Theme song was originally the main theme from the 1943 film "My Friend Flicka" starring Roddy McDowall. Composer is David Buttolph, who also composed the theme from "Maverick." Likely not Randy's uncle Alfred Newman, main composer on "Flicka," since Newman is not credited in "Laramie." Great theme.
A very enjoyable family western series for all ages.Has anyone got opening credits for Temple Houston, Steve Donovan US Marshall, Union Pacific, Frontier Circus,The Californians, The Americans or Jefferson Drum please?
This brief clip brings back memories of the TV series although I dont recall specific details of any episode, I didnt see anything of Wagon Train with Robert Fuller in them and none of the Medical series he was in. I do own a copy of the DVD "Return of the Seven" with Robert . I would like to get copies of the Laramie series on DVD (Zone 4 if they are available)
Look at the rocks in the background of the opening. Those LOOK like Vedauwoo near the real town of Laramie, Wyoming. Could almost swear they are except I can't place the exact outcropping.
We got the show in New Zealand, too, it was my favourite. I really liked Slim but Jess was the man, so feisty. Can 50 years really have gone by? The time seems to have passed more rapidly than Jess could empty his six-gun. Thanks for putting this up, it's revived some wonderful memories.

One of Bob Fullers earlier gigs was Laramie. He also did a great job on Emergency! as Dr. Kelly Brackett

I loved this as a young boy in Wales in the early 60's. And I couldn't improve on DavidButterworth's description of the masterful theme!
