Chris Hughes said that every now & then he dreamed they made an entire album of underproduced songs like this and that there were a lot more from where this came from. One that always comes to mind is The Madness of Roland. I would love to hear more songs like My Life In The Suicide Ranks, especially from that era.
Does anyone know if this song was recorded post-Curt Smith, or while the two were still together? I noticed the video has almost zero clips of Curt, and seems to be pretty much all Roland.
I know it's attributed to Seeds Of Love, but could it have been intended for the album, but left on the shelf, and not recorded by Roland until after the break-up?
The video being Roland-centric might just be reflective of nourset's tastes/preferences.
However, whlie this song was recorded during the early sessions for 'The Seeds Of Love,' when Curt was still around, he isn't on this track. It's Roland, Dave Bascombe, Ian Stanley and Chris Hughes, along with the drum programme for 'Rhythm Of Life' (which ended up on Oleta Adams' album). It's all improvised jamming, the song was never "properly recorded," according to the SM&L liner notes.
guess who? i haven't seen this posted before anywhere.this may be my favorite song from "Saturnine,Marshall &Lunatic" its almost like being there with them and you can tell Roland is really feeling this one.thank you so much! you have such good stuff.have you ever seen Roland live?
Wow, Prince finished the song with them!!!
