  • great music and times

  • if you say morse better than blackmore, surely you are not only deaf but also has bad taste..............

  • Great Ballad!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing R. Blackmore solo!!!

  • fuck music, that never go back, sory for thi generation...

  • Probably the best rock ballad I've heard. EVER.

  • Best of the last production.

  • I would like to see Deep Purple inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before I die!!

  • @jeffreygaudreault I'm with you man.

  • @jeffreygaudreault I hope you are young. Can you believe Purple is not in the hall. Well...

  • My single favorite Ritchie Blackmore solo.

  • one too many wasted sunsets.one too many for the road.

  • love the first solo- so soulful, so bluesy and heartfelt. remember listening to it while deployed overseas for Operation Desert Storm. it really makes you think about things.

  • in the solo Rithcie has show us what he will be playing 23 years later)))

  • @z603dauren Agreed! The tone is very similar indeed.

  • Love Deep Purple-great upload

  • not only one great Blackmore Solo but TWO. This song is great, but Blackmore is the best there ever was or ever will be. Hey Nonny Nonny!

  • perfection....purple with blackmore were so good..

  • I met Ritchie Blakemore and his girlfriend on Honolulu beach back in 1985. He’s really nice guy. Quiet guy. I was on vacation with parents. I was 19 yeas old.

  • blackmore is deep purple steve morse is a session musician he even said in an interview he didnt want the job the same as when joe satriani tried to take bloackmores place he knew it was wrong the only reason steve has stayed so long is for the money and thats it also jon lord played an importatnt role in purple and without him and blackmore deep purple is like a dog with 3 legs limping along and im a guitar player as well and blackmore is up there with page and hendrix in my opinion

  • @guitarbassplayer68 Says a guitar player...Did you know that the only original member of Deep purple is Ian Paice and if you forgot bands are about team effort. More so, I think Ian's work is WAY more influential to their sond than blackmore's. It looks like you're looking at one piece of the puzzle and leaving the most important part out.

I also played guitar for many years.

  • :O :s :(

  • O Lord

  • DonvanderDeijl if you cannot comprehend the evolution of the band and band's music, do not pay for it, but please us simple words " in my opinion ........"

Maybe Gillan today sound differently than back 1970, but he still sounds good, Morse not only better that Richie as a player he is by far more creative. Departure and recent news about Jon Lord helath is quite sad, but Don Arrie feel his shoes just fine. BTW He wrote M.r Crowley for Ozzie, so think twice before criticizing the MUSICIOANS

  • DP P strangers album was good, but not that good. Blackmore was good but he said it was nostalgy and he was right. Later on Gillan,s voice was in that bad shape(still is) that we can no longer talk about Deep Purple. It,s history after this album. Blackmore was doin fine in Rainbow again and still is in Blackmnore,s Night. Deep Purple with morse without Jon Lord and Gillans voice is a terrible waste off money and time.

  • I interpet this song to mean that DP, despite their world-wide popularity, wil never again relive the glory of their heyday, the mark II 69-73 period. The fact is, they've never been as good before or since. The 9 year hiatus hurt them. Don't get me wrong. Their worst night is better than most band's best. The recent departure of Jon Lord was the final straw. That's what Gillan and Glover were trying to say, even back in '84.

  • what a great song, great solo, Great feeling

  • AGUNTE DEEP PURPLE LA MEJOR BANDA DEL MUNDO

  • No mather what you say, I think that listening to pop and rap sometimes can be useful. After 5 min with junk music I can appreciate Good music even more ;)

  • I feel blessed to have been a young person in the "60's and '70's! We had the best music and most inovative musicians in the last 30 years!

  • Them was the days!

  • .....just love this song!

  • SUPER

  • Gillan is magnificent

  • Ritchie Blackmore is the best,he proves that all the time.

  • blackmore+gillan = epic rock sounds

  • @barnysan Correction: blackmore + gillan + lord + glover +paice = epic rock sounds. :) It was the collaboration of those five men together that really made Deep Purple what it was. :)

  • Very good guitarist, melodic, great bending techniques, vibrato and legato not just speed.

  • Very good song. I remeber how happy I felt when they formed the band again

  • great song

  • Blackmore produces sounds from his guitar which seem to eminate from magical far off lands. He is a unique and quite extraordinary musician.

  • @beinndorainjames he and Gilmour have this feeling in their playing which seems impossible for the others to reach. Great music

  • Ritchie forever.

  • Questa è una delle più belle canzoni del panorama rock.

