the doc is the greatest player ever! the game would not be what it is without him, the rucker wouldnt be what it is, and michael jordan wouldnt be "his airness". great video man!
Doctor J was my all time favorite player and that is saying alot for a guy from Boston. He however wasn't the greatest but makes my first 5 team along with Russell, Bird, Magic and (Michael best ever). Second team is Moses, John Halvicek, the Big E, Iceman and Jerry West.
yes best ever, he also had the grace of a ballet dancer, i watched him play for 908 games( 11 years) in philly and i never saw him fall to the ground not more than 5 or 7 times. unlike todays players when they fall down just shooting jumpers or layups. doc would get hammered in mid air and would still land on his feet and not fall, barely did he fall to the ground, he had the grace of a ballerina.i miss his game.
Doc was a great finisher because he once said that he knew that for him to get paid well for a living playing ball he knew had had to squeeze himself between that rim and himself, he had to finish strong and that meant slamming it when ever posible to make sure it went in.. or making up moves so the ball would go in. thats why he was so exiting to watch because he was driven by his moto, either do it or go home hungry, not get paid well. he lived with that moto all his b-ball career.
awsome video i remember when my father told me that once doctor j team got into a fight one time but the doctor went to the side and sat down. I wish other players of todays NBA would fallow his example and sit down when tempers are raging real high on the court and a fight breaks out.
I remember that fight very well the 76ers were playing the portland trailblazers and Darryl Dawkins got into a fight with Maurice Lucas and just about everyone EXCEPT Dr J was fighting!!!!!!!!! He exibited real class and poise by sitting on the floor while the fight was going on!!!!!!!!!!

This video was perfection. In my personal opinion I think he was the greatest basketball player to ever live. I even named my son after him. Julius

Nice vid, its a shame this these highlights only scratch the surface. His truly astonishing stuff was not captured by cameras.
