uh.....so.....yeah...nicely wrapped with jokes and sweet stories...but WHERE the explanation of SIN and REPENTANCE????? I was waiting...waiting...and waiting him to say that........when and how people recognise they are miserable sinners out of this and desperation for the need of salvation because of sin.... Is this that dreadful emergent church thing? I just hope not....
@skippy3737 Well, you can only really comment on people's fruit. God has used Mike Pilavachi hugely across the UK and the globe - in terms of discipleship, seeing many many young people changed by Jesus. Plus of course Soul Survivor event and church, and much more. It's probably best not to judge others, we all have our own call and simply need to be faithful to what God's calling each of us to do :)
You misunderstand. I didn’t like this particular sermon regarding how the scripture used and presented the Gospel and His character though it is nice and sweet to my ears. The web allows to vote ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ so I put ‘dislike’. I didn’t say I didn’t like him. He is funny and looks a nice person (this is called judgment of the person). Therefore I am not judging the person. I evaluated (judged) the clip.
If you read the Zephaniah, we can learn God’s wrath, judgment, Judah and surrounding nations’ sins, idolatry, idolatrous priests, punishment against complacency and pride, etc.
Without understanding what the context of the scripture is it is really hard to get the whole picture and God’s character.
With vague understanding what sins are, salvation and His love do not really come to make sense. As a result, it could be either work based to be a good person or prosperity/success/physical healing is the evidence of His goodness or serve for both God and idles (Zeph1:12). I said ‘I just hope not’. I really hope this is not from an influence of emergent church movement, which deliberately deny / omit / hide / modify hell, eternal judgment, sins, and repentance from the Gospel.
People don’t like to hear ‘sins’, ‘repentance’ or ‘hell’ ‘judgment’ ‘die to yourself’ but it is the elements of the truth. Yes, salvation is His and He is mighty to save. But repentance requires. Self denial requires. Persecution and trials are promised. Important thing is faithfully present the Gospel and His word whether people like it or not. If people didn’t like it, that’s OK. My opinion or my talk to attract people won’t save people but His words. Otherwise, it becomes another gospel.
The more people hear the full gospel and yet deny it, the persons’ accountability for denial increase before God. But God is merciful and send another person for another chance as He sent so many prophets to Israel (and Israel didn’t like it). Clear, but comprehensive presentation of the truth is more important to me than being popular to people. Sorry I didn’t know you only accept praise. If you disable ‘dislike’ or explain so it would be helpful. Thanks.
@skippy3737 thanks for your comments. Apololgies for any misunderstanding. I've heard Mike Pilavachi talk about sin and repentance. We need to give a full message of the gospel including hell, sin and judgement. But Jesus also came to give us life in this age and we need to hear this too. Just to clarify, I'm not quite sure what you mean by only accepting praise. I have made no edit to your comments, nor have I disabled anything. Cheers.
