I'm sorry but I have to say the early Corvair was a death trap. The front tires were required to be 14 psi compared to the normal ~30psi; a stop at the local Texico and a helpful attendant could kill you by airing up your tires.
GM avoided culpability by saying drivers were exceeding the posted recommended speeds in curves. Curves you could take at 40mph in your 57 Chevy would spin you out of control if you exceeded the posted 20mph recommended speed in your 1960 Corvair.
