This great performance was clearly and undeniable the best ever live performance of any artist in the appollo theatre, even it has seen thousands of memorable of it... And noone ever will beat this historic event that night coz there wont be another Luther Vandross with his one and only voice. i am happy i saw him at least once live in a Monday Night Game between the Jets and 49ers when he sang the national anthem.R.I.P. Here in 1983 Luther gave the best live performance of his career and without any doubt the best live video on YouTube! I am awestruck each time I watch Luther sing this song. The man knocked Dionne down, and she was sitting on her chair when he did it. My goodness. If there was a word that beyond talent, this performance would embody that. He was a backup singer early in his career. Can you believe that? Vocals truly touched by God is all I can think to say. RIP

Luther is the best singer I have ever heard. I listened to his music on a walkman whilst I crossed over a section of the canadian prairie and it was amazing to listen to. Out there all alone with Luthers voice. Incredible. Rest in peace, you are missed.

Only Luther, and possibly Sam Cooke could take a song like this and sing it live and do such an outstanding job. When it came to live performances, no one but Luther and Sam could do it better than the record. They are 1-2 in my book. and who's 1 and who's 2 is a toss up, depending on who you liked better.
