just a small correction to the music titles. The last piece isn't called Land of Hope and Glory it is called Pomp and Circumstance March No 1 in D Minor
@farodealer The last piece called "Land of Hope and Glory" is correct. The lyrics came from the patriotic poem "Land of Hope and Glory" while the music is from Edward Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance marches. As a song with the music and lyrics, it is called Land of Hope and Glory... this piece is called "Pomp and Circumstance" when used as a march.
@JPRizal2000 if you look at the title on the music for the orchestra and the chior you will find it is Pomp and Circumstance March No1. If only the trio is used ie the part that is sung to is used then yes it is 'Land of Hope and Glory' but when the FULL march is played whether or not the words are sung then it is Pomp and Circumstance No 1. I am an ex military musician and never ever saw the title Land of Hope and Glory on top of the music
@farodealer As I said, when it is used as a march it is called "Pomp and Circumstance" as what Edward Elgar composed it. When it is sung with the lyrics it is called Land of Hope and Glory. Since the music in the video is composed of the musical piece and the lyrics thus it is correct to say that it is called Land of Hope and Glory.
Well, I am a member of a choir and I always see Land of Hope and Glory. Perhaps you just play it as a march only thats why you call it Pomp and Circumstance.
@JPRizal2000 well my late mothers choirs ALWAYS called it Pomp and Circumstance No 1 as the chief conductor for both choirs whilst Mum was in them was a personal friend of Sir Edward Elgar and he NEVER called the music 'Land of Hope and Glory' and Sir Malcolm was the top orchestral and choral conductor of his time maybe of all time
@farodealer well, TODAY we call it Land of Hope and Glory ^_^. I dont care what Edward Elgar said either way it's the same piece so I dont think there should be any argument with this stuff. im finished with this conversation because I have more important matters to think about. have a great day, mate! :)
It's an excellent channel. I love all British history and traditions, based on strong Christian values. I think British people can be proud of having such a fascinating cultural heritage. Congratulations!!
