A lot of the songs are in Icelandic but Jonsi also uses his voice like an instrument. Making up words that just fit in that has come to be dubbed Hopelandic. I translated some lyrics from Hoppipola but as amazing as the lyrics are I kind of prefer not knowing what they say exactly. :)
how's that 'about anything'?! Even in Serbia or elsewhere musicians are singing about something:love,faith,nature,country...Only Dead Can Dance and Cocteau Twins aren't singing about anything particularly :)
Can you explain me meaning of 'If you read up on Sigur Ros you will see'?
@stojkovicigor A Good portion of Sigur Ros's music has lyrics that aren't real words just used to go along better with the music sort of like using his voice as an instrument
i watched the documentary on sigur ros and another documentary on radiohead the other day. love both bands. sometimes little known bands are cool too. try out this very original acoustic instrumental trio. search Youtube for "Radium Karmara"
the lady talking near the end mentions that they sing in a language they make up, but i always thought it was icelandic? does anyone know if its gibberish or icelandic. though i do love them either way :)
Some of their songs are in their own created language which is called "hopelandic" by some people. Some other songs are sung in icelandic. This song is from their album "Untitled" which is only sung in hopelandic. To my mind their best album so far.
All the songs from () are in Vonlenska(Hopelandic), as described on their website it is "a form of gibberish vocals that fits to the music". They also use in some other songs.
Sittin' in on that session must've been amaizing - jealous beyond belief huh.
I have to check in with this clip from time to time to really appreciate where I live - Esja is one of many things that bought me to Ísland, Sigur Ros is just one of the many that keeps me here.....
Snild.
Bara snild.

Just couple of months ago purchased all their albums. No one has ever made such beautiful, touching and moving music. Their music makes me want to cry. Genesis made some touching music too. Check 'em out. Especially ''Supper's Ready''.
they all click so well together those four guys.. They all wanted to do the same thing with music when they first formed the band. And thank god they did.. And this song is in my Top 5 adleest
sigur ros es lo mejor del planeta despiertan todos los sentimientos que uedan existir en mi ser con cada cancion mi sueño es ir a islandia y conocerlos algun dia son magnificos jonsi y orry son mis idolosss.
It's Njosnavelin (commonly referred to as the "Nothing Song") off (). It's probably their most well-known song because of its use during the climax of a shitty American remake (Vanilla Sky) of a truly stunning Spanish film (Abre los ojos.)
This band came across my life like a lucky miracle. I woke up in the middle of the night With my tv on showcase. And Glosili was on, and from that random wake up I was in love and found by their music.
I remember watching this when it was originally broadcast. I love them.
