They basically are going to abandon that Fantastic Four cast and maybe recast a new one if needed. Holy jesus, people! Just because he played cocky and wise assed as Human Torch doesn't mean it's the ONLY thing he can do! Stop pre judging! He has the look and can bulk up easily, plus, the FF movies means he has experience doing these kinds of films. He was one of the shining stars of the FF movie. I think it's a good thing.

I admit I was one of the ones that didn't know if Robert Downey Jr. was the best choice for Iron Man (though I didn't instantly hate him like fan boys), but he owned the role. John Cena should be Capt. reason #1 His body is built #2 never played a Super Hero before and last #3 Fits with the personality of the character Steve Rogers. Chris Evans is already known for the Human Torch and no one would take him serious for this role. Unlike Cena he has that patriotic presents and is perfect for this role.

Evans is a terrible choice. It doesn't matter that the original Fantastic Four franchise has ended, Evans was the Torch, and will always be associated with the Torch. Furthermore, he's just not Captain material. If he has any sense or respect for the source material, and fans of the comics, he'll turn down the role.
Garrett Hedlund and Mike Vogel are much more promising choices. Mark Valley is the living embodiment of the Captain, however, he's a bit too old for the intended incarnation.

this kinda sucks because what if they wanted to do a cross over movie with all the marvel characters like the expendables. Chris Evans is Human Torch Dead Pool and now Captian America. Those are all main Characters.

Are you saying that because Chris Evans acted as a cocky, hotheaded character he is unable to portray anything else?? I don't know about you, but I always thought acting was about impersonating a character, not the about the character impersonating the actor.

Holy jesus, people! Just because he played cocky and wise assed as Human Torch doesn't mean it's the ONLY thing he can do! Stop pre judging! He has the look and can bulk up easily, plus, the FF movies means he has experience doing these kinds of films. He was one of the shining stars of the FF movie. I think it's a good thing.

@nltandjonas I think he CAN do it if he works hard and takes it seriously. He has a LOT of work ahead of him. I admit I was one of the ones that didn't know if Robert Downey Jr. was the best choice for Iron Man (though I didn't instantly hate him like fan boys), but he owned the role. I'm willing to give Evans the chance, to be sure. My first choice for the role was Tahmoh Penikett from Battlestar Galactica and Dollhouse. He's Canadian but Hugh Jackman is Australian playing Canadian Wolverine.

They picked him for a reason. Michael J. Fox did it in BTTF Part 2, playing 3 different roles together, so he could easily do both roles in the Avengers. I'm sure it'll turn out good.

John Cena should be Capt. reason #1 His body is built #2 never played a Super Hero before and last #3 Fits with the personality of the character Steve Rogers. Chris Evans is already known for the Human Torch and no one would take him serious for this role. Unlike Cena he has that patriotic presents and is perfect for this role.

they should've casted an unknown, chris evans' face is okay for the role but not his acting. they should've gone with someone serious or more experienced.
because one way or another, capt. america will be one of the faces in the avengers franchise.
look at the actors who will be playing as the teammates of capt. america; robert downey jr., edward norton. if and only if they decide to put these actors in one epic superhero film.

Evans is a terrible choice. It doesn't matter that the original Fantastic Four franchise has ended, Evans was the Torch, and will always be associated with the Torch. Furthermore, he's just not Captain material. If he has any sense or respect for the source material, and fans of the comics, he'll turn down the role.
Garrett Hedlund and Mike Vogel are much more promising choices. Mark Valley is the living embodiment of the Captain, however, he's a bit too old for the intended incarnation.

I don't know if would call it bad casting as apposed to calling it a wild card. Granted, Chris Evans played an excellent human torch, but I don't think human torch was his main-stay marvel character, it might be his opportunity to really break through with Captain America. We'll see.
