  • Awsome. Thanks a lot. I'll have to check out yer other vids.

  • can you link the tabs? :-)

  • @worldstage6 Glad you like my vids!

  • Cool - I know those chords

Exellent way to display it by the way - is how you actally see it when playing :)

  • I sure admire guys like you whose fingers, unlike mine, evolved past Neanderthal.

  • Exellent playing, I'll try and figure it out, you don't do the same with Sailing to Philly do you?

  • @gizatoob Sailing to Phili is my least favorite of all the vids I've done, yet it's the second most popular. I've been working on a fingerpicking version that's much better and when I get off my butt I'll post it one day. . .

  • I'm awful at figuring out the chords by looking at the hand. Is that a C chord with a G bass note? and then some progression of G, F, Am, and a G7 thrown in there occasionally? anything I'm missing?

  • Thanks so much a great tutorial you have helped me a great deal to enjoy this great song and now play along.

Much appreciated good luck and best wishes,

    Mike

  • Thanks Mike! I appreciate the comment. . .

  • Thats good

  • Wow! This is a really beautiful piece and you play it very, very well... Thank you for sharing your talents through such a wonderful video. You are an excellent musician...

  • oh ist das schön!

  • Danke!

  • Outstanding - many thanks - I'll get practising

How about done with boneaparte - love the picking with the capo - and I reckon he's up on the 5th fret for that one. Does he use an alternate tuning for that one ???

  • yes could you please do done with bonaparte, i think he uses open G tuning and capo on 3.

    Thx

  • Thanks to both for the kind words.

I just watched some video and it's definitly not standard tuning. Mark is capoed on the 5th fret and the other guy with the wierd looking banjo sounding thing is capoed somewhere else.

I've never worked in alternate tunings, haven't a clue. I've worked it out in standard tuning, but I doubt that'd be interesting. There are two guys who I think play it pretty well, check out themaninme and nmdx001.

  • @jpmist I'm the same, it's bad enough learnin the normal way lol, it's fun tho to play with a capo, they can really make some thing's sound great,

i find myself playing thing's with the capo different to the tab's etc and it still sound's right,i think it depen's on your voice, You should try that.

  • wow he can play a guitar upsidedown :D

  • I'm in your debt for the example you set If I study it, I'll learn the tune. I'll watch it a lot and I'll give all I've got I hope it won't take me 'til June. There are the fingers and there are the frets I cannot let this chance be missed. If I learn this song and don't play it wrong, it's thanks to the good JPMIST.
  • Alternate lyrics! Nice!

Thanks for the comment. . .

  • You really helped me. My friends and I worked up an arrangement with the 2 vocalists, 2 guitars, and fiddle. Love singing it.

    Thanks !

  • Glad to hear it, let me know if you post the video!

  • very rarely ders talent like Knopler has....

  • Wow!!

Could i someday see you playing "a place where we used to live"?

Thank you very much and keep on going, master!

    Congratulations.
