This is stupid. I own a MacBook Pro, and I would love to see Mac OS X running on 3,000,000 different machines without running into hardware/software compatibility issues (it only runs on what, 3 machines right now?).
I don't get why Apple can't just focus on the aspects that are truly better, like spotlight and finger gesturing. This makes me embarrassed to own an Apple computer.
Apple's cash cow is the Mac. OSX is merely there as a lure. That's the reason they won't allow it to be put on non-Mac hardware. When the company is already price-gouging by over-inflated amounts for hardware that is literally anywhere from 16-24 months old, it becomes easy to see what's going on.
Apple's greed permeates everything they do. If they wanted to be the revolutionary good guys they claim to be, they would show it by not swindling their customer base.
@MaestroDraven Yes, I agree. Their hardware isn't anything ground-breaking, revolutionary, or, sometimes, even current. Their OS, on the other hand, is absolutely beautiful.. and the fact that it runs perfectly with "their" hardware is what makes Mac so appealing (of course, one has to remember the 3 vs. 3,000,000 argument).
Perhaps not, but ASUS isn't suffering from it, or MSI, or Clevo, or the countless other fantastic desktop manufacturers out there. They're selling computers are sane prices with fantastic hardware configs.
As for OSX, I've got nothing against it aside from its bad security issues and the fact that it's not nearly the workhorse Apple pretends it is. I parallel it on my W7 machine and it's.....intriguing, but way too narrow-ended for my tastes.
I think with OS X how usable it is depends on what you do. I do layout for a newspaper, and that requires a lot of time in InDesign and Photoshop. The entire Adobe suite works so much better in OS X. I also use OS X for all my internet browsing. Windows has all my games and Sony Vegas, etc., on it.
They both have their advantages.. which is why my Apple computer runs both of them.
Not saying it's not usable. But for instance, what you're saying about InDesign and PS. Photoshop was never designed for newspaper layouts. Not on your life. You should be sticking to a program like CorelDRAW or Illustrator for that. You might think Adobe Suite runs better on OSX. Adobe themselves think different and have always said that PCs run their stuff faster than Macs. The benchmarks have proven it.
Unless you're going to scale your RAM, 4GB isn't going to help you.
Ahhhh, Ok. You know coincidentally I will build everything in CorelDRAW, import EPS to Photoshop for color editing. Fantastic combo if you're looking for ease of use and speed. Saves lots of time.
Feels better? Mehhhhhh, Ok, I will give you that. For me, I prefer Windows because.....unlike OSX, I can tailor it specifically the way I want, right down to the finest detail. Now granted, all that freedom comes with the possibility of screwing things up which is what alot of folks do, but I'd rather take that if I can set things up according to my liking. I parallel OSX on my W7 machine and I am NOT happy with the inability to tailor it the way I want it.
@MaestroDraven I completely get what you mean. OS X is tailored by Apple so that its' average user will never have to change anything. Windows 7, on the other hand, allows itself to be changed.. which of course allows for user error.. mistaken for MS' error.
Case in point: RAW photo manipulation in Photoshop. Working with a 4000px file is an exercise in futility if you're running standard Mac hardware. You'll bottleneck very quickly even if you increase usable RAM percentage. Now you have to install more RAM. You can be price-gouged by Apple for it, or buy your own..after having chosen from a limited range of compatible RAM.
PCs on the other hand use ultra-high performance RAM that can be scaled by huge margins at fantastic costs.
yea this is a bit, no wait, VERY hypocritical seeing my macbook PRO does crash from time to time possibly due sometimes having a bunch of applications open but i bet most people have that.
No computer should crash due to having lots of applications open. Most crashes are due to an error in the code, a buggy piece of software, or a RAM dump which....yes, an affect all platforms equally.
@Callum2356 my sister got a powerful new Asus laptop with a brand new i5 2.4GHz processor, 8GB RAM, a 1GB Video card, and a 500GB Hard drive. I start it up to install Office for her (it runs Windows 7)....
Bullshit. Ive been using vista for 5 years and never got a freeze up. I got the bsod once but it was an easy fix after looking up the stop error info. Mac is filthy liar!
find it funny how i saw many comments about youtube like "my mac froze while i was watching this video" now you would really dig pc's? now look at the first comment. Mac vs Pc? Pc never won. i have vista i only restarted once since i got some some graphic fukced up thing. now post something good about pc or rename the video why PC sucks

RuteNL 2 months ago
@RuteNL
There are no 8 core i7 processors. Yours is a i7-2600, which has 4 cores + hyper threading.
The Mac Pro uses dual Xeon processors - 2 processors with 4 cores each.
Your PC is comparable to a top-spec 27" iMac, which also has a i7-2600.
