As a Ron Paul supporter, I tip my hat to this gesture. Fraud is a criminal act. Although I don't think the FBI should be doing this, its better than letting it slide at this point. Enforcement of the existing laws is just as important as restricting new unconstitutional laws.
most people who have been paying attention already know where to start. of course a democrat wants to spend more when all the resources to prevent the fraud have always been there. why not arrest someone already. plenty of people in congress, existing regulators and bankers who have already been investigated but got bribed when 'authorities' got close. Search "Brooksley Born" who was hushed and shutdown.
We do not need new FBI people, we need them to extract the corruption within the government, make it illegal for Corporations to go anywhere near politicians and vice versa, this includes their contributions. Must end the FED as they are owned by the Banks and they control the money which already controls our government, they are almost one and the same. So if the FBI investigates too deeply, somewhere within the chain they will be stopped, as usual. It is called total corruption from within.
We don't need MORE gov't employees! especially not FBI that won't arrest wall street but the common people! Smaller gov't, SEC is there to take care of the banksters so... if you want MORE FBI then fire the same number of SEC because they're not doing their job!
@ziger123456 The SEC is not doing its job because the Republicans have been defunding them for years, firing huge numbers of their investigators, and eliminating the regulations that made it possible for the SEC to prosecute misbehavior. What we need is to rebuild the SEC and give them the legal weapons they need to bring the banks back under control. A totally free capital is a bull in the china shop. The GOP caused the Great Depression w/ deregulation & now they caused the Great Recession.
The federal government will investigate itself? Good luck with that. That's almost as "productive" as calling for a commission to "study" and whitewash the financial collapse instead of prosecute demonstrably fraudulent market actors. Start abolishing these departments and agencies!
I like how you all applaud this. More government goons juts what we need. Think they're gonna be just disappearing when they "finish"? No they'll come for you.
@misesownskeynes Part 3:The GOP does not serve the American people nor the USA. They serve the rich who pay them handsomely for their dedication. You can see this easily enough in that the GOP defend the Bush tax cuts for the rich while fighting to raise taxes on the middle class. They ignore that the Bush tax cut increase the deficit by trillions, yet fight on for them while claiming that they want to pay off the deficit--something the GOP has never done. Republican hypocricy is AWESOME
@Jack194343 I've seen some brainwashed sheep on here before, but you take the cake by far. I suggest you take a peek at who Opuppet surrounded himself with in his cabinet. I'll give you a hint, government sachs. There is no right or left, that exists for idiots like you to pick a side. Your fake political party isn't a sports team fool, wake up before its too late.
@Deztructor13xYou're right to some extent. In an effort to reach across the aisle, Obama took into his cabinet a bunch of conservatives, even some GOP straight out of George W's cabinet. He should know these people would give him nothing but rotten council. This is one reason he's having so much trouble with his base, but when you look at all the drooling Neanderthals running for president on the GOP side, it becomes impossible to vote against Obama.Who are you going to vote for?.
@misesownskeynes Part 2: But Wall Street prefers the GOP b/c they are easier to buy. After the 2008 bank debacle, the DEMs wanted to reinstate the regs that the GOP eliminated under Bush, regs that have stood in place since the Great Depression & protected us from Bankers gabling w/the public's money, but the GOP blocked that as they blocked raising the minimum wage, oppose unions, fight to protect billionaire's tax cuts, eliminate corp regs, protect corp subsidies, work to kill the EPA, etc.
@misesownskeynes Part One: Wall Street invest on both sides of the fence to make sure that whoever wins the election, they will have bet on the winner. And you should understand that if one side looks like it's going to win, Wall Street will put most of their cash on that horse. Any fool could tell Obama was going to win in 2008 so you should not be surprised that Obama got most of the gelt. In this election the GOP is putting up nothing but generates & crooks, so again the money goes to Obama.