E' carica di pathos e kratos.

  • @LupoSiderale Anche di ethos,portos e aramis !

  • Sweet child in time please bring our generation better music!

  • @weLiKeoaTs Amen!!!!!!!!!

  • @weLiKeoaTs Right, dude !

  • for an eighties album of an 70s band it sounds almost just exactly as it did in 1972.

    Thats quite impressive.

  • The come-backalbum which didn't sound so damn eighties. Really good drumsound, best DP post 70's album.

  • I never got to see them the first time around but was lucky to see the comeback tour with this album it was awesome. Always wished blackmore and Page would do something together.

  • I love your username free2ouch. Thanks for posting.

  • My second favourite DP song after Child In Time : ) What a great track with a great guitar solo. This deserves way over a million views!

  • @churritin01 I concur!!

  • AMAZING SONG, ONE OF THE BEST FROM "THE PERFECT STARNGERS "

  • wow, i love this song, Great DEEP PURPLE!!! Thanks for sharing, congrats!!!

  • i remember being a child and this band playing in the living room stereo with the smell of weed and incense mixed together not knowing my father was getting high.. enjoying the little beauty within his reach. I understood growing up, now its just a memory

  • @javiernlaksmi yeah I remembered it as well from my childhood. Whats interesting everyone got it from our fathers :)

  • @javiernlaksmi You´re a lucky person. The best of upbringing : )

  • I love it but the reason why it's called "Wasted Sunsets" was that Gillan must have been wasted when he was writing the lyrics :O

  • magic

  • 500 ! Only 5 jerks.

  • Maja....

  • deep purple forever

  • Love this song!

@free2ouch , I didn't see Joe Lynn Turner anywhere in the clip :S Isn't this track performed by him?

  • @RACEMASTERyEAH Singer is Gillan!

  • 5 retrasados mentales :/

  • Welcome to Athens. 5/20/11 I'll be there. Thank you 4 that superb music... Lot's of memories

  • its good to be human!

  • @buckobas1

Well it's not human is it?

    It's fucking good music!!

  • super album!!!

  • Forever more.......i like it, great song!

  • EPic power ballad

  • I wonder what does Ritchie do to bring guitar to life

  • @jzuypxa I tell you . Honesty ! Is this simple . Everyone knows that Deep Purple was a money machine and Ritchie being part of it felt that fans needed a reward for their commitment , hence the what you asking .

Wish you all the best my friend .

  • They need to start playing more Deep Purple on all the rock radio stations, like yesterday. So totally real!! O.M.G.

  • @jeffreygaudreault

    Why would they play yesterday?

    That was by The Beatles.

  • what a wonderfull guitar w orks.no doubt .to perfect

  • perfect solo over a good keyboard=fender strat+hammond

  • I had forgotten this song. That means I haven't heard it in decades. I should be ashamed but instead I am elated that I found it.. It is still a haunting, melodic rock classic and I won't forget it again.

And yes, Mr. and Ms. Stupid only know of Smoke. DP has so many more dimensions than that. Long live rock-n-roll!

  • Un grande artista della chitarra elettrica sig ritchie blackmore artista ma poeta con le sue mani

  • Само Ричи Блекмор и Дийп Пърпъл....

    Номер едно са завинаги!!!!!

  • magnificent!!!

  • John Lord is not dead.

  • RIP: John Lord

  • Please Mr. Blackmore come back to the path of the heavyly metal riffs. We miss you !!

  • I'm so glad I know this song. One of my all-time faves.

  • If this song was by ... for example, Queen or Dire Straits or who else... it would be a hugely famous, legendary ballad. While its romance and its guitar solo are a pearl for few, I am happy to be one of those lucky ones.

  • Very dark, very deep song. I discovered Deep Purple way too late. All that 80's metal flooded the radio and I missed out on the real deal for way too long.

  • Probably the best DP song ever done, everything is just perfect..

  • ‎2 BLACKMORE'S SOLO......SUBLIME....THE HARMONY, THE SOUND, THE INTENTION....THE CHOICE OF NOTE.... 3 BENDING AT 3:23 ARE AWSOME AND THEY ARE BETTER THAN ANY FAST SCALE OR SWEEP....THE APEX, THE APOTHEOSIS OF THE ORGASM.... RITCHIE BLACKMORE IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST! SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH....

  • thank god !!! there is only 5 !!!

