  • Maneli are you originally from Iran? I was watching another one of your videos and the beginning sounded like Dastgahe Shoor (from iranian music scales) Is that an accident or do you Dastgahe Shoor?

    With greetings from Iran

  • Yea I'm Iranian. I try to incorporate different dastgah in my playing. Glad you could hear the persian influence here :) My father has taught me many persian modes for me to inspired by!

  • Greetings Maneli:

I think THIS song IS the BEST on the CD!!! It's beautiful how it ties in with Track 14 "Ruiz" You have one Lucky Lady!!!

  • Im glad you made the connection with those two songs :)

  • I could listen to you forever and a day! Thank you!

  • Well......I think you are pretty awesome!!!

  • Love the playing! How did you learn? I play myself, but never know what to begin with chords/scales, etc. I always find it interesting how players get to where they are

  • Lots of experimenting!

  • Excelente

    Saludetes!

  • COOL

    5 * * * * *

    nice song

  • speaks to my heart. no other way to put it

  • hi Manely the way you play is awesome congratulations 5¨*****

  • Maneli you are one great guitarist ,one of the best i have ever seen ,i totally agree with

LordVoldyThingy who said you should be with Candyrat artists.

  • Thanks very much! Really appreciate it. I hope they like my tunes. Ill have to make a better close up HD version of this track really soon.

  • oh, and by the way, you SHOULD be on records like Candyrat. Frankly speaking , you are WAY BETTER than some of their artists... I don't understand why companies like those haven't discovered you yet, my friend.

  • Thanks very much for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I had a blast writing it. More like these to come in the future :)

  • this, my friend, is one of my all-time favorites... I have to say that this might indeed be the most subtle, and the most captivating composition i have ever heard... am I glad you sent me that invitation...

  • i love your music i listen to it everyday its amazing!!!!!!!

  • Maneli is my favorite acoustic guitarist and I think very underrated. It looks like you use a metal thumbpick... I was wondering what it is cause I use a Jim Dunlop but I find the shape of it is annoying because of the folds on top. It makes up strokes a bad idea and hard on strings. Do you know of a good flat metal thumb pick?

  • Im just using a regular plastic thumbpick, jim dunlop actually. I wouldn't personally use a metal thumbpick because it would make it so much brighter than it already is. Nothing fancy about the thumbpick although im still not 100% used to it. With anything, the more you use it, the easier and more comfortable it becomes. We'll get there :)

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • Superb.

  • This is my favourite tune by you, it's great, lots of different parts to it which you've put together in a very cohesive manner, I love the unique sound of this song.

Very talented, would have loved to see you live but sadly you aren't touring Scotland :(

Keep up the great work, I don't understand why the view meter on this video doesn't have a few extra digits on it!

  • Thanks a lot! This is my fav tune of mine to play. Ill let you know when I'm in touring in Scotland. Spread the word :)

  • like rahzel beatboxing and singing at the same time. cept you guitar and drum at the same time!

  • All flattery aside, this may be one of the greatest compositions I've heard. You may not be famous, but hey: you nailed better than Andy McKee could. And I REALLY like Andy.

  • Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • hard to write with the heart but one word comes to mind : amazing...

  • You are awesome with the guitar man! A real talent! Congratulations.

  • ES MAGICO OIRLO...

    :)

  • All your pieces are beautiful, you have inspired me to pick up my acoustic more than my electric now. ~chris

  • I remember the first time I heard this piece... Damn... It was like you reached into my heart or something... It was so powerfull...

    It still is...

Your awesome man, just... So awesome :)

  • this guy

    is the guy

respect the heir to the hedges throne

  • brilliant!!!!!

  • its a shame the rater doesnt go to 10,amazing

  • My new favorite acoustic player of all-time. Right here.

  • Beautiful composition, played from the heart.

  • great job

  • When I hear this piece... it's like hearing a symphony for guitar. Amazing dynamics and a masterpiece of composition!

