I bought OSX Snow Leopard server which came with mini server. I tried to install the OSX on an Xserve. Everything was going great with the install until I got to the target disk process. When I selected my target disk(Server HD) and click install, the installing window did not show up with the progress of the install. Instead the target disk window stayed up with the Server HD icon. I then click install again. I then would get a pop-up message that said,
@rdw3ut " An install is already in progress. You cannot begin another install from this computer". That target disk window has been up for eight hours without going to the installing window. When I was ask whether I wanted to upgrade or erase disk on Xserve, I click on erase. Would that have anything to do with why my install is taking so long to install on 80gb harddrive? I am attempting to do a remote install.
@rdw3ut you should click upgrade because while your computer is on your essentially erasing the operating system on your hard drive not allowing you to go further into an install process. Upgrades go through the necessary steps so that you don't lose data
Your tutorial is wonderful, I previously worked on Window server platform and had to migrate to Mac environment on my new job. your videos has been very helpful, and my new server and domain clients are working well in just 2 days. I however have slight problems with login from windows pcs. users on my mac servers cannot login into their accounts, and i have to enter the admin pswd for them to access their shared drive.. can you shed some light on this..thanks once again.
Mark, Thank you for your videos. I have an interview coming up soon and it is very useful. Keep up your good work. Looking forward for more videos. thank you once again.
