I don't think anybody took interest in that town for a while and it wasn't even in the GPS. To think, Wade (Jared) would have been saved had Nick (Chad Michael Murray) came over earlier. One of the cars was not missing a headlight (raodkill guy's car), so they knew it was not him. I do not think he did, he just lured people to the town. He was just in for the ride.