  • Wow, that was quite mesmerising, I really like the sound of that. It's different to anything I've heard before.

  • I'm so touched by your playing. When speaking about other guitarists in the same league, it (sometimes, not always!) seems to me like much of the songs message and soul gets lost in overemphazising of the different tapping techniques and so on. You keep it rock solid all the way through, build your songs on incredible stable and beautiful ground, then you make it flourish even more with your very own way of playing, and still you keep such an emotion in it! You should be signed to candyrat!

  • Just the most amazing techniques in there but it's still so passionate and so musical. Thanks, your work truly is an inspiration.

  • oh boy!!, now that was good, roeleke will love you.555

  • a great moment of music

  • I close my eyes and I am somewhere else - Stunning, beautiful, amazing!

  • Amazing composition and performance! Bravo! To my ears, it sounds highly artistic and perfect - not at all imperfect - as you've described in the channel-page! You are like Keith Jarret of the guitar.

  • beautiful..! Thanks

  • those dissonances... oh man...

  • It is amazing. I like your style. Original and unique.

  • wow I often wandered where such beautiful music came from. Now I know.

  • Excellent right hand work, and superior use of harmonics. I enjoyed the percussive elements. I can only hope that you can add the traditional 5/8 of even the 12th century 6/12 time signatures.

    Congratulations and best wishes,

    Gary Hurd

  • Maneli:

Compliments to you on your technique and originality!

I hear many levels of emotion in your playing! Not a simple thing to accomplish on the guitar! How long have you been playing? Did you have classical training?

Your talent is clearly evident! Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks very much! Ive been playing since i was 16 (2001) and i had about a month of classical training then moved on to my flamenco phase.

  • wow, that was beautiful!!!

  • good one man

  • that totally blew me away man very well done

  • great skills!!

  • Who cares about the tuning he's the new kid on the block. And he plays superbly.

    Rock on.

  • Naturally if you don't play guitar you don't care.. if you do .. you might. I posted this because somebody commenting about Maneli's playing asked about it..

  • kg207 - Regarding who cares about tuning.. Naturally if you don't play guitar you don't care about tuning .. if you do .. you might. I posted this because somebody commenting about Maneli's playing asked about it..

  • Its young Bundy and McKee!

  • I agree !

But there is that flamenco touch that dissociate him from the 2 others. As we can see, it sounds pretty good !

God bless Maneli Jamal and each person who have the opportunity to listen his music !

  • Beautiful guitar playing my friend. Thank you for the invite. Mark

  • Superb, thanks for the friend invite!

  • You're really great on the guitar. My favorite part is when it picks up at 1:35. Thanks for sharing.

  • Dude,

Sinmply beautiful. It's not too often I get into the open tunings and stuff, but I really fell in love with your intro.

One question. What tuning are you using? and what strings is your capo pressing?

    Thanks in advance =)

    Collin

  • thanks man, i play on a 814ce limited edition taylor

  • GREAT THICK WARM RICH CHORDS....1st 20 seconds made my eyes water...No exageration.

  • That was a divine beautiful sound coming from a man with a guitar. Amazing.

  • Lucky you , lucky her, lucky all of us, that you can feel and express your feelings the way you do..Bravo!

  • Great piece of art!

    what's the tuning?

  • Looks like Maneli is not eager to tell us his tunning!!.. But I think I have it figured out.

With the capo on its: (Low to high)

    EAEABE

Some he is using a capo and playing in key e must be doing this.

    Tuning the E B A and Low E down 1/2 step

and tuning the G and D strings up 1/2 step

so with the capo you get what I posted above.

By doing this I thing you get lower tension on the strings for the hammers, it also moves the harmonics so you can hit them easier while playin the melody.

  • nice insights. thx for the info :)

  • I actually use the capo on all strings except the highest string, this is used for all the movement pieces. I don't use the capo because it lowers the action or because of hitting the harmonics easier but for compositional and economic fingering purposes... hope that helps :)
