  • I was inspired by your daughters Fiddling so I have taken up the Fiddle as if the Banjo was not enough Ha Ha

  • @rickshunter1 Haha! Fiddle is a real challenge. It's hard to make a banjo sound bad, but a fiddle? Whew! A fiddle can humble a person in a hurry.

  • Is the fiddle hard? I'm buying one on Friday and I want to know how hard it is to learn. I've been playing guitar for 5-6 years and Ukulele for about 2-3 years. Will it be easier for me to pick up Violin because I've got experience or will it still be a struggle?

  • QUE BONITO ES REALMENTE MARAVILLOSO EL FLOLKLOR DE USTEDES, UN SALUDO DESDE CORDOBA VERACRUZ MEXICO, ... VERY NICE

  • Im heading the states in the summer, to explore this music, no other reason. Summer here i come :D:D

  • That girl is so beautiful... and TALENTED!!!

  • congratulations to your wife/ yourself /daughters for these awesome tunes and also to this Cajun fiddle presentation!!. from my point of view, this is what music is about., family and friends gettin togather and having 'real" fun and Great moments and memories. Our family of 9 did similar "get togathers" back in the 60's with Guitars /Hohner Harmonicas and Accordian, THANK YOU FOR YE ALL MUSIC,it is a lovely job, well done and plus this God given" talent that ye all have 10 ---10

  • @battlehrfred Ah, I can tell you truly understand how fun it is to sit around and make music with family and friends.

  • wow !! are ye all from Louisanna country!!?? lovely job and super playing I love it,it reminds of the many many times of 8 years travelling to Louisanna and listening to my radio while i stayed at many hotels and enjoyes the french cajan music!!! I love ye guys:( from Newfoundland Canada)

  • @battlehrfred We're from Missouri. We just like the Cajun sound, so we try to play some of it. We don't get it quite right, but it's fun to try. This is actually not a true Cajun tune. It was composed by Buck Owens' guitar player, Don Rich.

  • @mrgreer51

You guys would fit right in down in Lafayette

  • Awesome playing. Charlie Danielshas nothing on you.

  • Emily is so very talented as you are also MrGreer, but Emily steals the show as she is so beautiful

  • Just bought me a real nice German fiddle and started my lessons tonight and my teacher said thats the first tune he's gonna teach me. I used to play a long time ago and gettin started back playin again. I'm 49 and I cant wait to brush the rust off and play again..... It is something that I love dearly and I really enjoy yall's videos....they gave me the " want to " to pick it back up. My hat's off to you!

  • @redmuddr Best of luck to you! This is not a difficult song. You just have to get the double strings right. As far as that goes, nothing that we do is very difficult.

  • what a heartful expression

  • i love it, excellent sound and very entertaining!

  • Ça C'est Bon! Hiyeeee!!! This Cajun girl loves it!!!

  • muy bonita melodia, muy alegre y bien tocada como siempre, gracias por el video.saludos para ti y tu familia.jorge barba.

  • Damn!! Beautiful! The sound that women too! wooo !! great job!!

  • qu est ce qu elle est agreable la demoisel a regarder !!

  • Thumbs up for being bare foot wherever you go.

  • A very good cajun sound! where are you from?

  • @mrgildons We're just wanna-be Cajuns. We live in SW MO and NW Arkansas.

  • How do you tune your fiddle? Standard violin tuning (GDAE) or Cajun/Metis cross tuning (AEAC#)?

  • @Buffalo49 We use standard tuning on everything except for "Black Mountain Rag," which is cross-tuned.

  • i love the way that fiddle sounds

  • @Hooligans310 Thanks. It was a very nice fiddle. Unfortunately, thieves broke into our house and stole a bunch of things, among them, this fiddle. The police eventually caught the thieves, but not before they trashed the fiddle. I wish they had sold it instead of tearing it up. Anyway, we have another fiddle now, and it also has a nice sound.

