I tried this for my guard army, took a bit of fiddling but then I found out the right way to twist it, and now I have barbed wire defending my guardsmen.

I used 0.71mm galvanised garden wire for both the main body and the barbs. You can get a role of this in any garden centre for not much at all and it will last you forever

It looks out of scale to me. Too thick. If you get a guitar string, cut it at either end and stretch it out. It looks better. Auto barbs, and easier to curl and shape and alot less effort!

Best bet would be tri-ply speaker wire, it's about two mm thick, that would even still be too thick so I'd say gank out a wire, or two if neccesary, then use the left over wire to cut down little barbs to twist on. Dunno why I'm even looking at Warhammer videos right now ...

Try not to press your body near the wires and just try to grab between the barbs (they are usually a couple inches apart)

essentialy barbed wire (in small portions not the huge barricades of them with the two pieces of wood made into and X and another one so its like X----X and barbs in the middle but like four of the wire layers) is to slow the enemy down and hurt them a little while at it hopefully making them go "owy that hurt *look at the wood...BOOM HEADSHOT!!!!*" and the machine guns rippem apart

If you you have an actual thick coil of barbed wire; you can't climb over it, jump over it or go through it; you land in it and you'll get wrapped up and caught...

cool, the way i did it was i used a really long strand of wire, wrapped it around a chair leg and put both ends into a drill and let it rip. it went a lot quicker for me that way

if you really want a cool assault army, i would suggest the blood angels of the space marines (space marines have their own individual chapters; blood angels are into massive assault attacks) or if you want to be on the darker side then there are chaos space marines (personally, i dont like the feel of them, they have good close combat statistics but only terminators really assault) im doing the raven guard, which are a drop pod assault army that are kinda like blood angels but with differences.

Another way to make barbed wire is to use the mesh from windows. Cut the lines apart so you have a long line covered in short barbs.

I made meters of this a few weeks back with a little different method. If you have a rotary tool - clamp the ends of the wire in to the tool and 'hook' a length of around something at the other end (I used an old toothbrush).

Turn on the rotary tool (not too fast), keep the wire tight and you've got a whole bunch of twisted wire fast.

Instead of using paper clips, I also use solder - it's quicker since it's a little more flexible.
