THERE, now none of you having ANY reason to watch this horrible series, even out of curiosity. Sorry JO, but I had to spoil it. You were right, the ending and series was terrible. Not even the boobs could save it.
Oh FYI everyone, the ending basically summarizes to this: Main girl's parents made the tournament in order to brainwash the losers to be sold as sex slaves overseas, and her BFF, priestess, and her crush all actually hate her and have relatives who were victims of the tournament, and restarted it to lure her in so they could torture and kill her for her parent's sins. But THEN, her mom (dad's was killed by them ages ago) sets off a bomb, and then kills them! But oh, lets finish this next comment

You know, I partially wish the ending was spoken and everything wrong with this anime was said out loud in questions like Linkara did at the end of the Ultimates 3 review. But that's not your thing.
Why would you end an OVA like this? I mean the show was bad enough as it was and the sudden dramatic turn did it no favors and also the twist was about as subtle as a Japanese Ocean Cyclone Suplex and just as painful.
Type in School days alternate ending, its from the video game, and most of these alternate endings are violent and are an OMG moment and out of them there is only one happy end. Bloody but if you hated the characters you will enjoy it :3

Man I was hoping for you to mention School Days. I'm glad you you even brought it up. Feels great that our opinions are the same. Man as sick as it sounds I was smiling ear to ear when I saw the ending, cheering the characters on. A strange thing is though is that when I was watching the series, the blood was black not red. Guess it was too gruesome or something to have.
7:15-7: 27 Even in conceding defeat, little did JO know how much MoMH's ending "broke her." Only wks later would this fleeting hit to her soul manifest itself physically, as the profound shock from witnessing this travesty weakened her immune system (we think). I actually liked Sekai & Katsura, granted I honestly did not give a f*ck about them 'til it got closer to the ending. (I also regret having watched that series, even if the ending was incredibly satisfying to me. 'twas the moment I wanted to see the show to begin with!) Makoto is a horrible example of a human being though.

It's always irked me that there are fans that go around saying that anime aren't cartoons. To me, it's always sounded like someone in denial of what they're watching, reshaping the facts to make their side of any supposed argument of the worth of what they're watching seem more favorable. I know the definition is often viewed as "intended for children" or "slapstick humor shorts," but that's cultural and by no means the actual definition of the word.
@Bradax24 Even so I do hate calling Anime cartoons and I also hate calling shows like Batman: The Animated Series a cartoon. I think that there is calling it a cartoon and then there is calling it animation. When I think of cartoons, I think of shows like the Looney Tunes or Mickey Mouse, and if I had to name animes I would call Astro Boy or Battle of the Planets a cartoon. I think it's the fact that we associate Cartoons with childhood which is why we don't like the term.

I just watched through this last night and a second time this morning. I guess what I'm trying to get across here is - you should survive the first time watching it through, but watching again might as well be considered suicide.
I didn't hate the ending, matter of fact it gave this OVA something to stand on whether it'd be appreciated or despised... But be warned. *joins the queue line to jump off the bridge*

You know, instead of spoiling it, let me point out flaws in our villain's little twist that shows just how much they depended on luck.
1) What would have happened if Aya was a boy?
2) What if she didn't know how to fight?
3) What if she was an outcast who didn't want friends to begin with?
4) Why not just literally stab her in the back, especially when you had like 100 chances?
5) Money I get, but what was the point of a lookalike for Haruhi?

She apoligizes to her daughter for everything and stays behind to burn in the rubble for her sins, thus leaving the protaginist alone with no one left, and she goes and kill's her BFF's mom (who was a previous martial hearts contestant, and also hates her). THERE, now none of you having ANY reason to watch this horrible series, even out of curiosity. Sorry JO, but I had to spoil it. You were right, the ending and series was terrible. Not even the boobs could save it.

Oh FYI everyone, the ending basically summarizes to this: Main girl's parents made the tournament in order to brainwash the losers to be sold as sex slaves overseas, and her BFF, priestess, and her crush all actually hate her and have relatives who were victims of the tournament, and restarted it to lure her in so they could torture and kill her for her parent's sins. But THEN, her mom (dad's was killed by them ages ago) sets off a bomb, and then kills them! But oh, lets finish this next comment

Man as sick as it sounds I was smiling ear to ear when I saw the ending, cheering the characters on. A strange thing is though is that when I was watching the series, the blood was black not red. Guess it was too gruesome or something to have.

Only wks later would this fleeting hit to her soul manifest itself physically, as the profound shock from witnessing this travesty weakened her immune system (we think). I am not an Anime-Only person but I always try to recommend great Anime movies and shows to different people because they are out there. But THIS shit does not help my cause and from what you said of how this HELPS Anime companies makes money depresses me.
I hate to say this I am convinced that an Animated material can potentially be Uglier than most Live-Action material put together.

I actually liked Sekai & Katsura, granted I honestly did not give a f*ck about them 'til it got closer to the ending. (I also regret having watched that series, even if the ending was incredibly satisfying to me. 'twas the moment I wanted to see the show to begin with!) Makoto is a horrible example of a human being though.

It's always irked me that there are fans that go around saying that anime aren't cartoons. To me, it's always sounded like someone in denial of what they're watching, reshaping the facts to make their side of any supposed argument of the worth of what they're watching seem more favorable. I know the definition is often viewed as "intended for children" or "slapstick humor shorts," but that's cultural and by no means the actual definition of the word.

I think that there is calling it a cartoon and then there is calling it animation. When I think of cartoons, I think of shows like the Looney Tunes or Mickey Mouse, and if I had to name animes I would call Astro Boy or Battle of the Planets a cartoon. I think it's the fact that we associate Cartoons with childhood which is why we don't like the term.