  • @mrgreer51

Reading that they trashed your fiddle actually made me cringe :S

Anyway, you are very good and I hope you are getting along well with your new fiddle

  • What is the name of your cd and where can I purchase it?

  • awesome fiddle playing. It brings back a lot of memories.thank you so much. You should be very proud.

  • All your posts are terrific...and it's clear to me you've hit upon the most important detail of all for any performer- a distinctive hat.

  • great fiddlen

  • Stunning fiddle playing, thank you

  • Us YouTubers really enjoy your music and videos, Only problem we ain't getting enough of it !!! ha Dick

  • I love to listen to ya'll! You have a lovely family and all of you are so very talented. I saw the video with your mama and she was wonderful to listen to and watch. Listening reminds me of my daddy. He and his brother were musicians in their younger years and played at jambourees and radio stations in Miss(my state), Louisiana and Alabama. I have a lovely picture of them with their guitars in front of their parents 1936 car(they were going to a jambouree). I love all your videos!

  • @c44LuWanda Thank you!!!

  • excellent fiddle there and I appreciate that hat just as much sir.

  • 24 dipsticks

  • I like the way you play cajun fiddle the best; even better than don rich.thank you.

  • I want to know what's in the jug in the background :)

  • @docsavage98 The clay jug is just a door stop. Boring, I know. The milk jug has plant food in it. I forgot to remove it before we recorded.

  • Pshh, i thought i could play this until i heard she was playing to strings at the same time and they both had fingerings. this is really good. now i feel stupid XD

  • J'amie ca! All I wanted to do was yell AyEeee!

  • Beautiful!!!!!!!! I'll have to play this in the background as I make my next batch of Kentucky style Jambalaya :-)

  • Really wonderful. But is she really fiddling, she makes it look so simple.

  • AWESOME....and your CD comes out when?

  • Wonderful ! I love !

  • Nice playing!

  • Very tasty!

  • Hello Miss Emily, please tell me why you are bare footed? My wife is always bare footed and complains it is cold. What gives?

  • very good but where are all the guitar runs ??

  • @monsterbucksonly This kind of music is noted for lots of guitar runs, but with only two instruments playing, I didn't want to detract from the total sound. If you want to hear a guitar run, check out our version of "Down Yonder." I put a dandy in that one.

  • I think it sounded great !!

  • yes thts cool back here where im from i play the guitar for a couple guys who play fiddle we also pick bluegrass this stuff is so fun and enjoyable by the way im from montana ill post some vids of us playn a few tunes on here and yes i like your version of down yonder we also playn tht but i do the run twice and canjun fiddle we play in the key of A but it is very cool tht everyone has a complete different style of every song tht is so cool.

  • @monsterbucksonly I don't make out to Montana very often, but if you come our way, let me know and I'll get up a music party. (I have a brother in Pocatella, ID,but I don't out there very often either.)

  • that sounds awesome would be fun

  • I love your playing! every time I youtube you guys, I turn up the volume because my 2yr old and 11month old like to dance to it :D i very much enjoy your music!

  • @MuffinCup137 Having little kids dance to our music is the best compliment of all! Thanks for sharing that!

  • What a Joke, Who cares where anyones hands are ? Even if Emily holds the Fiddle up side down, The music sounds great ! And if it were only a audio tape you complainers wouldn't know where anyones hands were ! Dick

  • Great Job!!! Really enjoy the Job you folks both do, But Emily is hot stuff on a Fiddle! Wow She plays like a Pro. ! Not only a very good fiddle player but also a very cute one at that ! Dick

  • Damn girl can play a fine fiddle!

  • mrgreer51 : The only thing wrong with this song is that it is just too short. It needs to be at least two or three minutes longer. It is so beautiful. Your daughter plays this song far better than any other version I have ever heard.

  • mrgreer51 I think you and your family are great musicians,I would love to be able to play like that.

All the best from Wales UK.

