You could never die from it, otherwise it would be EXECUTION. Get your terms straight
@rjphammond FYI, The American Psychological Association stands with the U.N. U.N. Convention Against Torture and the Geneva Conventions definition of torture: mock execution; water-boarding or any other form of simulated drowning or suffocation; sexual humiliation; rape; cultural or religious humiliation; exploitation of phobias or psychopathology; induced hypothermia; and the use of psychotropic drugs or mind-altering substances for the purpose of eliciting information
@rjphammond In addition, the following acts were banned for the purpose of eliciting information in an interrogations process: hooding; forced nakedness; stress positions; the use of dogs to threaten or intimidate; physical assault including slapping or shaking; exposure to extreme heat or cold; threats of harm or death; and isolation and/or sleep deprivation
@rjphammond used in a manner that represents significant pain or suffering or in a manner that a reasonable person would judge to cause lasting harm; or the threatened use of any of the above techniques to the individual or to members of the individual's family.
As far as I am concerned we should use every resource, weapon, and strategy to end wars as fast as possible. Soldiers can hardly shoot a god dam thing without getting sued. Why can we not torture people? They torture our people mercilessly.
As far as I am concerned, we should use ever resource and strategy available to avoid war. Such as A) Not lieing to the American public claiming to go into a hostile country looking for WMDs, and B) not interfere with the business of other countries. The only reason any of our soldiers should be in another country is if the UN has to send in troops. Which those objectives are occupy and restore peace/keep the peace.
So your saying that you think that we're in the middle east because Bush can't control his Testosterone? You must be retarded. The three simplest reasons as to why we are there are A) Saddam said he had WMDs, we told them to give them up and he didn't B) We were already there to begin with. C) 9/11. We were there in the first place to keep the peace, then 9/11 happened and the troops surged in reffered to as the "troop surge", so no 9/11 was not the sole cause of the war on terror
Wow, your ignorance is astounding. Let me refute your points - UN Weapons inspectors found no evidence of WMD's in Iraq, nor the capability to make such, our own intelligence said there were no WMD's - We were in Saudi Arabia and surrounding nations, we hadn't invaded Iraq, dumbass (by your logic, if a burglar breaks into your house he should kill rape and steal since he's there already) - and Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11! Stop taking talking points from Cheney's cock and Faux Noise
I guess I don't understand the oppositions position on current detainee compliance methods. I think we all agree that putting a bag over someone's head is bad and water boarding is also wrong. Plus, I have no love for what they did at Abu Grav.
However, the use of sleep deprivation and other psychologically effective methods seems fair especially if the person is a high value target.
Also, its important to note that before they even use those methods they usually try to bribe them first.
They use it to understand the psychological effect it has, and how it's not intended to gather information, but rather to make you say what the torturer wants to hear. Look up Jesse Ventura on the subject.
I see your argument, but what if a terrorist kidnapped Obama's children? Wouldn't you be enraged if someone took children of yours and the only way to get them was from torture?
A few days without sleep isn't torture. The people at BUD/s do it all the time and do you hear them complaigning? No. The only reason the terrorists (that is what they are) are whinning is because they know the liberals who seem to have a short term memory loss malfunction or something will raise hell about it!
Fuck you. There's a reason that it's called the Grand Ole Party, and it's not for tolerating liberal hippies like you. People should have their own opinions, but you shouldn't spam about the government without a justifiable reason. Yeah, you're too stupid to form an opinion, but you could at least try.
Fuck you. There's a reason it's called the Grand Ole Party, and it isn't for torturing people, I assure you. What would you do to the people who were responsible for 9/11? Give them some flowers and a hug?
What would you do to the people who were responsible for 9/11?
Well, what have we done in the past, we brought them to trial and if they where found guilty. WE EXACUTED THEM. Thats what you do to people that kill innocent people. No one is saying give them flowers and a hug. This is America and we dont bring ourselves down to the level of terrorist. WE DONT TORTURE. Like Pres. Reagan said so well. "America is better than that." And he was right.
Bush administration framed the acts of terrorists as, ahem, war. he elevated their rights. he gave them validity so he could start a mess in the middle east. they were, as you infer, criminals, and their only rights should have been to be hunted down.
When terrorists slam planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon it's considered an act of war. He did not elevate their rights, look at what muslims have to do at airports now as compared to normal people. They have been under extra scrutiny since 9/11 even though most of them are not radical. Bush did not want to start a war. The troops have been in the middle-east for over 30 years keeping the peace and then it turned into a war after 9/11. Saddam was a criminal and was hunted down.
Unfortunately the Liberal-Progressive pussies that run this country now are against Capital Punishment. They feel it is better to put the killers in prison so we can discover what WE did to make them hate us so much. They feel it is better to put the killers in prison for a long time so the killers can think about what they did wrong. Then, eventually some superpussy will declare the killers have learned their lesson and Pardon them.

