  • MY HEARTLAND, HEARTLAND, HEARTLAND...

  • I forgot how good these were...hope I still have the vinyl...asked my brother to get rid of some for me...WHAT was I THINKING ????..Up the loft 2mrw :0(

  • I heard this on Pandora last night, as I was trying to go to sleep. Let me tell you, every part of me was livid. I threw pillow over my cat because his snoring wouldn't let me hear this song in its entirety. I regret nothing. My cat will forgive me.

  • This song always brings me a tear in my eyes...

  • The song of my soul.

  • magique

  • Just WoW!

  • 28 years later and it still does it.

  • i can listen to the sisters of mercy forever

  • My heartland heartland heartland... remember 1989 "Hamburger Berg". Great days, great music - with every sadness, will never miss that days. Love to you, Andrew - wherever you are now.

  • Thumbs up if you've been caught singing Heartland, Heartland in the middle of the office.

  • @freudastaire Ha ha, oh gods yes!!

  • A soundtrack for gray afternoons and sleepless nights...

  • A hymn of my youth

  • Dark Greetings from Northgermany !

  • @MegaGOTLAND yeah deutschland

  • Yep, their best best - listening, you travel with unerringly focused speed across the night, drawn further inward towards this mysterious realm Eldridge solemnly incants

  • This is the best Sisters song. Truly Majestic

  • First song I've ever listened from the Sisters, and my favorite ever since

  • andrew is like listening to a dark angel sing

  • timeless... *♥♥♥*

  • seriously, i have one playlist of only this song 50 times

  • Has anyone got any idea if Eldritch is actually going to record anything as SOM again?

  • I remember back in my teens when i used to listen to this song all my friends would tell me SOM sucked..

I told them to fuck off, and ten years later i still listen to them (although not as often) with the same appreciation.

  • Still love this. One of the guitar parts on the chorus toward the end sounds like a violin. I also have the 12 inch green sun, with the Brain Eater distribution sticker on the back.

  • never going to stop loving this song

  • The original 12" vinyl had a black sun radiating green rays.

  • @psychonaut11

Apparently, the B Side to the Temple Of Love 12".

  • @psychonaut11 : I have the original. The picture is from a cd.

  • I first saw the Sister of Mercy when I was 13 in 1990; I've loved them ever since. This is my fav song by them.

  • BEAUTIFUL, love the lyrics, the sound

  • good old time

  • semplice ma bella. molto cow boy.........cavalli.....cappelli.......briglie.....speroni.......e ki piu ne ha piu ne metta

  • First & Last & ALWAYS - The Sisters!!

  • MY HEARTLAND, HEARTLAND, HEARTLAND...

The Sisters are always a part of my life...

  • @HousekaterClaudio Me too. I was only saying earlier today to someone that I cant believe that their music still fills me "body and soul" as much as it used to back in the day. Excuse the language please but I FUCKIN LOVE IT, no, really :-)

  • just rediscovered SOM after best part of 20 years, and as my cassettes etc are defunct finding this was a joy. Brilliant song, just builds and builds getting more frenetic and desperate with every "repetition".

  • i have an original double cassette of SOM, vhs style case. . .v

  • music for the body and soul, the early sisters - including First and Last..., my favourite album of all time - this song my favourite sisters track, though

  • best goth guitar theme ever! sets in around 2:32 and reappears gracefully along the way

  • Besides the repitition - around 3:40 there is a second voice singing (actually its more shouting) 'heartland:, but its very silent and subtle. Its just me hearing it? Maybe Im getting insane? ;)

  • @Capa1975 Yes actually there is a second voice that's screaming heartland, I also thought I was losing it, but after raping the repeat button, I found I was sane all along.

  • Amazing band. I only discovered them recently and I've enjoyed going back and listening to their records.

  • отлично

  • This used to open many a party :) omg how sex was the girls back then lol

  • this song is on the b-side of the temple of love maxi together with the stones cover gimme shelter...first vinyl i had from the sisters...and i was hooked!

great band and great song... i love it

  • mmmmm love it! SoM forever!

  • This album is Epic in every way. Thanks Loftynl =D

  • What makes one song "work" and another not? Repetition can irritate -- please Toni Basil, stop saying "Hey Mickey!" Yet here it is hypnotic, or as "trazeebarb" says, emotive. I credit the band and/or the producers for the guts to get in to the beat and repeat "My Heartland" in to us all the way.

  • i really think this is my favorite song

i have one playlist which is this song 20 times

for some reason it just speaks to me

i wish i was growing up during the time this came out

  • This was a deeply personal anthem for me. And it still is.

Thank you Gary, Craig and Andrew for filling a void with your hypnotic and inspiring music.

TSOM circa '82-'85 - What a fantastic, creative, chaotic time. (Yes, Mr. Hussey. You too. Bless you.)

  • MY HEARTLAND, HEARTLAND, HEARTLAND !!!

