I was under the impressing that florescent light did not cover the red side of the spectrum enough to stimulate a plant to flower. This is the first I have heard of florescent light successfully producing buds.
i have a ? did it take a long time for your first pistol's to show ? cause i went for 2 and a half weeks before i started over cause i thought i heat stressed my plant.will high heat like above 95 slow the flowering stage down?
I use a four foot duel bulb florescent fixture, two 175 watt cfl., and like for 25 watt cfls. and have great results. but have no idea how many lumens or watts that is all together. enough, I know that much.
@Frankii3 i run a 600 watt light 24/7 in my veg room, that costs me abut $40 a month my flower room has a 600 watt light that runs 13 hours on 11 hours off and that costs about $22 a month, with the amount i harvest its worth it lol and the quality. CFLs are great for ppl who are on a budget and with proper methods can work well but MH and HPS lights have higher Lumen per Watt ratios and since we pay the same for electricity used its more efficient to use MH and HPS if using same amount of watts
@Cryptlord9999 number one why the hell would you waste money on 24/7 veg with MH, there is a point with HIDs where the plant just needs to sleep and extra hours are almost wasted. and why do we all flower on 12/12 because thats how mother nature is and cannabis reacts a whole lot quicker and better, one hour off will not make of difference other than slowing your growth because the plant cannot produce the essencial sugars and foods needs to hit max potential. i admire your
@420Mrkushy I only do 24/7 veg for my indica plants and thats because they are not kept in veg for very long, i do 13 hours on 11 hours off because if the plant has more light energy then its creating more sugars etc to use during the night cycle and will grow faster and larger, you need only reduce the light enough to force flower and some strains will flower better under different conditions. 12/12 light cycle is what most ppl use for a light cycle because it simplifies their grows more.
@420Mrkushy ....Also if your growing and prefer sativa plants as i do, then you will find the best light cycles for sativa plants which originate closer to the equator to be for veg 13 hours light 11 hours darkness and for flowering 11 hours light 13 hours darkness as this is what they are genetically used to being exposed to, this is just a general light cycle for sativa's, you will get slightly taller plants and lose a very small amount of weight but increase overall quality by a ton.

@Frankii3 actually it only cost at the max 200 a month to run my room at a 8 weeks flower, hitting about a p. every two months. when switching to HID from CLF its mostly about having a faster turn around a growth. other than that CLFs are perfect for personal grows or people not in a hurry to pay bills lol.

Either some of you fuckers have never grown weed before, or could be just plain out stupid. CFL lights are some of the best ways of growing weed the cheapest and "eco-friendly" way. The 23 watt buld (100 watts) put out about 1750 lumes., 4 of them in a 5x 5x room would grow a perfect size plant. its not about the light all the time, its also about the soil, water, and foods you give it.

More bulbs EQUALS MORE LUMENS. there is an added factor in light. the easy analogy would be to water, IF you were able to make water more "intense" somehow. like 1cc of water is 1cc of water and is basically uncompressible, light DOESNT work that way. "1cc" of light needs another description for how dense that light energy (not to mention its inherent characteristics) is for the analogy to work. some plants prefer "dense" light, not just lots of spread out light.
"lumens" is just a definition that says NOTHING about how "dense" that light is. i could have 1000000 lumens at a mile distance; whats that? a nightlight? we would need to go thru some basic geometry and some slightly less basic theory to come to the exact reason why 1000 lumens being emitted FROM an area of 1000 sq ft is useless for growing plants but 1000 lumens emitted from a source the size of a sand grain would be quite a bit more useful than "1000 lumens" would suggest. if you follow.

@skeptimist71 not to spoil the love but i think we disagree slightly :) more bulbs equals more lumens. fact. luminous flux is the measure of light passing thru a closed sphere/ part of one surrounding the source. more bulbs in there, more lumens in there. the candela measures the intensity IN a direction, key being the intensity, "light on target". lumens is total light flux from a source at any distance. same bottom line tho. no part of that cfl is very bright, a long 'dim' tube...get it close
@GmanG1987 not tru at all. gosh ppl need to get that right. the issue with softer light sources is NOT that your lumen count stays TOTAL what one bulb is rated. thats retarded. so, 2, 1000WHID lamps only produce the same lumens as one? or does the backwards logic ONLY apply to cfls? its a common misconception that the issue is lumens; its penetration. soft lights spread out the SOURCE of the light, there is no bright POINT source. weed likes that blazing sun, so plants respond better to it
@krypekeeper penetration is key. if no light gets in, PAST the outer plant parts, then OH WELL no growth. ive grown with NOT ENOUGH PENETRATION. it really comes down to that. you can pile cfls all over a plant and get penetration or leds, or an HID its up to you, but really it comes down to not only the color, the lumens, but also the penetration. HOW DEEEEEP can your light get. as the buds grow, if there is DARK inside......... lots of soft lumens CAN or CANNOT equal ANYTHING
@krypekeeper youve responded. you might be able to just stack cfl all over a plant so that penetration is achieved. but i pray you invest the money in what youre saying so youre as confident as i am ^.^ i know cfls, leds, hids. berries, much like canni, require that nasty harsh light of hid or better yet sun. the berries dont do as much as "harsh light grown" plants. they dont. this crop is the same.
Videos like this would be much more helpful if the description included the following:What strain are you using? If you got the seeds online, from whom? How did you germinate the seeds? How long before you added nutrients? How much lighting are you using? Describe your nutrients, and where did you get it? Describe your growing medium...deep water culture, soil, etc. Do you test for PH and PPM or just run things on auto-pilot? Do a smoke test and honestly describe the end product. Thanks....
...hot garbage light, that actually mimix the sun spectrum a little better than the highly targeted LED spectrums or the ultimately less intense/effective flouro tech... HID just makes the plant feel more like makin fruit or pot or whatever. like comfort food maybe? not sure how to convey it exactly but you can grow most things with most kinds of reasonable light technology, its just a matter of what you got, what you want, and where you wanna go with it all.... stay safe
I dont have data for you all, but ive grown indoors with LED CFL and HID. GOOD! (I'd rec prosourceworldwide myself) LED is simply the most efficient probably healthiest veg light you can get, CFL is pretty good (same with linears) for veg as well, tho i must say that the best ive ever seen ANY kinda plant look was under a mix of 1 good tri or five band LED and two small 65k CFLs...ive dabbled in fruit growing, and i think this applies here, some things just love that harsh lumen rich, hot.....

