  • ummmm Where is the turbos???

  • what type of oil do you recommend? i live in the Northeast (NJ) and my car is driven in all temperatures. not tracked.

  • @pksangavaram - The owner's manual recommends Mobil 1 0W-40 for the 996. That's what I use.

  • What is an air oil seperator...I'm trying to find a video to show me how to change one? A mechanic that does not work on porschs said that is my problem but i can't seem to find a how to video? I'm a

Female who knows nothing about cars but had a friend that is wrong to try it? Any suggestions?

  • @ptpestcontrol - I haven't seen a video on that, and I haven't needed to replace it... I suggest that you do some Google searches for the "factory service manuals" - they're available online as PDFs. Also, you might spend some time searching forum websites like Rennlist and Pelican. Good luck!

  • what type of oil do u use on the 996?

  • @pksangavaram - I use Mobil 1 0W-40

  • Nice video! It was good to see a torque wrench being used on the filter housing but try to reach the click-off in a single smooth motion. You can also try soaking the new cartridge in oil before installing it, this may help the engine develop pressure faster.

  • FYI, when using the torque wrench a single smooth stroke is recommended for the stroke where it clicks. Once it clicks you're done and you don't need to do 2nd and 3rd strokes to verify the click.

  • how hard is it to maintain these cars? They pretty reliable for daily driving, i would love to own a porsche, right now ive only had experience with vettes and do the maintenance myself to save me some bucks. Always wanted to own a german car, bmw, porsche or audi, but fear maintenance being outrageous

  • These videos are great, thank you for posting them.

  • I just bought a 03 Boxster S with 60 K Miles and after driving it for just 500 Miles, it over heated and when I opened the trunk, the dreaded 'Mochachino' was oozing out of the radiator cap. The Heatexchanger was removed and turned out to be OK. The Cam shaft was replaced by the previous owner , as were the head Gaskets, 6 months ago.

Any idea where the problem might be?

I'm really bummed! I was in heaven for the few short days that I drove it

  • Can one elevate the rear of the car on regular jacks to change the oil?

  • @budcowan - Yes, that will work. Please use jack stands, and place them under the aluminum subframe that the suspension bolts to. I know some people that have had good success backing their car up to the lip in their garage, so the tail (engine) overhangs and gives them a few extra inches of clearance.

  • Thanks much for this. How easy would it be to elevate the rear wheels on common jacks to access the filter?

  • Ihope you do many more. I own a 968 and would love to see what you have for that lineage of Porsches. Yhanks very much for your great work. It is the best of it's type on YouTube.

  • @monteolsen1 - I have some videos about changing the timing belt and water pump on 944 variant cars... Check them out!

  • Excellent video. Thanks for that.

Do you change your Brake Pads yourself, or do you have the dealer do that for you?

  • @saeidmomtahan - yes... do a video search

  • @saeidmomtahan - Yes, I change my own brake pads. Look at my other videos.

  • Must be nice to have lift. I'm going to follow this procedure on a 07 cayman. Just need to have the right size oil receiver tank.

    great vid.

  • Outstanding. Thanks!!!!!!

  • Thanks a very good tutorial. I'm sick of paying lots of money for Porsche to do this.

  • Thanks man. I'm sick of paying Porsche to do stuff like this. Theres no mystery here and you explain it very well. I've saved a whole packet by watching this. Many regards.

  • How close is this to changing the oil on a boxster?

  • @narcosis929 - almost identical - just picture the engine oriented so it's facing the other way... and it's more towards the middle of the car. Specs are all the same.

  • @vsvenson Thanks so much!

  • @vsvenson Great, this is going to help so much

  • nice

  • thanks good video!!

  • By far the best and the most detailed on you tube.Keep them coming...Thanks