  • @eejwelshtaff Thank you, and hello to Wales!

  • a pancake wrist is where your wrist is flat, and its supposed to be arched, so work on it, and with the bowing just move your wrist, with the flat wrist it is hard to reach the 4th finger.

with the arch you are more capable.

  • bonne musique

  • what size of fiddle is Emily using?

  • @kayp1185 It is a standard 4/4 size fiddle. This fiddle was stolen in late December. The one I found to replace it is very old (over 300 years), so the neck on it is a wee bit shorter.

  • @mrgreer51 thanks for replying. aw thats a shame it got stolen! she is fantastic, you both are, ive recently just got a fiddle, and excited to learn more, shes a nice inspiration after all these videos! keep up the awesome work here! :)

  • what size is the fiddle Emily is using?

  • simples, mas ótimo!

  • does the gallon of water really need a doily?

  • @Channellcrossing Haha! That gallon of water is plant food. I forgot to remove it before we taped this. But yes, it needs a doily.

  • This is great

  • Where are yall from?

  • @thestaple8 SW MO

  • @mrgreer51 sounds good keep it up

  • How can I Order Emily's cd?

  • @sgtLuuk Send me a message, and I will tell you.

  • yep you have a Dutch fan now

  • What can I say except YEEEE-Hawwww! That sure got the ol' feet tappin'!

  • fine music

  • @mrgreer51

do you have it on youtube?

i'd love to hear you guys version

  • @2015mcfly Sorry, we don't have that one on YouTube. Lots of others have it, however.

  • i'd love to see you guys play saint-anne's reel :P

    keep posting good vids

  • hay phil , you ought to be proud of you musicial family, i know you are .she;s a great fidle player. and it is so good to see the young playing the great old country songs. thanks.

  • My kind a music, but the first thing I noticed was a guy made long ago and a girl made not so long ago, and on the floor a jug made long ago and a jug made not so long ago, it just struck my as funny.

  • @daddyg321 Haha! You are not first to point out that milk jug with green liquid. I didn't mean to have that in the video. It is plant food for my wife's plants. We color it green to keep from accidentally dumping it in the dog bowl and fertilizing the dog.

  • Haha, that's funny!

  • You guys are awesome!!

  • I love it!! Good job!

  • GUYS YOU ROCK, I LOVE BLUEGRASS MUSIC, SINCE I WAS LIVING IN JAY C, MO, GRETTINGS FROM PHOENIX, ARIZONA

  • Merci !

  • Nicely done guys!! So, I saw this in the cue to the side and clicked on it, looking closer, and RECOGNIZED both of you, lol. I definitely went to school with your girls. =) Fun times, I loved it when you came in and played / sang "Traveling Soldier" ( You and one of your girls). Hope things are well! =)

  • @ChayLoNichole I remember going to band one morning and assisting Emily as she sang "Traveling Soldier." That is probably what you are referring to. But I don't know who you are.

  • Great and I don't mean to be rude or anything, but try straiting your wrist. I found it makes it ring just that much more. And you still sound awesome! Your great! I'm in orchestra, but Mr. Glick won't even let me play fiddle. Just classical violin! D:

  • LOUISIANA rocks now dont it sha

  • 好聽的美國鄉村音樂!

    二位太棒了!

    謝謝!

  • The music is in my blood, I just need to learn to play. Thinking traditional violin isn't the right approach... - Winnipeg, Canada

  • Greeting from down the road...Washington, Mo. My little girl is 8 and loves to watch the young lady that plays the fiddle. She has been at it for 4 years. She love to watch you guys play the Cajun Fiddle..SU..Perb!

She asked me if it is OK to play bare foot :)

  • @goosetradomus Playing barefoot is a wonderful thing! It fits the mood of the music. We go through Washington several times a year on the way to Illinois. We always get gas at Mr Fuel. Look me up on Facebook if you have an acct. My name on there is my real name: Phil Greer.

