my grandparents used to play this song and many others on car rides when i was really young, my grandfather came from novascotias cape breton, i was born in ontario, i just moved here myself im 22 now, i listen to mostly metal music but this song has a place in my heart for ever
I remember listening to this in the car when i was about 3 or 4, this cassette would never leave the car and when we went on road trips my lovely patient mother replayed the cassette over and over and over again just cause i loved it so much, and i still do <3
Love the song.! :D thank you for the upload.! I see your name is NovaScotian? what part? if ya dont mind me asking..! I am one to.. Just wondering! again.. thanks for the upload!
This was my first ever CD and I absolutely loved this song. Took me so many years to find this song after I lost the CD cause I couldn't remember who sang it. So happy to have found it after about 13 years.
Thanks for posting this brings, back fond memories of my parents when i was 3 i remember this song playing and them dancing and laughing and their faces lighting up. I recently heard it in a pub with my parents and friends of the family the whole pub sang this song thanks for posting!
ähm ok question because i dont know this band is that some kind of an irish "Kelly family" ? dont get me wrong i love the song and the version is pretty good but i never heared of the rankin family
I fell in love with this song when I first heard it, at least 15 or so years ago, on Prairie Home Companion. Question to anyone more familiar with this group & genre: it seems to me that back then they performed this one more simply, a capella, with just the women's voices, and, instead of "belle," it was "queen" of Belfast city. Can anyone confirm this?
Man, I grew up listening to this gold. I've been living in Toronto for the past 13 years since I left Halifax, but whenever my parents have people over for dinner, they put this on as they cook! I'll be doing the same when I get my own place and have people over. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this.
@zeppelin8 I've been listenin to this Bie since I can remember and we've lived out in Edmonton for the last 14 years, and still when i listen i slip back into n accent!
