How to pronounce "World & Word"

When I try to pronounce world, my tongue feels like it's too big for my mouth, and my voice has to go extremely low =/

@WetPurplePaint Some words are extremely difficult.  Especially if you don't have the sounds in your native language. Take your time, practice the word slowly, and you will be able to say.

When I say WORLD I find myself moving my tongue from left to right. When i do the L sound I move my tongue to the left and then when i do the D sound it ends at the right of my mouth. Thanks for this video, now I know how to say it correctly (at least I have a better idea).

I have problems when saying sand. I went to a store asking for sandpaper and they probably thought I was asking for SUNpaper :(. embarrasing.

@Dokas80s To say SAND correctly, focus on the AH. It is the very American OPEN vowel. Sand rhymes with band, hand, land. Start by saying S, OPEN WIDE for the AH, move your tongue to behind your top front teeth for the N, then pull your tongue down for the D. Good luck and thanks for watching!

@tinimissvn Hang in there...you will get it! Try this: start by saying LD. Do this by putting your tongue behind your top teeth and say L. Pull your tongue down to say the D. Once you get that, practice WAR. Do this by rounding your lips for the W. Add the vowel OR by rounding your lips to say O then relaxing them for the ER. Now put it together. WORLD,. Good luck! @TarleSpeech thank you! i tried but only if you were here then you could listen to me saying it...when i say "world", i feel like i roll the "r" and "ld" too much and it just doesn't sound like how american ppl say it :(

@pmuc0403 OUR and HOUR are pronounced the same in MOST areas of the US. Some people, pronounce it ARE depending on their location. In fact, my native regional accent from Pittsburgh PA pronounces OUR as "are". I'll add that to my list. Thanks for the suggestion.
