  • Of course any pedal/amp can sound good at low volumes, but when the amp and pedal are pushed at full volume...thats the real test.

Is the gain still useable?, does the tone just break up?, or do these pedals enhance full playing volume?

I use the pisdiYAUwot through my modified triple rectifier, emgs, and ltdec401, and the sound is phenominal at cranked volumes~

  • I love you for this vid.

  • Wampler is a great pedal and can do far more than just this mode of playing. They have several models in high gains as well as some amazing ODs. Check out Bugermans demos of Wampler. Strat guy, Wampler is your deal, thick and the boost puts it over the top.

  • Finally someone who know's about mic placement! Excellent job!

  • @DoucheCake76 indeed about the mic placement! and also love your name! that is some sick shit! haha!

  • Burg, would you say that the MI Audio Tubezone is capable of any Boogie-type Mark Series tones? I'm looking for a pedal that could closely approximate the Mark IV, specifically the Petrucci timbre. Thanks in advance!

  • hey man when you max out the gain on the tubezone and set your amp to a gigging volume do you get a terrible fat unmusicle feedback from it? Mine does it all the time buty none of these demos ever seem to do it. wondering if my pedals stuffed

  • wow, great heavy sounds! especially the triple wreck and provalve ped great!! which amp do you play here? which settings?

  • tubezone much more organic..triple wreck sound too much compression..it can suck ur tone during at stage with band.pro valve sound good too..more like Dimebag.

  • Please let us know your own thoughts and personal favourite dude! I'm in the market for a high gainer and can be hard to be certain when listening through Youtube's compression...I was close to pulling trigger on Triplewreck until I stumbled on this shoot-out...The Provalve seems massively more 'Hi-Fi' with shed-loads more dynamic range and resolution than the rest, yet still produces more than ample gain to compete....

  • OK, well this was a VERY interesting shoot-out I feel, and while everyone hears subjectively, it seems I'm alone in liking the Provalve best (and by some margin!)...maybe it's what I'm listening on (high quality headphones out of my notebook's audio jack) but there's no contest when it comes to resolution, harmonic overtones, amp-like 'feel' and incredible dynamic range compared to the rest. VERY taken aback by your demo dude, in market for high gainer & was about to pull trigger on wampler...

  • I was just about to uninstall my browser untill i got to this page. Thankyou for showing us that tone is still alive.

  • :Q_

  • Triple Wreck is my fav.

  • Also, never heard really liked the triple reck sound, oddly so many like it, i think it's raggedy ass.

  • Hmnn, i kinda like that emma!

Tighter gain structure, bit muffled sounding in the vid, but obviously can be brightened up a bit.

  • i thought the pro valve and the triple wreck sounded the best :-)

  • i like the PISTIYAWA better. thats the origin of the name

  • hey great vid, im really interested in the triplewreck, i play a strat sss and i play mostly metallica/tool/mastodon stuff would this be a good choice for me, i want to add some beef to the single coils

  • @hendrix184 Not sure about singles with the might TW. I personally go for humbuckers with it because the gain is so ferocious the noise floor might be a little much. You can crank the mids, though, and it will sound OK.

  • @Burgerman666 I'm pretty sure old school Metallica would need their mids turned down just a bit, and the highs and lows turned up. I'm also searching for a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Channel 3 kind of sound in a pedal. I obviously don't have the money for that kind of amp, so do you have any suggestions on a distortion pedal that can emulate that type of sound?

  • Deftones....hell yeah buddy!

  • Tube Zone all the way!!

  • I think the Triple Wreck destroys the other pedals....nice demo...

  • Thumbs up for the Provalve! Very nice!

  • triple wreck seem a nice choice to be front DS/OD pedal boosting other one, especially its creamy tone :p

  • I would like to see the same comparison with the Blackstar HD DIST-X replacing the Provalve. The Blackstar is more inline with the others and is far more brootalz than the Lovepedal, IMO. It might even win.

  • @twistedH3L1X I've requested a demo unit from Blackstar and they haven't so much as replied despite several emails. So if that's indicative of their customer service..

  • @Burgerman666

I wrote the Blackstar people too, asking if they'd ever release anything new for metal, if they'd maybe consider a hand wired metal distortion pedal/unit. The wrote back, but just to tell me they'd never do anything unique.

