It's a SAD reality that so many people including our politicians are supporting something CURRENTLY causing so much destruction and disease. If Iggy was really concerned about sustainability and that includes sustaining people's health and well being, then he would support a moratorium on TS devo until the science shows us that we can move ahead - BUT right now, science shows Canada is embarking on something very dangerous - this is a real injustice - and people clap in ignorance?
While I do not agree with Greenpeace's tactics, as they were very disrespectful to Ignatieff and misrepresented the UBC population, I firmly believe that Ignatieff had no substantive position on the tarsands. Mentioning that it is in Canada's national interest and that it provides 6 billion dollars of tax revenue does not convince me that the negative environmental consequences are worth the comparatively minor benefits. Moreover, should we be looking out for multinational oil corporations?
@simmsa24 Thank you rising above the "us & them". I don't agree with all of their tactics. I did see a doc. on the Lupicon Cree's plight on their youtube channel. People I spoke to had not heard of Keystone, let alone the Lupicon. Or how our government deals with "collateral damage. My deepest concern is for our Boreal Forest, our land our water, our air, our health, our future and the impact vs. reward of the proposed Keystone (who has had 12 leaks in 12 months) XL pipeline. We are the change.

"You can't pick and choose which facts you like" ---Uh, apparently Iggy does, as fossil fuels are the reason the climate is tail-spinning into catastrophe. Chew on that yes-men crowd.
these tree hugging hippies definitely embarrassed UBC! Canada is such a resource driven economy...these greenpeace advocates are sooo F*ing ignorant on the tar sand issue...pathetic!
Ignorant by the fact that tar sand does pollute earth, release tons of carbon into air. It uses massive, in tons, of DRINKING water as well as ENERGY to convert sand into oil. Same goes to Biofuel. None of following resources are sustainable. Fuck, you get your fucking billion dollars for couple decades, but after a century, you get broken environment and messed up earth, bust economy, and failed policy. Fucking dick. Enjoy your economic security.
@88yomama88 no they didn't - they remained on stage for the remainder of the presentation. They were disruptive. As micheal said, they made their point and should have moved aside so others could ask questions
@crazyeyemother you're junk!

Iggy avoided giving any concise answer to tar sands or carbon emissions policy so he deserved a wake up call from the green peace crusaders!!!

It's freedom of speech. I don't see what the problem is. They stopped fairly quickly and made thier point.
