what will be on it, it will be well worth the wait.

  • what will you say if i asked you to email me your camera so i can record it rofl

  • My camera actually sucks kazuya haha you don't want this

  • This is a very nice interpretation! Even when it´s a little slow in the beginning. I like it!! ;)

  • You are a very talented musician. I enjoy hearing you play. I like your exploration of the different voices within the music. Many people forget about that aspect of Beethoven, but you offer a refreshing interpretation of that.

  • I LOVE your interpretation. The tempo is so perfect. Most people play this too fast. And I also love how you bring out the base. It's generally hidden. I think I'll also try that.

    Very, very beautiful.

  • Very nice and heartfelt interpretation. I'll be excited to hear the third movement from you.

  • Johnathan, have to watch and listen your playing everyday, can't wait to get a copy of your CD on 7/1.

  • Hey thanks a lot, it probably won't come out on 7/1 though because my camcorder has been awful lately

  • Lovely interpretation. Too often this piece is played far more quickly than it ought to be (I'm guilty of this myself. :P ) and you really played it with feeling and with great musicality. Nice video! :) This is a gorgeous piano composition and you did it justice.

  • I'm goign to go get sum Ice cream and said movies cause thats wut this song does for me :) lol <3 it

  • nicely interpeted, this piece is considered a level 5 out of 6 in NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) and this video shows why it is considered to be such a high level piece...so much emotion!

also, I second the request for a recording of the 3rd mov't

  • Back again... for my midnite moonlight serenade~(about 25 minutes away)

'Piece of music performed at night'.... Love this~

    truely~

  • i think 2 wrong notes, but otherwise, great performance, i like your textures for this! one of the better ones on youtube, 5/5 for u :)

  • what will you say if i asked you to upload movement 3?

  • I would say sure, that sounds like a lot of fun, maybe i'll get that back under the fingers

  • That was exactly what I wanted. I would love to see what Cambry could do with the 3rd movement.

  • great

  • My favorite pieces of ALL TIME are Chopin's "Winter Wind, Ocean, and of course, Fantasie Impromptu... but I'd lve to hear someone play Winter Wind and I believe you could do it justice...

    Kay J. K

  • I second that. I would love to hear you play Winter Wind.

  • Thanks a lot, I will try to upload the winter wind at some point, I planned to at some point, guess I still start practicing it again

  • "I will try to upload the winter wind at some point, I planned to at some point, guess I still start practicing it again."

All i have to say to that is, "YAY!!!!!" That's all. :D

    Kay J. K

  • Bravissimo, Cambry! 5 stars and favorited. Beautifully textured playing. I daresay that you look quite dashing in your suit as well. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing talent with us all.

  • Beautifully played! Also, you look good in a suit.

  • It's amazing. And you are indeed right about the fact that this piece is hard musically. Even such an experienced pianist like yourself had a couple of minor mistakes. not in the notes, however.

  • omg, this piece is played very well. :] i kinda started this piece a couple years ago but never got around to finishing it. :/ i'm am into chopin because of his romantic pieces. :D

  • wow! I learned this piece like 6 months ago and I've forgotten half of it. You make me remember how pleasnt it is to play it. thanks!

  • Mr. Cambry is right. While it may be an easy piece to play notes on, playing music from Beethoven's scores is much harder.

  • Very beautiful. Keep up the great work

  • finally a formal suit lol

  • that's because I might dress up as a Pacman mascot later

  • Thanks for showing people that there is more to music than just playing the right notes! Fantastic interpretation!

  • Thanks Mikma, most videos need the "Mikma was here" stamp, i'm seeing it less than before

  • This is most beautiful...~ Truely Touching...

  • Thanks Annie!

  • I'm inspired. Great playing, fab touch, nice one.

  • One of my favorites, too, Jonathan! Fantastic job. Really moving.

    -Duke

  • that was uber cool how you made the melody stick at at the 4 min. mark

  • WOot goo Moonlight ^.^, did I inspire you ;O, wow everyones up at the most awkward times, thats muscians for ya

  • haha yeah Ansel actually I think I got the idea to upload this one after I visited your channel, i'll have to change the video description now to indicate that

  • sorry cambry, but you have a heavy touch. it suits the faster stuff well, but not these slow pieces.

  • haha thanks for the comment, I disagree though, I think it's the opposite

  • your playing is awsome. don't you Love the critics and teachers on YT with nothing on their channels!?

look forward to the other movements!

  • heh. look who's talking

  • i think it definitely works for a piece like moment 3... i just think moonlight requires a bit more patience and delicacy

  • fletch, why do you have so many comments and only 8 video views total? just curious

  • don't worry man your playing is great i was just noticing maybe some passages require a little patience is all. i don't usually log in but view most vids through general searches. now that you mention it, i guess i only log in when i feel compelled to comment (when there aren't already 1000 comments before me). anyway keep up the good work man.

  • a piece like movement 3... lol. the whole piece has 3 movements. and the third movement requires the most delicate touch of all!

  • no dumbass i meant rach moment musical 3. ha ha

  • loved how you stretched the phrase at 4:35, haven't heard that before

  • ARGH! I hate music from that era!

  • Deal with it.

  • what the deuce?! what's w/the suit!? hmmm...awesome as always. you do classical so well, dear friend cambry.

5/5 for the awesome furnishings, camera changes/angles...and also for the performance, i suppose. =p

  • yeah I figure I wore everything from jerseys to swim trunks in my videos, I didn't do a suit yet for a video so finally here it is

  • A suit and no hat,WooWhoo! Nice house, too.

    Thanks for the post.

  • Thanks for dropping by LVB, I appreciate it

  • This is my favorite classical song, I loved the video it was great.5*