@misesownskeynes The Republicans also want to rip down the Sarbanes-Oxlley Act. This was a set of accounting controles put into place after Enron. Which was the largest Bankrupt filing ever, at the time. It also made it illegal for a CEO to cook the books and then say" I didnt know this was happening". you know like John C is doing with MF Global right now. It is now the "old west" again, a lawless free-for-all...a bloody race to the bottom..sad, it only 10 to plunder the wealth of the world.
I'm glad my mother died just prior to 9/11...so she could be spared the outrage and heartache of having to watch the country she worked so hard for be systematically looted and flushed down the crapper.
@JesusDillinger I don't think that the extra FBI agents are against wall street. Odd timing on how this is coming up with the NDAA bill going to Obummer to be signed wouldn't you say?
@MaggiesBoxers Conservatives throw their hands up in the air and cry that the problems are too big to solve. Well, of course, problems are too big to solve when you don't try to solve them. The DEMs are working hard to address the problems while the GOP does everything in their power to interfere. Even worse the GOP is working to make things worse, thinking that the worse things are the more Obama will be blamed and will lose the election. The GOP don't give a damn about the suffering of the ppl
60 minutes did a story on Congrees and insider trading....their pet name for it is soft coruption......this country has turned into a giant criminal mob...except the criminals all have badges, titles and notes from their mommys saying they have get out of jail free cards....this will be the largest transfer of wealth the world has ever seen. The middle class was buit starting with the steam engine in 1830. And it only took ten years to plunder all of it. The USA is mortally wounded.
@joecoool100 You're half right. But the U.S.A.'s wounds are not mortal.
We can end the declared state of emergency that has given free reign to D.C. since the 30s, pay the huge debt we've racked up with fiat currency, and go back to metal-based money.
I know we've been told we can never pay our debt because it's too huge, but that is false. We have all the gold necessary, plus domestic oil reserves are more than enough to pay in oil
@joecoool100 You make a good point. With all the deregulation that has been going on for the last ten years or so, most of the corruption that is destroying our country is legal. And the Republicans want more deregulation. They especially want to eliminate the public's ability to sue corporations. They call it a "frivolous lawsuit" when the public sues a corporation, but they haven't limited the ability of corporations to sue whoever they want, and many of those lawsuits are "frivolous."
@Jack194343 The Republicans also want to rip down the Sarbanes-Oxlley Act.
Oh..you mean the FBI..fake "dept" in the U.S. CORPORATION-DC...that is tied to everything from cover-ups and participation's in 911, to the recent ATF selling weapons to S. American drug cartels...with the DEA laundering money as well?
The U.S. CORPORATION-D.C. that is the majority share holder of the crony-global-FORTUNE500...with over 180,000 fake "gov/fund/dept" CAFR reporting, DUN&BRAD STREET rating CORPORATIONS...
Wall Street and the Federal Reserve NEED to be investigated and cracked down on for fraud! However, I don't think 1000 new FBI agents is necessary. We already have so many government employees doing nothing in the security/policing sector that we can allocate those already existing resources to crack down on these criminals!
I would like 1,000,000 FBI agents to investigate the FRAUD of the Federal Reserve and the Insider Trading by the Congress.
Nah...
Really, I'd like to a world based on voluntary interaction where fraud, as this lady speaks of, would actually be frowned upon and made public....but, this cannot occur when the largest fraudulent activities are perpetrated by the damn Government!!!
These Wall Street firms are merely taking notes and practicing exactly what they see on a day to day basis from DC.
Considering that Goldman Sachs sponsored Obama's first re-election fundraiser and that the attendees were bailout receiving wall-street guys; perhaps she needs to let this dream die. If this came into existence and was allowed to exert real power; Sachs, Morgan, etc would merely use these agents to get rid of their competition. They would still do whatever they want to whomever they want. They will do this until the power of Federal government over the market is ended.
Naysayers - please go read about how the people of Iceland turned their economy around by prosecuting and convicting their corrupt banksters.