  • TROP SYMPA A ECOUTER

    A FRENCH FAN ...

  • is there a difference between fiddle and a violin, do they sell them seperate?

  • @darklight436 It's the same instrument. The difference is all in how it is played and the tunes that are played. I always say that a violin has strings, and a fiddle has strangs.

  • @mrgreer51 I've always heard that the difference is that you can spill beer on your fiddle. ;) Not that I'd want to, mind you :D

  • @mrgreer51 I've also heard that you can spill beer on your fiddle ;)

  • @darklight436 what do you mean strangs?

  • @darklight436 Also; the scotch-gaelic word for violin is"fidheal" pronounced "fiddle"

  • Thanks for posting your songs on youtube. I have listened to them over and over since I found them. They are great. Ya'll must really enjoy playing together.

  • That was great and Miss Emily is hot too :D

Publish yourself, and we will judge..............

  • nice

  • she is cute and he isnt.

  • @erichitz79 Hahaha

  • Thanksss! So beautiful! ;)

  • I've been thinking about trying to learn to play the fiddle, and I was just wondering how hard it is to learn? I can play basic chord strumming on a guitar...so is it much harder? Thanks for any help!

  • @FastHuey65 I think fiddle is harder than guitar, but that's just my opinion.

  • @FastHuey65 I am told that the violin is one of the most difficult instruments to learn. I just wish someone had told me that before I decided to take violin lessons. LOL

Does anyone know where I can get the sheet music for this tune?

  • you guys need some rockin chairs !!! like the grand father clock in the back ground

  • And thank you both for the great music, even the clock pendelum was was swinging in time!!

  • It's not in pubic domain. Get Mel Bay's book Top Fiddle Solos. Took me forever to find it anywhere.

  • @barquester Everybody I know that plays this song just plays it by ear. It is not a difficult song at all.

  • Absolutely beautiful! You two are very, very talented.

  • You can find the notes here . Click on the photo for large print.

  • Beautiful, thanks.

  • BEAUTIFUL.. very well done!

  • Like being at Mulanes in Breaux Bridge! Beautiful.

  • this would be awesome at my country theme wedding!

  • This is really good. I would love to learn it but cannot for the life of me find the notes to it anywhere. I have looked on the internet so much but its never this song. Is there anyway you could tell me where I can aquire the notes to this song for free or if you could e-mail them to me??? I have watched this clip like a million times but have a hard time picking things up without seeing the notes first.

  • @23labaker Sorry we can't help you. Everything we do is by ear. This a very simple song, but it's the smoothness and the double strings that make it so appealing.

  • @23labaker If you do a search there are progs available that will transcribe audio to visible notes.

  • This is really good. I would love to learn it but cannot for the life of me find the notes to it anywhere. I have looked on the internet so much but its never this song. • once again great

going too look at the rest of your videos

know did not know until now that you and your niece made so maney

  • Once again : great! And a nice touch, the salutation with the hat.

  • Great stuff !!!!

  • ur amazing i wish i could play the violin that good

  • Pretty......you have a pancake wrist...move your elbow instead of your arm(:

  • @thepinkygirl123 I am sure you are right. She has never had a lesson. We just memorized the tunes in our heads and tried to play them as smoothly as possible. Notes and rhythms are easy, but the bowing is difficult to figure out, so we just play. We know that her style looks wrong, but we can't figure out how to move the elbow instead of the arm, as you say. Also, we are not sure what a pancake wrist is. One day we may figure it out, but right now we are both too busy to play much anyway.

  • @mrgreer51 Howdy Mr Greer. You and Miss Emily sure look to be having lots of fun and you all sound great.

Pancake wrist only means not flexing the wrist as you would have to do if you kept your elbow tucked in. Just use whatever works.

  • who dat

  • great! im teaching my granddaughter to play fiddle and she loves this!! keep em' comin' thank you both

  • How come he's wearing shoes? just kidding.. great stuff, well played.
