The Beat were always known as "The Beat" from the day they formed. It was only for the American market that they had to change it to "The English Beat".
But from the day they were formed right up to now when they still play reunion concerts they are quite plain and simply called "The Beat"... ;-)
hh...I love this song. It was rattling around my brain the last couple days. Really inspiring as you try to find some balance in your life between "working" and "slacking".
I always remember to smile after hearing this song.
Glad you liked it, it's one of my favorites too, never understood though why there called The English Beat elsewhere in the world, but I'll add the tag like you suggest if it helps folk find it... :)
@FreonFire That's Paul Collins and the Beat. Good band, but these guys here were truly fantastic-- and yes, they were from Birmingham, cowfluff8. This is a different version than the one found on the album (Special Beat Service). Both great.
Love this group, grew up on them, awesome song as well.

@MadFranko008 They were called The English Beat in The U.S. because there was already a band called The Beat.

@FreonFire Kinda thought that might be the case, thanks...

@MadFranko008 Yeah, I am from the US and I never knew them as just "The Beat" until I had been listening to them for like 15 years...

You should tag this under "English Beat" for us North American fans to be able to find it.
