  • I notice that this camera man only focus on only one dancer in front which he likes. Don't be a bias, try to capture all of dancesr next time even that you think those are not your favorite.

  • Which year? 2101? or is the Shan year?

  • please abandon bur ma and join laos

  • hmmmm its Thai song! Although celebrating Shan New Year...

  • All Tai must united, shared one unity, as one people, one voice and One Shining Representive Country in the world community. We are not lost dogs scatter around the globe. The time it is now, we needed our own country, independence in order to prosper, renew our Tai stature and identity in the developed world community.

  • เพลงนี้ ภาษาไทยใช่ไหม?

I think this song is in Thai language, not Tai(Shan) or Lao.

  • i don understand the language but i love shan song and dance and the shan people too.many blessing to shan people and better life will come to the people of shan state. can somebody pls tell me how to say i love u in shan language:)

  • @bob9ism Hao Hark Hsu(I love u) in Tai language.

  • @nwaylao1 Thks, God Bless You :)

  • songkran day festival is all tai ethic groups new year สุขสันต์วันปีใหม่ไท shan +siam

  • I didn't know that Tai Yai listen to music from Thailand.

  • @hanoibunny - they do and if asked what they are, they will say that they are Thai not Burmese.

  • i love this song, its catchy. the guy version is also good.

  • Polite word just create a few decades ago.

People in Bangkok always speak "tarn" instead of "kin" for eat , because of polite word effect.

  • Poo Yai Lee is Thai song, sing in central Thai tone with some Lao word.

Poo Yai mean head of village (position, not age).

    Sukorn mean pig.

People in up country don't know the word sukorn because it's a new word call polite word use by Thai government and people in some situation.

I don't like these polite words because it make us Thai in Thailand far away from our brothers Tai and Lao.

  • During the time, Thai and French were dividing the lands between Thailand and Laos again.

These "polite words" was a clever way of "THAI-fication" of Lao speakers in the rural border region, because the land was being divided base on the people that occupied the territory. Partly, why the prior name change from Siam to Thailand, to encompass the people. Inherently Lao refer to themselves as Tai-(place name).

Thai restaurants serve moo not sukorn. polite?

  • The French went along because of fear that more Lao people and territory would fall under communist.

Essan was and still is a Lao speaking region.

Thai and Lao are related does it really matters now which side of the border we live in?

  • Liar,

did the poster on the background says 'Happy TAI New year"? Duh...

  • What does the poster have to do with anything. We were talking about Essan not Shan.

  • Perhaps the Shans should leave Burma and join Thailand good luck!

  • I don't think Shans would want to give up their homeland anyway.

  • We Burmese love thai, shan and the rest of our 135 national races but not rohingya and Kalar.

  • Here is your family: Tai

Isan · Khorat Thai · Khün · Lanna · Lao · Lao Ga · Lao Krang · Lao Lom · Lao Loum · Lao Ngaew · Lao Song · Lao Ti · Lao Wieng · Lu · Northeastern Thai · Northern Thai · Nyaw · Nyong · Phu Thai · Phuan · Saek · Shan · Southern Thai · Tai Bueng · Tai Daeng (Red Tai) · Tai Dam (Black Tai) · Tai Gapong · Kaleun · Tai Nüa · Tai Wang · Tai Yuan · Thai (Central Thai) · Yoy

  • They're not lao but they are part of tai-kadi family. Same as thai, esan, lao,shan,tai-lue, etc... are all subgroup of tai-kadi. All came from what is now taiwan.

  • they not eat sticky rice .and they not laos

    hahahahhahahaha..who care...im laos

  • who said, they ain't laos? they are tai just like you, fool.

  • You are right. It is a Thai song but it is Thai E-sign (Laotian Language).

  • It's not Thai song, it's Tai Shan

  • KTeknique.

This "Phu yai Lee" is a Central Thai song. It's not Shan. If you knew how to speak Shan, you wouldn't think it's Shan.

  • It's Thai music na.

  • Lao come united with Lao build a greater nation..only way to survive we must stick together.. if we saparate and small we will be threaten and invade by others

  • That's for real man KHON LAO STAND UP! That includes Tai Lue all the Tai ethnics. :) and the Thai's and Vietnamese better stop fighting for our land and our goods!

  • this is a tai yai video the people who own northern burma have nothing to do with thais or lao. get your racist hate history somewhere eles.