  • Заебись!!!! Ностальгия, бля!!!! где мои 16 лет???? Сука. А действительно. Ебена мать, сейчас у же такого не делают!!! к сожалению

  • One to many Wasted Blackmores, one to many for Jon Lord....

I wish Blackmore and Lord would come back...

  • sounds as good today as it ever did.as many of u have said.the solos just so heavy.1 of the best ever

  • Ritchie Blackmore the father of all guitarists ....

  • @plijevo Hm, I wouldn't agree with you... I'd take Mr Uli Jon Roth as a father of the neoclassical genre, for which Blackmore gets all the credits... I mean, it's not like I don't listen to Richie so I don't know what I'm talking about, but guys like Yngwie Malmsteen would be nuts without U.J.R. and Richie's combined influences (100% of Yngwie's stage appearance is copied from Richie, and around 90% of his playing style and techniques is taken by U.J.R.) so please, don't say things like this..:)

  • Сцука порвало! Какая ностальгия! Как играет!

  • Quando Ian era ancora Ian...

  • That vibrato and beautiful touch is unmatched...by anyone.

  • in my humble opinion the best record Purple has ever made , 10 out of 10.

brings back some very good memories , thanx for posting this , much obliged.

  • In the picture at :52, is that Ian Hill sitting next to Blackmore, and who is the guy sitting above and between Roger and Ian. Coverdale?

  • @ufofan1980 No...from left to right, it's Blackmore, Lord, Glover, Gillan (above), and Paice. :)

  • Take me to the dream, i want to lost in time for ever,

where the music rules my heart, where feelings

is so strong and i'm human.

Nothing can still this magic moment

for me and you. This is the metal of our heart.

  • I always loved this song! ;-)

  • always on one of my top rock songs..Ritchie and Ian rock.. Jon Lord as well..

  • One of the best guitar solos ever...and definitely one of the best Deep Purple songs ever.

  • There is only a Deep Purple with Ritchie in the band...I met Ian Paice a few years back...Super nice down to earth guy...As for Ritchie ever going back..i think we stand a better chance i flinging a dime in the air and watching it get hit by lightning.I remember hearing this solo the first time and the hair on the back of my neck standing up.thank god i saw this show in 91..Fucking ego's suck!!!...wipe the slate clean and get back together for fucks sake!!!!fuckers!!!

  • One of the most unnoticed DP:s masterpieces..

  • @Niitroshark Hell yeah! Wicked chune!

  • that what i call slow rock...

    old is gold...

  • Now this is a something i'll just keep stum...

  • great feeling great solo

  • nice song!

  • Was on this tour a I saw them for the first time. I was a kid. Great times. I've forgotten how good this song was. Thanks for posting.

  • @vivelavidarocka

Which tour? Its a studio track.

They played it live around 2 years ago.

Did you grow up that fast?

  • @purpelaar Dude, even the info says it: this song is from P. S ('84). and I know it's a studio track (not from 2 yrs ago thou, since even the post is from 3 yrs back) . And you are right, 27 years went fast.

  • Friend thanks about your invite. The most of your songs are great. Before some years I listened to only heavy metal. No I listen to a lot of kinds of music. I love rock, poems being music, and folk dances. I love folk dances from your country. I don't know if you like them, but they are amazing. Also I love Duran-Duran, Pink Floyd, Metallica and Iced Earth, but not all their songs.

  • There is no 'they' Deep Purple, don't you get it, it's only one, you still don't get it??

I swear to God that's the truth, no matter what you think, sure democracy with one democratic leader, policies, ships...

You guys are like extrodinarily great, but u suck without Ritchie, your sound was so bad and some allure - compliement, he really brings out the best in you, please bring out the best in him, I don't really even notice Ritchie when you're with him u know - swear!

  • OMG! Just hit me that Ritchie should have just put out this banner and played your songs from the album - it's basically the same thing wasn't it we dont see u there only the banner that says u are supposed to be, and i'm not paying 99 cents for this song - maybe u have, don't know can't see it open the stage and the door.

  • great stuff!

  • Take me back to this age! Rock ruled!! No video, no internet, just the music!! Long live Rock!!!!

  • Take me back too!<3

  • @Asterope7 I thought this was off the Perfect Strangers album. They made 2 videos off this album.

  • @Asterope7 I'm quite sure they had video in 1984.

  • @Asterope7

Long live Rock whit you to my brother \m/ \m/

  • @Asterope7

You re sentimental, how wonderful : ) but WRONG.

THIS was already the age of video clips.

