In sports, it is not always the best team that wins it, but the team that peaks at the right time. Throughout this past year and change, I have a list of the teams that won because they peaked at the right time and the best teams in parentheses.

2006 Superbowl-Steelers(Colts)

2006 NCAA Basketball Title Game-Florida(UCONN)

2006 World Series-Cardinals(Yankees)

2007 NCAA Football Title Game-Florida(Ohio State)

2007 Superbowl-Colts or Bears(San Diego)

UConn was not the best team. They barely made it through their first game. UConn struggled through each and every game during the tournament and for them to supposedly be #1? That's terrible. Florida rolled on...beating most opponents in double digit figures except for one. Now that's what a Championship team does. You talk about peaking at the right moment? Duh! Isn't that what any good team does? Guess UConn wasn't as good as you thought.

Sorry! Didn't think you would take this so personally! You are right. UCONN did not do well in the tournament. However, going into the tournament, a lot more people predicted them to win it all then Florida. I know that means nothing, though. Florida won it all, and that is all that matters!

Also, you are right that championship teams often peak at the right time! However, peaking at the right time does not happen to all great teams.

Them's fighting words (but i do agree,)I do disagree with the Ohio State one. Florida didn't beat them in a close game, they shut them down. Unless we had a USC and Boise State included playoff, the 06 national champion will always be in question.
