If the problem keeps happening, most likely you have defective cartridge. I've had this problem before with other cartridge games. They are pretty fickle when it comes to saved data, in fact if you leave them sit for a long time with out playing they'll lose the data no matter what. That has happened to me with a lot of my old GB and SNES games, it sucks but there's not much you can do.
i have it on my GBA, i have finished this game and it was cool... about your problem,,, if your cartridge have a battery required, its for saving and loading games.. and if the battery in your cartridge is empty,,, you should change it with a new one... that's the only problem in that...
Kinda looks like it right? but in reality ToS happened before ToP. if you play ToP closely..you'll see many references that further proofs this, including that some where between that ToS and ToP time gap the world was high technologically adavanced with New York style cities.

The Super Famicon version was translated by DeJap and the Playstation version was translated by Absolute Zero. You can find them easily. You can even play them on your PS2 if you have the right stuff, too. ;D (Swap Magic 3 and fliptop, I think?)
for the most part there isn't one. the only one i remember is that tales of phantasia is set in the same world as tales of symphonia except tales of phantasia takes place a long time after tales of symphonia.

No, its the same world. They got merged at the end of the last game and they probably stay tht way. There are the same cities though. But strangely in Dawn of the New World it snows in Triet.

No, because those games didnt exist then, and even if they did, after 4000 years, its not surprising for the names of people, even famous ones, to be lost in time.
They do reference things like Derris Karhlan, and the names of the moons in Phantasia are the names of the old worlds of Symphonia (Sylverant and Tethe'alla) but that was true in ToS (sylverant saw the moon Tethe'alla and vice versa)
yeah, I forgot about her. My theory is that all chiefs get that name, as I find it unlikely that the same family maintained control of the village for 4000 years.

actually there is a slight reference to Lloyd Irving in the game. This may sound weird but Cless Alevin in Japanese is Cress Arvein or something like that. Now if you say Arvein, you see that it sounds like "Irving". That is as close as an Irving reference I can think of.
So tales of phantasia is like a couple 100 years after Tales of Symphonia, also when the Tales of Symphonia : Dawn of the New World comes out, you could prolly compare the ToP map and ToS: Dawn of the new world, since the Tos: Dotnw is 2 years after Tethe'alla and Slyvarant merged, sorry for bad gramar ^^

Yes, but that doesn't mean it's a different world... it may be just that they decided to call their moons after the worlds that used to exist. It's obvious it's the same world when you look at the map, places, music, spirits (The light Spirit is usually Rem in other Tales), elves using magic and... well there's just LOTS of hints about it being the same world.
That doesn't mean it's a different world. I think of it as a squeal to Tales of Symphonia. At the end you never find out what Lloyd names the tree. The main character of this one has a similar last name as Lloyd. The atks used by this dude is like Lloyds and Regals atks(Lloyd wanted to learn Regals fighting style). The main bad dude is from the thingy in Tale of Symphonia.

for the most part there isn't one. the only one i remember is that tales of phantasia is set in the same world as tales of symphonia except tales of phantasia takes place a long time after tales of symphonia.

No, its the same world. They got merged at the end of the last game and they probably stay tht way. There are the same cities though. But strangely in Dawn of the New World it snows in Triet.

The climates were changed when the worlds merged at different places, so it would probably snow in Triet and Flanoir would be one big desert.

No, because those games didnt exist then, and even if they did, after 4000 years, its not surprising for the names of people, even famous ones, to be lost in time.
They do reference things like Derris Karhlan, and the names of the moons in Phantasia are the names of the old worlds of Symphonia (Sylverant and Tethe'alla) but that was true in ToS (sylverant saw the moon Tethe'alla and vice versa)

yeah, I forgot about her. My theory is that all chiefs get that name, as I find it unlikely that the same family maintained control of the village for 4000 years.

well the mizuho culture could be different. Its not hard to think that the last name of the cheif comes before the last name of whoever Sheena marries (which wouldn't be Lloyd or Zelos btw, if you ask me. DONT HURT ME!)

actually there is a slight reference to Lloyd Irving in the game. This may sound weird but Cless Alevin in Japanese is Cress Arvein or something like that. Now if you say Arvein, you see that it sounds like "Irving". That is as close as an Irving reference I can think of.

So tales of phantasia is like a couple 100 years after Tales of Symphonia, also when the Tales of Symphonia : Dawn of the New World comes out, you could prolly compare the ToP map and ToS: Dawn of the new world, since the Tos: Dotnw is 2 years after Tethe'alla and Slyvarant merged, sorry for bad gramar ^^

Nope, Phantasia takes place 4,000 years before Symphonia. That's interesting, though, about the world maps. I hope they do pay that much attention to detail.

Yes, but that doesn't mean it's a different world... it may be just that they decided to call their moons after the worlds that used to exist. It's obvious it's the same world when you look at the map, places, music, spirits (The light Spirit is usually Rem in other Tales), elves using magic and... well there's just LOTS of hints about it being the same world.

That doesn't mean it's a different world. I think of it as a squeal to Tales of Symphonia. At the end you never find out what Lloyd names the tree. The main character of this one has a similar last name as Lloyd. The atks used by this dude is like Lloyds and Regals atks(Lloyd wanted to learn Regals fighting style). The main bad dude is from the thingy in Tale of Symphonia.
