  • Love this group, grew up on them, awesome song as well.

  • there was an american band with same name thus the change to just simply the beat

  • @darkbinder99

Sorry your comment doesn't make much sense !!!

The Beat were always known as "The Beat" from the day they formed. It was only for the American market that they had to change it to "The English Beat".

But from the day they were formed right up to now when they still play reunion concerts they are quite plain and simply called "The Beat"... ;-)

  • This song makes me sooooooooo fucking happy. One of the top five pop groups of the 80s.

  • great tune, thanks for posting! -i never heard this version before

  • This is my favorite Beat song. it makes me smile every time i hear it :)

  • werent they from Birmingham?

  • great pic & song. i also bought this on 12" single...happy memories :)

  • I've loved these guys forever, yet I've never heard this version of the song. Thanks so much for posting it.

  • hh...I love this song. It was rattling around my brain the last couple days. Really inspiring as you try to find some balance in your life between "working" and "slacking".

I always remember to smile after hearing this song.

    Thanks for posting!

  • This song is the best antidepressant. Thanks for posting...brings back great memories.

  • Glad you liked it, it's one of my favorites too, never understood though why there called The English Beat elsewhere in the world, but I'll add the tag like you suggest if it helps folk find it... :)

  • @MadFranko008 They were called The English Beat in The U.S. because there was already a band called The Beat.

  • @FreonFire Kinda thought that might be the case, thanks...

Any idea when this band were formed though, The English Beat Have always been known in the UK & Europe as The Beat and were formed in 78/79...

  • @FreonFire That's Paul Collins and the Beat. Good band, but these guys here were truly fantastic-- and yes, they were from Birmingham, cowfluff8. This is a different version than the one found on the album (Special Beat Service). Both great.

  • @MadFranko008 Yeah, I am from the US and I never knew them as just "The Beat" until I had been listening to them for like 15 years...

  • You should tag this under "English Beat" for us North American fans to be able to find it.

  • Finally!! One of my favourite Beat songs - thanks for uploading :)
