Beautiful plane but they should of kept it's original markings.This plane was a JG52 bird when the Allies captured it,they put the JG300 emblem on it cause they wanted it to represent Gunther Rall's last command which is cool and i can understand the reasoning,but Rall served with JG52 for the majority of his career so it could of kept it's original markings too.They did a great job with the restoration,the only thing that sticks out to me is the placement of the JG300 emblem

wrong! It's a very real museum. Been to it many of times. And yes, those are plastic German soldiers........

texas becareful on quoting airspeed most of them are way off what the real aircraft did. You also have to take into acount how it was measured in level fight or in a dive. you need to specify that last part

I've read that g10 top speed was 429 mph at 24 600 feet. You should also consider that 109's would loose max speed every hour they flew. Finnish airforce notices that after only 50 hours of flying 109 would be 50 kilometres per hour slower than a new one. That's about 30 miles or so. I don't know if Mustangs or Spits would have this feature but I doudt that they lost that much speed. Knoke told in his book that 109 would be faster by ten or so km/h if they would wax it and then polish it.

The mustangs and later models of the spits with the merlin Engs the speed would drop off after only 10 hrs of fight time and most of the Merlin Eng did not last over 25hrs before they had to be rebuilt,They ran them hard during the war,after 10hrs on a mustang is speed would drop off by 40 mph and the spit even more,,

Even a car will lose horse power over time if jot maintained and tuned up well. Theres alot that can make you lose power in a well used engine from ring wear to a dirty air filter, old spark plugs, old burnt oil. A good tune up can bring some life back to a well used engine but eventualy they must be rebuilt. Though i seriously dont see how it would be losing enough power to drop its max speed by that much an hour. 40's engine technology i guess. They didnt exactly have performance engine oil.

@Master7770 most wont know this but a progressive clogged catalyic converter robs half the power and some just retire the car. ihave had this happen on two different cars and just knock a passage throught them and they are good as new.
