  • Most people don't realize how tight this groove is ... the bass and guitar , damn . MY favorite Cameo song . My opinion , people who dig this more likely to listen to James Brown than Kool and the Gang ... more likely to listen to Barkays than Earth Wind and Fire ..etc etc ...

  • BY FAR THE BADDEST CAMEO SONG ... I WAS ABOUT 16 WHEN THIS SONG CAME OUT ... REMINDS ME OF SNEAKING INTO THE SUBWAY CLUB BACK IN DETROIT WITH FAKE ID SAYING I WAS 18. ANYWAY, CAN'T NOBODY TELL ME THAT THE MUSIC FROM THE 70S WASN'T THE BADDEST FUNK MUSIC EVER.

  • NEFFFFU BOUT TO GET A PUFF PUFF GIVE IN THIS MOTHERFOCKA

  • FUNK! YEA!! ONE OF MY FAVORITES!

  • It's fuckin' official........people who are in the "business" today clearly ain't about shit. This IS the truth!!! lolololol!

  • Bad and fonkie song. Reminds me of the Original Kool and the Gang before they went disco/ pop.

  • its good this song has no dislikes how could you not like it =]

  • Center of the CARDIAC ARREST Album is guitarist ERIC DURHAM (StratosphericTalent.webs.com) who recorded their FIRST 3 Albums. I was 18 when my brother Eric joined "The Players" who changed their name to CAMEO in order to record, since The Ohio Players blocked the use of the original name. None of you PARTIED on this MORE THAN ME - all the after parties, backstage. Cameo opened for Parliament Funkadelic, BarKays, Brass Construction.

  • @TopsyDurham ..1question is that ur brother on ugly ego if so...he is withou doubt 1 of the funkiest guitarist ever even above the p funk clan..it was all original and black as hell1....my fam still talks about seeing him live

Man o Man, I had to be at least 10 years old when this song first hit scene, and now some thirty years later, it sounds better than ever. And uuh, I still bump this in the ride while bendin' a few corners.

  • DJ Quik - Get At Me.

  • Larry Blackmon started this group in '74, known then as the New York City Players. By the time this was released they had changed their name to Cameo. This was the jam at the block party when it came out. It sounds just as good as it did when it first came out. You fake funkateers get your pen and pads out and start seriously taking notes!

  • @MyJaySeven

You got your history straight...right on!

They had to change their because of the Ohio Players.

  • THIS TUNE IS SO GOOD THAT EVERYONE LIKES IT! THERE ARE NO THUMBS DOWN! ITS PROOF FOR CAMEO'S GODNESS!

  • Ain't it funky fo' ya?!

  • une vraie bombe de son!!!!!

  • My Favorite Cameo Song , not biggest hit they had , but it had the Best funky Bass line , guitar and horn groove . WHAT happen , now its all same fkn drum machine sound ....by some drug dealer who bought studio time ...

  • Cameo gets me funked up!!!

  • that pic is not a 12 inch

  • Holy dirt-a-lisciousss!!

  • dj quik sampled this song for get at me

  • Both versions of Cameo were great, but I have sentimental feelings for the 11 piece. Sooooo Funky!!!!

  • sampled by brand nubian on they first album

  • YES SIIIIR !!!!

  • Ill Al Skratch used it in Yo love!

  • cameo is the best funk group in the world. I think cameo is better than funkadelic

  • @phillip98165 no knock to your comment how can you like cameo over funkadelic? they are booth great groups they booth old school i don't undertand that

  • @TheStrawbeery i know they are great groups. my brother has been using my account and he needs to make a yahoo so he can get his own account

  • @phillip98165 oh ok i hear you

  • This was before Cameo went with that techno style in which they still made hits, but ain't nothing like this Funk! Its where they came from.

  • When Cameo were funky as hell

  • @SuperEarthwindfire they still are funky catch there show when they come to your town.

  • This is my cut!

  • i remember this joint...hay do the robot...funky chicken lol

  • " OH HELL YEAH "

  • Funk 101, like the smell in the kitchen after a home perm

  • Serious FUNK!

  • I'm surprised no one made the intro break a part of the "breakbeats collection" of beats!!!

