A think the 57 million includes underinsured that have bogus polices. Some reall bad polices out there.. not good for much of anything. Then there's high co-pays and deductibles even with some" good insurance" that can destroy the finances of a middle class family. In all, the total with no insurance or poor insurance is probably over 57 million. This is not just about the uninsured its about affordable insurance that doesn't have loop holes.
First, the term "poor insurance" is a totally subjective term. What for one may be "poor", for another may be perfectly adequate. Second, it leads to a distortion of reality - people are liable to invent numbers. The WH was talking about 40 million, then 42 million, then 43 million, then it grew to 47 million, and now 57 million "uninsured". Nobody has talked about the "underinsured" (again, a subjective term, meaningless.) I believe this is nothing more than obfuscation.
Believe what you will. I do the books for a Doctor...you would be amazed at how many insurance polices are not worth the paper they are printed on. My wife works at a cancer clinic..people with insurance from major carriers still can have co-pays and deductibles that run thousands a month. People with insurance go broke all the time. So my point is this is not just about the uninsured ( what ever that number is).
It is not a question of what "I believe". Your take on those insurance companies cannot go beyond being your own opinion, first, and not a true statistic, second. While people with insurance MAY go broke sometimes, this is indicative of two things: One, people do not save and, second, the insurance companies are mandated by law to cover a list of things that most of the time are not needed, driving the insurance further and further away from being a true catastrophic protection.
The only care given to undocumented aliens is through emergency care, which we have no matter what.
All you have done is assert that there's nothing stopping an illegal alien to get it, but that's not the case. They have to be here legally and have some form of document to show it.
Then again, what the argument was in the first place, was that the paper DOES offer the care for undocumented people, which it does not.
Sonic, the current bill has no mechanism to stop undocumented aliens from receiving care paid by the public. I have to remind you that when government creates any giveaway, it automatically makes itself available to everyone by virtue of the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment, meaning that EVEN if the bill indicated that undocumented aliens are not to receive public care, the SCOTUS would simply render that provision null, as it would violate the Eq. Prot. Clause.
Do you even know the context of what the fourteenth amendment was about?
And not to mention that even if what you're arguing WAS the case, which it sadly isn't... it would be a loophole, rather than the bill itself arguing for care to be given to illegal immigrants.
I KNOW the context of the 14th Amendment - you should ask that question to the SCOTUS, since they used the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause to usurp States' rights and declare abortion a "right", and forced busing.
The bill does not have to argue in favor for care for undocumented aliens; that's not the argument. You totally miss the point: it is that whenever Congress legislates positive rights (i.e. entitlements), it creates unintended consequences such as care for migrants.
If you "KNOW" it so well, then you know that the only thing about immigrants that the fourteenth amendment does for, is make it so that any child that may be born of an illegal immigrant in the U.S. is counted as a U.S. citizen.
There's nothing there in the Bill or in the amendment that makes the Bill obligated to give care to those who can't prove themselves to be legally here. The only way that the immigrants are gonna get any care is through Medicaid, which they would've gotten either way.

The number goes up everyday as folks lose jobs.
A think the 57 million includes underinsured that have bogus polices. Some reall bad polices out there.. not good for much of anything. Then there's high co-pays and deductibles even with some" good insurance" that can destroy the finances of a middle class family. In all, the total with no insurance or poor insurance is probably over 57 million. This is not just about the uninsured its about affordable insurance that doesn't have loop holes.

First, the term "poor insurance" is a totally subjective term. What for one may be "poor", for another may be perfectly adequate. Second, it leads to a distortion of reality - people are liable to invent numbers. The WH was talking about 40 million, then 42 million, then 43 million, then it grew to 47 million, and now 57 million "uninsured". Nobody has talked about the "underinsured" (again, a subjective term, meaningless.) I believe this is nothing more than obfuscation.

Believe what you will. I do the books for a Doctor...you would be amazed at how many insurance polices are not worth the paper they are printed on. My wife works at a cancer clinic..people with insurance from major carriers still can have co-pays and deductibles that run thousands a month. People with insurance go broke all the time. So my point is this is not just about the uninsured ( what ever that number is).

It is not a question of what "I believe". Your take on those insurance companies cannot go beyond being your own opinion, first, and not a true statistic, second. While people with insurance MAY go broke sometimes, this is indicative of two things: One, people do not save and, second, the insurance companies are mandated by law to cover a list of things that most of the time are not needed, driving the insurance further and further away from being a true catastrophic protection.

The only care given to undocumented aliens is through emergency care, which we have no matter what.
All you have done is assert that there's nothing stopping an illegal alien to get it, but that's not the case. They have to be here legally and have some form of document to show it.
Then again, what the argument was in the first place, was that the paper DOES offer the care for undocumented people, which it does not.

Sonic, the current bill has no mechanism to stop undocumented aliens from receiving care paid by the public. I have to remind you that when government creates any giveaway, it automatically makes itself available to everyone by virtue of the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment, meaning that EVEN if the bill indicated that undocumented aliens are not to receive public care, the SCOTUS would simply render that provision null, as it would violate the Eq. Prot. Clause.

I KNOW the context of the 14th Amendment - you should ask that question to the SCOTUS, since they used the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause to usurp States' rights and declare abortion a "right", and forced busing.
The bill does not have to argue in favor for care for undocumented aliens; that's not the argument. You totally miss the point: it is that whenever Congress legislates positive rights (i.e. entitlements), it creates unintended consequences such as care for migrants.

If you "KNOW" it so well, then you know that the only thing about immigrants that the fourteenth amendment does for, is make it so that any child that may be born of an illegal immigrant in the U.S. is counted as a U.S. citizen.
There's nothing there in the Bill or in the amendment that makes the Bill obligated to give care to those who can't prove themselves to be legally here. The only way that the immigrants are gonna get any care is through Medicaid, which they would've gotten either way.

Free-- I am glad you mentioned pages 59-60 which call for "electronic funds transfers" to "providers'. (thats your doctor or hospital). That language is about THE GOVERNMENT PAYING THEM! It says nothing of having access to personal accounts.

I just got back form a meeting of Doctors ( I do the books for one of them).
There were seven doctors there...Every one of them wants the implementation of the electronic systems that you say Doctors fear. And everyone wants to look into single payer because the Insurance companies are screwing them around so much. I kid you not.

President doesn't have 95% of the powers he has. The constitution is clear and only gives him about 4 jobs. The rest are for the congress. All congressmen are more important than the president, and it is BEAUTIFUL to see people arguing in congress for a change.
I'm relieved to see my congressmen fighting against bigger government, and i'm happy to see them not being brown nosed.

The main reason that there's such a huge discrepency btwn the rich and poor amounts entirely up to "the Federal Reserve". A private group of bankers has practically total control of our money supply. The people who get the newly printed money first benefit IMMENSELY and the people who get it last get punished HORRIBLY.
I agree that health care is out of hand in this country, but the solution isn't to give EVERYONE health insurance. That just shows that obama doesn't understand economics....