It's probably since I read a very dark piece of literature about torture and just hearing the word makes me want to cry. It's not anti-american, it's anti-human, it's anti-moral, it's anti-anything that is good.
Good video though. Really liked it.

pouring water on someones face isnt torture. Stop crying you fucking drama queen. At least we are not not cutting the heads off people with hunting knives like our enemies are.
We are not pouring water just on their face we are DROWNING them. DROWNING. Should we justify it just because our enemies are savages? Maybe in...SOMALIA, but not here in the UNITED STATES. We actually have values and morals but hey, if you want to move to Somalia and torture people there be my guest because we really don't need more people who think like you do.
Sure torture isn't right. Neither is mindlessly bashing the Bush administration when you don't even have the facts right. You shouldn't get all your information from CNN, asshole.
Well if you put someone through pain and suffering long enough, they will confess to just about anything. Which means not only do you not get real intel from them, but you also end up hurting someone who ma very well have NOT been involved (As exampled by the recent spate of trials)
You need real information. Make them see that You the interrogator are their only hope of getting off.
Ask yourself is it if the person speaks arabic worships islam u have to kidnap in front of his family and torture him being a suspected terrorist without concrete evidence that he is a terrorist we give him torture?
Wait a minute. Somebody thinks this is REALLY hard-hitting political commentary? You're sending this fruity yawnstorm to your pals?
Meanwhile, dirtbags all over the world would happily slit your throat or beat you with a bat or shove pointy things under your fingernails just for the crime of being an American. And we should be ashamed for extracting vital info by scaring a terrorist a little? Oh no...Get out the tiny violins. Poor homicidal terrorist got his feelings hurt. Whaaaaa.
Geez, you really went batshit, didn'tcha. Was it the flowers? Or the bright sunny colors that made you break?
Or is that you;re one of those wanna be's - all for a totalitarian regime on the one hand - while claiming you're not, on the other, and that you just torture the torturers, so it's okay.
You and DICK and Karl Rove, wanting to play the same games they do because it makes you feel like you have something between your legs other than your tail.
And so what if they will do it? Why should that matter? Can you honestly say that you believe in your heart that it is justifiable to torture a person simply because they would have done the same to you?
Please, you must be a civilized person, know that you must be better than that. Didn't your mother ever teach you to walk away from fights even if you've been punched?
Sorry, but I'm missing something, waterbording is not torture. But what other countries do is much worse.Did you ever think of all the people in other countries that had their nairs pulled out,or beaten, starved, burned, cut upon with knives, just because of what they believed in?And you call waterbording torture?I mean, when they're waterborded, they don't actally let them drown. And when we Americans have prisoners we don't starve, beat, cut,or any of those things to our prisoners.
Your facts are a little mislead dude. Hell we have guards in our own local prison systems that ruthlessly beat American convicts on a daily basis for no good reason. What makes you think that we treat our foreign prisoners any better?
I agree this is one that all republicans and (everyone else) needs to see. I hope the Obama's admin keeps there word on stopping this, but so far it's been all talk.
When you watch videos like this, it IS REAL TORTURE. This video should be used at Guantanamo by the CIA. If this doesn't get them to talk, nothing will.

Sure torture isn't right. Neither is mindlessly bashing the Bush administration when you don't even have the facts right. You shouldn't get all your information from CNN, asshole.

Torturing terrorists is good!!!!

How? It has been proven to be counterproductive.
How is it counter productive? you ask?
Well if you put someone through pain and suffering long enough, they will confess to just about anything. Which means not only do you not get real intel from them, but you also end up hurting someone who ma very well have NOT been involved (As exampled by the recent spate of trials)
You need real information. Make them see that You the interrogator are their only hope of getting off.
Thats how we caught sudam

As a matter of fact, under the Geneva Convention (Which I believe that the U.S.A. signed)
Water-boarding was officially defined as a form of torture, and internationally banned.
When the Viet Cong were using water-boarding to break American prisoners, the U.S. government said that they were barabaric for doing so.
And now the U.S. does the same thing.
To innocent people turned in by forign bounty-hunters, no less.
This is what happens when you have a Dick for a vice-president.

When you watch videos like this, it IS REAL TORTURE. This video should be used at Guantanamo by the CIA. If this doesn't get them to talk, nothing will.

Great - well done - well stated.
All the Republican nutters ( and that is all of them) need to see this one. I'm sending it to everyone on my email list.