  • I never take this record out of my DJing-Crate and it works on the floor everytime.

  • I'm 33yrs old and its really funny when u have this song playing loud in your car shakin the ground and a older old skooler looks in ur car and gives u the thumbs up or they say what u know bout that young blood Long Live the OLD SCHOOL!!!

  • @mannishboy69 Your a kid 33 is not old...you act older then you are,

  • @jason75 lol dude they look at me weird cause I'm actually bumpin this instead of Waka Flaka ewww!!

  • @mannishboy69 Well, I'm 17, and i KNOW i'm going to be getting looks from people bumping this stuff in my car. They say the same thing to me. LONG LIVE THE OLD SCHOOL!!!

  • This cut definately belongs in the "Funk Hall Of Fame"!!! One of the first tunes I remember learning on the Guitar!!!

  • Thank youuuuuuuu so much!! I have been trying to find out what this F#$Kng song was and it just hit me tonight. I'm back to the Land of the African Big Bands! NAVOI

  • FUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FUNKSVILLIE...................

  • @knucklebutty no you are not wrong they lost some of there funk even those some of the crossover was alright but not like the early cameo

  • this is a great horn play, the groups of those days all ways had the best of horns, Con Funk Shun, EWF, Parliment. It was great, that's why we keep going back.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @freestyle5504 DAMN!! You just happened to name some of my favorite funkateers!

  • it's the horns baby that funky mofo brass!

  • HOT DAMN!!

  • This was the first some I ever heard by Cameo! I miss them. That's when clubbing was fun!

  • do you have Funk Funk,,,,,,O wait a minute,there it is,lol

  • This is that early Cameo funk, when they were 10+ deep with brotha's funkin', and after all of these years, this one may arguably be the funkiest one they ever did, grade A 70's funk, no doubt about it!!

  • Yes they were 11 until 1983! If I am not mistaken. This is the group I preferred! Larry Blackmons group were ok ,but not as many members were in the band! They were also a little too commercial and Funk less in the latter years. I guess thats what happens when we cross over into Pop! We seem to loose the funk to appeal to other masses.I could be wrong just my opinion! Great comment though3811.!

  • @1975tooto I liked this version of Cameo better as well...sad part is, I remember when Cameo suffered the plague of being a band with "unknowns." (Not many people could name the band members off the cuff) Con Funk Shun and the SOS Band were the same way.

  • @1975tooto You got that right! I grew up on Long Island and I knew all of the members of Cameo before they even hit it big! I was introduced by a girlfriend and a friend who went to Amityville H.S with two of them! They paid their dues believe me singing in clubs all over NYC and all over the U.S! They kept their integrity and down to earthness! Great brothers back in the 70s! One of the funkiest bands EVER!

  • @1975tooto If you look up Cameo's bio you'll see that Larry Blackmon was present with the group in the "New York City Players" days. And if you look at the credits in this song his name is here.

  • Man, This is the shit!!!!!

  • DJ Quik sampled this for his song "Get at me"

  • THis S&*t gets on yo backbone and will make you move......They don't funk like this no more....

  • you know it!!!....i remember when this first came out...i was in highschool...music was so good back then...driving to school was dangerous with all the groovers on the highway...at parties the girls would imitate the chick on the background vocals...what times man !!!! peace

  • This is my sh*t!

  • CLASSIC!!!

  • Funk, the way it should be!

  • I have two copies of this on 7 inch in order to juggle that intro. I love though, how the twelve inch brings the intro back at the end and vamps on it, and it's my fav part of the song by far. Anybody know if there's a 2-part 7 inch out there?

  • Fuck yeah! this is the shit1

  • This is classic FUNK. Been lookin for this a long time. One of the greatest samples ever used by DJ Quik. Thanx for this post fam!

  • Great Song on it's own as well!

  • Brand Nubian sampled this classic!

  • Very nice upload.

    Thanks!

  • Now you see why George Clinton ,was like dayum....they was one of Parliment Funkadelic last successful tour. THIS JAM IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FUNK CUTS!!

  • THIS IS THE SHIZZNIT!!!

  • That was the party rocker back in the day.

    And still jammin.