The Sisters are part of my Life!

  • Wonderful...i like it....i member at my old time, than i was a cothic 20 years ago ;-)

  • This song is one of the absolute best by Sisters of Mercy. It's maybe a bit forgotten cause it came before the debute album "First And Last And Always", which was released in 1985. Sisters forever, i've loved em since 1984, and they are still my top favourite band. No band could ever reproduce the feeling Sisters did, ever, period.

  • I realy like Sisters long time.......saw them twice live, terible sound,a lot of mistakes and too fucking short...........they are a good studio band, but a terrible live band...... .

  • Lay me down the long white line

Leave the sirens far behind me

Pay my name in black and gold

  • this music is for us, not for them!

  • Yeah, Merry Christmas....and lay down a long white line for Santa....ho, ho, ho......

  • and leave the sirens far behind me. Paint my name in black and gold. My heart, my fame, my heart, my road.

  • meraluna festival 2000:

the fields of the nephilim played on late sturday afternoon and andrew headlined the day... so nothing is impossible... ;-)

  • My favourite Sisters song.

Among all the beautiful others, this one stands out!

    Cheers, mate!

  • pure nostalgy!!!!

  • Such a majestic sisters song such depth and beauty. Whoever says they are morbid needs their fucking heads testing!!!

  • they can be morbid ,but thats not a bad thing , the music is great n so are goths.

  • Hey, whilst you're uploading loads of songs from Some Girls... any chance you can upload the proper version of Temple of Love? I'm sick of all the 92 rubbish :-/

  • @randomeddiemusic

Amen brother, me too. I would be so glad if someone would upload a live or otherwise version of Temple of Love. I would do it, but I am technically challenged and don't know how to upload anything for YouTube!

  • That just isn't true.

  • Ah, the good old days. Man, I'm old. Soon, Flock of Seagulls will be the golden oldies.

  • one of my fav sisters song...thx for posting

  • I love this song so f*cking much!

  • I'm going crazy here! Does anyone know where I can find 'Some Girls Wander By Mistake'? I asked my local HMV if they could order it and they looked at me like i'd asked for the blueprints to an H bomb. Love this song, great guitar riff and Andrew is at is best!

  • sister ray. berwick street. soho. London.

its a famous alternative music shop

  • Cool, thanks for that. Next time I'm in london I'll check it out. U can usually pick a copy up on ebay for about 2 quid, but u never know what the condition's gonna be

  • try ressurection records camden they specialise in goth/ebm/industrial

  • Similar experience. Still searching, but liking the comment, a very 'Eldritchian' flavour.

  • Thanks. The main reason I love the Sisters; the irony, sarcasm and wit in his lyrics :D

  • You can get on itunes and Amazon and ebay and HMV have it sometimes...

  • Great song!

  • My ultimate and favorite SOM song!!

    Next month in Brussels!!

    Jihaa!!

  • bardzo to lubię nie wiem czemu :)

  • awesome group what more can you say

  • only 8000 watches.....does nobody like the sisters or that song?

  • Maybe they don´t know the sisters...

  • people outside certain circles don't know who they are. I found them in the 90's only because of quotes of their lyrics in werewolf the apocalpyse

  • haunting quality, that's it dude, I'd say it lies somewhere between the deep and the intense

    Hail TSoM!!

  • hell yeah

  • "early passing"?

    he fecking died.

  • so fucking good

  • This one and kiss the carpet!

  • oh yes!! ;)

  • this was my favorite song for a long time when i was a teenager. i find the repitition very emotive

  • same for me dude

  • absolutely. it has such a haunting quality

  • succinctly put. Got to love them and the covers they choose are perfect.

  • I'm with you!!

  • @trazeebarb why do you find it emotive?

  • This is one of my fav Sister's songs. Thanks for that. Haven't listened to them for ages as my collection is all on vinyl, in this age of cd's and downloads.

  • So, so good!!

  • I love this song

  • music/its artistic manuverin/positioning has been pushed to it's fullest/legit extreme. 1993 was the last year of creative/original musical/artistic expressions. A small, minute hypothetical genre call 'power-violence' was to me, the last of ALL subgenres and is the rarest. It's time to create newer tools and abandon fashion trends/affiliaitions in order to express ourselves...

  • i agree but til 1994 when Kurt Cobain Died...

  • Kurt was a simple thief, and only concidered a genious due to his early passing.

  • Well were all entiltled to our opinions.

  • '1993 was the last year of creative/original musical/artistic expressions'

How can you say such a thing? What, no art after 1993? How ridiculous. I can give Laibach as an example.

  • i love this song, what about the cover version by TRIANA? i like it too...

  • Love the guitar.

  • oh it's a classic is this. they were miles better before the 90's

  • Thanks for downloading this. Excellent song. My Heartland (40 times?)

  • ..and still not boring :)

    My pleasure to post it
