@thisizcucumber Snape was never the chosen one...harry was...voldemort killed snape because voldemort thought that snape was the true owner of the elder wand because he killed dumbledore. Therefore, voldemort thought that while snape lives, the elder wand will not truly answer to him. But, voldemort was wrong. Draco malfoy disarmed dumbledore and the elder wand belonged to him. But then, harry disarmed draco and thats how harry was the true owner of the elder wand.

Voldemort was either going on a killing spree the night he killed Harry's parents or he was seeking to finish off members of the Order. He tried to kill Harry, but the spell backfired. He would have killed Lily and James anyways, as that was his original intention.

@ClaireSnell1 Well, no. His intention was to kill the childthat the prophecy given by Sybill Trelawny to Dumbledore, that Snape overheard. Which referred to his downfall. It could either be Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom. Voldemort chose Harry, because he thought that would be most likely.

So really, if Snape hadn't overheard that and told Voldemort, Harry or Neville would have ended up finishing him off at some time in history.

Alan Rickman's portrayal of Snape is some of the best acting in movie history. The casting for this character was spot-on, and I'm glad he turned out to be a "good guy" at the end. You pretty much hate him up until the end of the 7th book, then you just have to regard him as one of the bravest characters in the HP universe.

i love harry potter so much that i went to see the last movie twice, so forgive me for saying this. I just think that harry potter should have died at the end. The story would've slotted into place a lot better and i feel that jk rowling was going to do that all along but the pressure was too much. It would have made much more sense that way.

However, the curse was very strong and could only be sealed shortly in his hand (that's why it's black). Within a year, he would have died then - there was nothing one could have done. Dumbledore asked Snape to kill him if Malfoy failed - he knew of the unbreakeable vow, naturally - to protect him.

I think the only reasons why Snape actually hated Harry is because he really actually had feelings for Harry's mom, Lilly. And had some personality from his dad if anyone remembered in Order Of The Phoenix that Snape said that Harry was just like his dad in someways but he was right Harry in someway was like his father, except he wasn't a school bully or anything. And one more thing that Snape loved Harry's mom and was jealous if James and that Lilly chosed James and married him. ;)