Look at the cfl's lumens and then look at the HID, light distance is key. If you can't get your HID nice and close it wont do anything special. but if you get your hid 10 inches or less from your plant without stressing them they will blow any cfl grow away, probably double it.
hi i have a 400 wat hps and i can get 7 plants yielding around 40 grams each, and thats only in a 3'x4' closet, grown in hempy buckets with 25 percent coco 75 percent perlite( this hempy method is even easier than soil(for efficiency) in my opinion use google). Dont bother with cfl's for flowering unless your grow space is even smaller than mine.
as long as u want...depends how harsh or smooth u like ur smoke atleast a couple weeks id say, crack the lid open for 5 min a day to let out the moisture tho
after u dry ur haunty out it stil has moisture inside it.curling it balances the moisture frm inside to outside and of course taste/aroma n smell even the stone.the longer u can keep the erb in the jars the taster the smoke in every way will be much better

@MsPurplewreck Not exactly. It is a common misconception that more wattage=more yield, but the real deal is that it is all about lumen. You are right in a way though. 6x68w=300w would put out about 23,400 lumen. His 6 23w only put out around 8,700 lumen. I'd say get 3 68w at 2700K and 3 68w at 6500K. So you'd have 11,700 lumen of red and 11,700 lumen of blue. Keeping in mind you want about 2,500 lumen per sq ft. You could grow around 9 plants with 6 of those 68w cfls.

no, nutes are not needed, just grow them intil they are kinda tall and give them nutes, or just grow them in soil with nutes if u use hydro, well,.......
@unearth125 Using nutes in the beginning is normally not a good idea. Most of the time depending on soil choice their is already nutes in the soil which will last for 2 weeks to a month. After about that long you can start using nutes, just dont over feed!

@krypekeeper youve responded. you might be able to just stack cfl all over a plant so that penetration is achieved. but i pray you invest the money in what youre saying so youre as confident as i am ^.^ i know cfls, leds, hids. berries, much like canni, require that nasty harsh light of hid or better yet sun. the berries dont do as much as "harsh light grown" plants. they dont. this crop is the same.

Videos like this would be much more helpful if the description included the following:What strain are you using? If you got the seeds online, from whom? How did you germinate the seeds? How long before you added nutrients? How much lighting are you using? Describe your nutrients, and where did you get it? Describe your growing medium...deep water culture, soil, etc. Do you test for PH and PPM or just run things on auto-pilot? Do a smoke test and honestly describe the end product. Thanks....

...hot garbage light, that actually mimix the sun spectrum a little better than the highly targeted LED spectrums or the ultimately less intense/effective flouro tech... HID just makes the plant feel more like makin fruit or pot or whatever. like comfort food maybe? not sure how to convey it exactly but you can grow most things with most kinds of reasonable light technology, its just a matter of what you got, what you want, and where you wanna go with it all.... stay safe

I dont have data for you all, but ive grown indoors with LED CFL and HID. GOOD! (I'd rec prosourceworldwide myself) LED is simply the most efficient probably healthiest veg light you can get, CFL is pretty good (same with linears) for veg as well, tho i must say that the best ive ever seen ANY kinda plant look was under a mix of 1 good tri or five band LED and two small 65k CFLs...ive dabbled in fruit growing, and i think this applies here, some things just love that harsh lumen rich, hot.....

Look at the cfl's lumens and then look at the HID, light distance is key. If you can't get your HID nice and close it wont do anything special. but if you get your hid 10 inches or less from your plant without stressing them they will blow any cfl grow away, probably double it.

hi i have a 400 wat hps and i can get 7 plants yielding around 40 grams each, and thats only in a 3'x4' closet, grown in hempy buckets with 25 percent coco 75 percent perlite( this hempy method is even easier than soil(for efficiency) in my opinion use google). Dont bother with cfl's for flowering unless your grow space is even smaller than mine.

@MsPurplewreck Not exactly. It is a common misconception that more wattage=more yield, but the real deal is that it is all about lumen. You are right in a way though. 6x68w=300w would put out about 23,400 lumen. His 6 23w only put out around 8,700 lumen. I'd say get 3 68w at 2700K and 3 68w at 6500K. So you'd have 11,700 lumen of red and 11,700 lumen of blue. Keeping in mind you want about 2,500 lumen per sq ft. You could grow around 9 plants with 6 of those 68w cfls.

@unearth125 Using nutes in the beginning is normally not a good idea. Most of the time depending on soil choice their is already nutes in the soil which will last for 2 weeks to a month. After about that long you can start using nutes, just dont over feed!