I'd get a Dist-X used for $100.00, replace the tube. The pedal is a one trick pony though, only the British side sounds good. You get one heavy mean metal tone, crap eq, only one sound, no scooped mids even. They aren't innovators over there, they're dolts!

  • @twistedH3L1X i had the DIST-X, i thought i'd be able to replace my sans amp gt2 and my Damage Control Solid Metal pedal with the Blackstar pedal but it couldn't replace either of them..the tone controls have limited range and the gain is noisy and past 3 o' clock it didn't add much of anything...

  • I like the PisdiYAUwot and Triple Wreck best

  • It is great to find one of the worlds accomplished X menI mean axe man to ask a question to. I have a Fernandes Ravelle baritone with an 80 gage on to Fsharp b e a d g going through a b52 combo with a 15 inch orange base cab under it. I need a pedal that will give me a good tight start stop chuger chuger scream like a bitch sound with out loosing crunch or tone, I have an isp decimator g string on it’s way if that would help with the choice. I was thinking of the new version of the Bloody Mary.

  • tone freak severe and suhr riot please dude

    thx ^^

  • @wabwabb I'd love to, but neither company has come forward and I ain't buying anymore pedals (or I'll get thrown out of home!) :)

  • cool!

  • I hope you make a Metal Muff Video soon.

  • @HordesButcher

yep so ehx can step it up a notch!

  • Dude. You're on a boutique pedal roll!

It's time to check out the following.

    1. MI Audio Crunch Box

    2. Plush Noxious

I've heard that BOTH of them can REALLY bring the brootz!

  • @MeTuLHeD Heheh. I've covered the Crunch Box on my channel a number of times. Do a search on the channel's page. The Plush sounds interesting though; I'll check it out. Cheers, BK.

  • Always hard to tell unless one is plugged in but... just going on this video

I would pick in order the 1. Emma 2. Tube Zone 3. TW. 4. Pro Valve. For straight

amp metal sound the Emma really nailed it!

  • good video but alittle anemic in the low end. Provalve sounded the worst-emma the best.

  • Thanks for the great demo! I'm leaning towards the Emma in this demo.

  • I am the proud new owner of a Triple Wreck!

  • Triple Wreck wins. Who's next?

  • So which was the winner for you?

  • good job...deftones - rocket skates hehe i didnt imagine you on a 7 string and rockin deftones lol

    excellent :)

  • Great, great review. Comparisons are always the best way to really judge tone in my opinion. Thanks BK

  • It's the Emma for me, all the way. I've already heard that the mid-range is broad enough to do some serious shaping.

  • Thank you for the comparison. I was wanting to know how the emma pedal stacked up against the wampler and I think I like the wampler better, though the emma is very close.

  • Wampler all the way!

  • I love my PisdiYAUwot!!!

  • i like the sound of the triple wreck the best . thanks for the demo :D

  • Triple Wreck Sounded Best in this demo! warmest and fattest amp like tone..

That PisdiWTF-name is fizzy lol.. I

  • are going to do some more of these shootouts? I hope so...

  • Deftones?

You are the shiz, my man!

  • I never considered the Tube Zone a metal pedal. Hmmm....

  • @cosmogang Oh hell yeah. One of the best and meanest rectos-in-a-can out there. And then some. Evil damn thing. In a good way, heheh.

  • What's the deal with the name "PisdiYAUwot"???

  • Nice shootout! I'd go for the triple wreck myself :-)

  • Dig it!

It's a tie between the Emma and the Wampler for me.

  • Yup, I think the Tubez One wins it. Wampler coming in close second.

  • TZ shits on the others. It actually sounds like an amp and not a pedal.

  • The Emma is a little low on the volume yes?

That Tube Zone sounds surprisingly good at 18v. Maybe it is time to check out a v4 to use with my 8 string.

Thanks for the review. It takes time and effort to do these things. I appreciate it.

  • @Shredcow Yeah, I could've gunned the volume a little more on the Emma. Sorry Emma!! It's a little hard to know sometimes; the amp's blaring but you don't know how the waveform on the computer's looking (because it's on the other side of the room) and you just have to hope that it's not clipping. I need some new gear I think - like a decent compressor/preamp. Cheers and thanks for watching. BK.

  • @Burgerman666

people always need new gear lol

    thanks for this!

  • Wampler sounds heavy and tight! The PisdiYAUwot also sounds good but is a little flat

  • Wampler steals it again.
