Just wondering, would "wench" be an appropriate translation for "weib", regarding its current meaning?

@ShogunGin0 I must confess I'm not sure. Does "wench" mean something like prostitute? I think I've heard the word in this context before. If it does, I don't consider it an appropriate translation for Weib. Weib is a prejorative word for woman nowadays, but it has nothing to do with prostitution and does not refer to women of a certain age.

@Melilotona It could me a prostitute, but only in archaic context. It generally implies the woman is of lower class. However, it always implies that she is promiscuous. Think an older word for "slutty woman".

@ShogunGin0 Thanks for the definition. To me it doesn't seem to be a good translation for Weib, because Weib does not describe the woman's class. When a woman is called "Weib" the speaker implies that he doesn't like her at all, perhaps that she's dumb and/or ugly, but not necessarily promiscuous or poor.

For the Latin, it should be "I confess myself to the Almighty God, to the blessed eternally virgin Mary, to the blessed Arch Angel Michael, to the holy apostles all saints, and you Father, that I have sinned, by thinking, in word and in deed.". It should be all one sentence.

I love this dubbing. It's more faithful to the original than the Japanese dubbing and it's so powerful. The singer is great, although probably not the same as Tony Jay. And thank you for translating the Latin! Hearing the chants to Frollo's lines makes it sound like the chants echo is innermost thoughts! So cool!

Nice. The way the Germans translated it isn't as good though, they miss out on a few epic lines like "The Sun caught in her raven hair!" and "Like Fire, Hellfire!" Sounds better than the line about her flowing black hair captivates me and "The fires of hell"

But I guess they have to make the translation sound good, so for that they did a good job. Thanks for the translations to english btw!

ich saß auch lange vor dem wort und hab überlegt, ob ich's wörtlich übersetzen sollte oder nicht. mir erschienen alle möglichkeiten bescheiden - ich hab auch muttersprachler gefragt, aber die wussten auch keine englische entsprechung. zum latein: bitte, bitte! ich hätte nie gedacht, dass es SO eine katastrophe ist, latein auf englisch zu übersetzen. ich hab den umweg über deutsch genommen, es könnte also was verloren gegangen sein, aber man kriegt ne idee von dem, was gesagt wird.

Hallo, ein kleiner (Schönheits-) Fehler ist mir bei der Übersetzung des lateinischen Teils aufgefallen: Statt "I reveal myself to God (...) because I sinned" würde "I confess to God (...) that I sinned" besser passen und wäre näher am Original. "Confiteor quia peccavi"- "I confess that I have sinned".

Alles in allem aber ein tolle Arbeit!

You're almost right on the latin bit, and I reckon you did translate it 'correctly'. It's a set litany, the english version is usually read as "For I have sinned, in thought, word, and deed. Through my fault, my most grievous fault.'
