this really isn't a bad album, but it's plagued by the fact that it's carrying a "Guns N' Roses" banner on it. perhaps warmer reception would have met this album had Axl made it his solo album or something, because now he's really the only member of this new band in the spotlight. it's a good effort on his part, but it pales in comparison to everything pre-Spaghetti Incident.

The bands re evolving like everything else in this planet .Band members come n go, die or dissaperead , Axl is the reason why GNR is the band of what it is now not Slash or duff. If it would be up to them GNR probably would be another hair band of the80s dead and forgotten (Wasp,Poison,Motley crue etc)
if this is not a "true GNR record", whatever that means, then all of the Metallica albums made after Dave Mustaine & Jason Newstead left and Cliff Burton died, are not "real Metallica" albums. All the AC/DC albums after Bon Scott died are not real AC/DC albums. All the Van Halen, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, etc. aren't real. They all had members leave or die to be replaced by someone else.
The difference is that this isn't a true GNR record, because Slash, Izzy, Duff, and Steve all contributed an element that made GNR unique. It's just like Black Sabbath. They can't do it without Ozzy, even though they've tried a few times. Also, Axl isn't Ozzy, in the sense that he can't make a good solo album, if this is meant to be such.

Chinese Democracy is not a true Guns N' Roses album. Ego aside, Rose does not make GNR. Think about the album title. Chinese democracy doesn't exist. It's at best a facade, a manufactured cover-up of a more dictatorial reality. More realistically, it's an ideal, a hope, a dream.

in EACH case, he had a feud with the frontman/singer and went to the media attacking the frontman.
scott weiland, the former singer for Velvet Revolver called slash a "frontman hater".
there's a pattern here for slash's behaviour.

this really isn't a bad album, but it's plagued by the fact that it's carrying a "Guns N' Roses" banner on it. perhaps warmer reception would have met this album had Axl made it his solo album or something, because now he's really the only member of this new band in the spotlight. it's a good effort on his part, but it pales in comparison to everything pre-Spaghetti Incident.

I agree. This is a great album and i love this song, Chinese democracy, better, there was a time, and madagascar. People need to let go of old guns n roses this is axl with a modernized sound. It is totally awsome and people need to stop comparing this to old GNR and slash and buckethead, both bands are great and the album is great. Axls just trying something new, and its great! Alot of people hate this album, just because axl is the only one left in the band. GNR new member is very good, just every one miss the old gnr member. Every one should stop hating this is a great album. Axl don't want to make all the albums sound all the same like the first album, it' good but couple time that shit get old very fast just like ACDC.

Buckethead and Bumblefoot a hundred times better than Slash. This isn't the strictly blues influenced GnR it's a new sound I respect it entirely.

Maybe Slash isn't better, but he was the soul of GNR's guitar work. Here, it sounds so processed. I mean, this is probably the first time I've ever said this, especially regarding how these guys are great at guitar.

The bands re evolving like everything else in this planet .Band members come n go, die or dissaperead , Axl is the reason why GNR is the band of what it is now not Slash or duff. If it would be up to them GNR probably would be another hair band of the80s dead and forgotten (Wasp,Poison,Motley crue etc)

if this is not a "true GNR record", whatever that means, then all of the Metallica albums made after Dave Mustaine & Jason Newstead left and Cliff Burton died, are not "real Metallica" albums. All the AC/DC albums after Bon Scott died are not real AC/DC albums. All the Van Halen, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, etc. aren't real. They all had members leave or die to be replaced by someone else.

The difference is that this isn't a true GNR record, because Slash, Izzy, Duff, and Steve all contributed an element that made GNR unique. It's just like Black Sabbath. They can't do it without Ozzy, even though they've tried a few times. Also, Axl isn't Ozzy, in the sense that he can't make a good solo album, if this is meant to be such.

Look, I understand it's different from Appetite, but the songs really are very good. No one--no one--on the radio right now sounds like this vocally, and no one writes songs like this with such a vocalist at their center.
I do agree that if Axl Rose does care about perception and sales--and he may not--then he will eventually have to promote the record.

Chinese Democracy is not a true Guns N' Roses album. Ego aside, Rose does not make GNR. Think about the album title. Chinese democracy doesn't exist. It's at best a facade, a manufactured cover-up of a more dictatorial reality. More realistically, it's an ideal, a hope, a dream.

why is it so different !!! the lineup was changed before in the beggining there was no slash duff or steven it was axl and izzy who were the only original members and the lineup changed completely when they werent famous noone cared chinese democracy is a true guns n roses album its got the harshness of apetite and the grandiosity of use your illusions 1 and 2 its incredible if people actually listened to the lyrics they'd find all these things and understand why this album is amazing

The real problem is that the sounds that made people fall for GNR in the first place — that classic GNR bluesy barroom stomp — are nowhere to be found. Axl is not GNR, any more than Roger Waters is Pink Floyd or Jim Morrison is The Doors. Anyone who thinks so is clearly not paying attention.

but this album doesnt rock ...cause there's no rock except this song....it's a bunch of november rains combined....a BIG dissapointment although there are some serious cool songs on this album...but i miss the drums the bass the guitar....