  • You're stupid, read the history of Tai Yai or "Tai Shan", they are of Lao descendant.

  • can u talk without bashing people? or your just a no class person. anyway lao descendant? then how come all tai in china burma northern thailand never call themself lao they go by tai and happy to be call tai. and if anyone mention lao to them they said lao seperated from the tai which is them. the language they use they call it taikadai dialect not lao kadai dialect. and khun lo was even mention as a tai king not lao. tai and lao are the same thing but its lao that is a tai descendant.

  • We are all the same people no difference, why are you trying to separate us? Thai, Lao, Tai all the same, Tai just means "people" Tai Muang Luang" people of "Muang Luang" "Tai ViengChan" means "people of ViengChan" we're all the same, so stop saying "OH they are not of Lao descendant" WE ARE ALL THE SAME. You're talking about "Khun Lo" I'm talking about way before Khun Lo was even born. "Khun Borom" he said we are of the same people. So just use your heart not your brain.

  • I like your comment, start with what we share in common, positive tone, not what divide us, many of people in this web disscussion, try to score every point, not to unite Lao, thai, or all Tai people.

  • tai descendant, not lao.

  • lol NORTHERN BURMA? LOL THEY OWN SOUTH EASTERN BURMA NEAR THE BORDERS OF THAILAND AND LAOS.

  • southern eastern burma are the karen people. tai yai live in shan state thats up north near mae sot thailand.

  • its people like you who make laos fall and get invaded all you think about is negative stuff and war.

  • Fah jang fah jang jung pung hehehe. Just remember when I was a little boy living in Luang Prabang I used to talk like that. Sadly over the years I'm starting to loose some of my Lao words.

  • After listening to this song I'd say Shan dialect is a lot closer to Lao than Thai.

  • Wow! sounds like Lao the words are the same. Ma noi ma noi tum ma da. hehehe

  • the first dancer that came out. she so sexy, i like her style

  • the camera is focused on her most of the time

  • yep i noticed that

  • beautifull tai girls and very sexy

  • great thai song

  • Actually it was a celebration of Shan New year in Muse, a town in nothern Shan State in Burma. The name of the dance is Sao Thai ( Thai women). Shan pepole never called themself Shan, they call themself Dai.However, Thai call them Thai Yai, they live mostly in Shan State in Burma, some live in southern China, nothern Thailand, especially Mae Hongson, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, some in Lao, and some in North eastern India.

  • Shan is Burman word to address them

  • hey!Victir, I love your translation, hilarious me and my wife laughed all the way to the grocery store. thanx a bunch.

  • good music i like it .

  • I understand 100% thai ha..ha..ha..

  • It is fun to listen to some Shan music and look at the background scene is Shan language and I have no idea or what does it mean to the poster?

  • Oh so this song is in Thai instead of Shan?

  • yes the song is in thai a mix of central thai/Northeast Issan, I don't think they call it shan but Tai,Shan is a Burmese word and Tai means free. The tai language is similar to the Thai and Lao so that's why they use it I guess.

  • mix of central thai/Northeast Issan? No such language as Northeast (Issan). The language of Northeast people is Lao.

  • this song is a thai song not shan song ok

  • lol, you beat me towards the translation. The song is Thai that is why it's easier to listen to I can understand about 60-70% tai but 100% thai Victir you translated almost correctly I also don't know some words in english so. just go by his translation!

  • I don't know some of the words but here goes

Year...Elder Lee bang on the drums to start the meeting, the villagers come to the meeting at Elder Lee's house

Now Elder Lee will speak on what the meeting was about

The government says, The government says for the villagers to raise ducks and sogorns

A man asks what is sogorn?

Elder Lee stands up quickly, Elder Lee stands up quickly to say, what sogorn? It is ordinary little dog. Ordinary little dog

  • The sun is hot and Elder Lee rides Jont's Bike

The sun is Hot and Elder Lee wears black sunglasses

Elder Lee is scared it's going to rain he takes off his sunglasses off

    The light is shining brightly

(next comes a comparision between different things I don't want to trasnlate this part)

repeats again the song is alittle hard to translate there are some words I don't know in english.

  • lol i thought the song is serious

can you translate more lyrics from the song?

  • What does 'ma noi ma noi tum ma da' mean?

  • it means ordinary dog. it's a funny song.