DP hated to shoot some and sometimes , because of that reason, they turned out bloody awful....like Call Of The Wild : (

This song is monumental., like Son Of Alerik and many others but the stupids of this worlds only think of Smoke On The Water!!!!!

  • @Asterope7 Ehhmmm, yeap. There WAS video!! We were not that old!!

  • @Asterope7 It was truly magical! No magic left if the world. :(

  • @Asterope7

Actually, we had video for some years at the time.

  • one to many wasted words ... anyway this is as Good as they Get

  • I`ve grow up with this album. Just great music...

  • pernah jamm lagu ni di B sound studio KOMTAR JB...enal , din and zul.

  • Just came back from Deep Purple's concert in Toulouse, awesome gig, was so happy they played Wasted Sunsets !

  • Great song, but what made it one of the greatest of Purple is the out-of-the-world Ritchie's solo in the middle section - hoping someone will show . . . the rest is legendary.

  • I had actually never heard this song before they played it in their Oslo-concert yesterday. Brilliant song, I must say!

  • Agree - it was great to see them play this at the NEC on 13th November 2009. But SilverTongue isn't quite right about Perfect Strangers. It wasn't on the set at the 2007 concert at Wembley - squeezed out because the set had to be shortened to accommodate both Thin Lizzy and Styx.

  • They (Deep Purple) played this song Live for the first time ever last night at the Machester Apollo. This is true, check thehighwaystar or Deep Purple hub. Ian did it on his Gillan's Inn tour, and I guess he convinced the rest of the band to do it. Also, it's the first time ever since the reunion, that they haven't played 'Perfect Strangers' at all.

  • Rubbish mate. They've played Perfect Strangers on every tour since the reunion and I've seen Purple perform this song before live too.

  • Yes, they have played 'Perfect Strangers' on every tour since 1984, except for the UK leg in 2007 on some dates, and now recently, it wasn't played, but 'The Battle Rages On' was played instead after Don's solo. I wasn't talking about the track 'PS', but this song, 'Wasted Sunsets'. They (Deep Purple) played it for the first time about a month or so ago. Ian Gillan played it on his 2006 'Gillans Inn' tour, but Purple has never played it prior to that.

  • In 1984/85 the only played these songs from 'Perfect Strangers' Live:

    Perfect Strangers

    Knocking At Your Back Door

    Gipsy's Kiss

    Under The Gun

    Nobody's Home

And on later tours, only 'Perfect Strangers' and 'Knocking At Your Backdoor'.

  • And so it is, beautiful!!!!

  • great song and so melodious !!!!!

  • Damn...Ritchie's solo makes me cry.Best solo ever...

  • Agreed this is a great song. In fact its my favourite off the perfect strangers lp. We all know that Ritchie is a great guitarist but I think he's even better on the slower stuff than he is when he's playing a million miles an hour.

  • I agree. The solo reminds me a bit of Ritchie's solo on Stone Cold. Very melodic with alot of staccato phrasing. Def at his best on the slow stuff!

  • hey Ritchie where are you now?you have beatiful skill

  • His wife is a bit of all right as well ;)

  • 80's deep purple was ahead of it's time.

  • 60's Deep Purple was ahead of its time. I am so grateful to Jon Lord for bringing it all together.

  • I`ll let others argue who the best band of all time is. DP is my all time fav.......

  • there s nothing to say but _great old Deep Purple

  • Because this song breaks our heart, every time you listen to it...

Even when you have a great relationship, like I have, I can still relate to this song and the lyrics, we all have gone through rough times, did'n't we?

  • i don't know if any one realizes ..what pain..

Why would you make song like that?

  • If I remember correctly, this song is right before "A Gypsy's Kiss" on the album. Listening to the two in sequence is all about loss and...then...redemption!

  • @ try4life1: Sorry--I was wrong. It's "Hungry Daze" that plays next on the album. I stand by what I said that it's redemptive.

  • wow!

  • Shit...that is sooo fukn good...1.53-2.02!!

This must be one of the greatest records

    ever made..!!

  • This its one of the most great est albums of all times

  • Ritchie did GREAT WORK here ! So Beautufiul Played

  • blackmore's guitar is haunting

  • Anybody please upload Son of Alerik, Blackmore's instrumental

  • great melody, beatiful music, Deep Purple, brilliant.

    Thanks for the video!!!.Mario

  • very moving and silencing... love Deep Purple :-))))

  • u just cant fault Blackmore..temperamental maybe, but just feel that guy flowing thru that guitar..thanks guys :)
