In her memoir "Must You Go?" (mostly about Pinter) she seems to make light of her own work compared to his. But her historical biographies are first-rate, and brilliantly researched. They are so easy and such fun to read. This is a sign of intellectual rigour and good research, surely. She is brilliant, and would win the Booker if she did that historical / fiction, that has become so popular lately
I love Antonia Fraser, Ive read a couple of her books and in my opinion, there is no historical author that comes close - I'm reading the weaker vessel at the moment, Antonia writes not only a historical overview but using an analytical approach based on her sources that really brings the people to life and makes them personal. I love her!
