  • i <3 cats that dont have tails my cousin has a tail-less cat

  • While I'm here, I'll do a quick update;

Liska, here, had 2 cubs. A male and a female. The male (Floyd) has returned this year and mated with Flora. 2 cubs were born this Spring, both male. Floydski, who behaves like his Father, bold and friendly, and another, as yet, un-named cub who behaves like his Mother, timid and flighty. So we have 4 foxes now in the garden every day. Eating our scraps, stale bread sandwiches, eggs and cheap dog biscuits. The foxes and cats are still giving and taking. :o)

  • cat lost tail after fox fighting, yes?

  • @dlfjsdhfjksdhfjksdfh

    Uuuuuuuummmmmmm. Let me think now.

    No.

My cats are Desert Lynx, which are more often than not, born with no tails and extra toes.

    Thanks for your concern :o)

  • Town foxes can and do kill cats. I've seen it myself numerous times and they usually do it in pairs harrying the cat from all sides so it can't escape. A big fat moggy is a nice easy meal with people being discouraged from throwing out food. Simply because a fox will co-exist with a cat means nothing while the fox has an alternative food supply. Too many people seem to get their ideas on animals from old Walt Disney cartoons. Time to grow up.

  • @Silkie341

So....you've SEEN foxes kill cats, numerous times ?? Might l ask why you didn't intervene, as it seems obvious that such an occurenece would bother you. Or are you just letting off some hot air and attempting to put foxes in a bad light, as you seem very pre-occupied with rabbits ?

I do watch Disney films with my daughter, but prefer to use my 5+ years of close interaction with foxes and my 2 cats to draw my conclusions, thankyou.

Grow up ? I'm 46....is that big enough to know? :o)

  • @basketcase3 while i understand that you may feel bad for the cat. interfering with the food chain really isn't fair for the predator either. If they earned the meal, they earned it. simple as that.

  • @Silkie341 Couldn't agree more like the fact that cats have been hurt is not a mystery, this is not scooby doo. just look at the numerous stories and articles on the internet and any apartment around greater london and you will find these scavengers turning into hunters.

  • This reminds me of the old man and his wife. They can spend hours in the same room, pretending the other is not real.

  • DON'T be fooled! A fox certainly can and have killed cats. There are various reasons why they do. One, is simply being hungry enough to eat anything. Two, if the fox feels threatened...several reasons why the fox may feel threatened such as having a den of baby fox's nearby. Third, animals have different personalities and some are simply far more aggressive then others. Just because this one video does not display a fox killing a cat, does not mean they won't. Of course a fox can kill a cat.

  • @netmoney 'Can' is very different from 'will'... As discussed below, an extremely rare occurence. Most people assume a fox will immediately chase and attack a cat on sight......but no, they don't. A very complex issue that is nothing like what most people assume as 'common knowledge'. I've been watching foxes closely for 5 years now, so l guess from what l've seen in that time, l could have a valid point...?

  • @basketcase3 Maybe if you stopped feeding those foxes you'd see the reality.

  • @AvatarOfBalthazar I cannot possibly supply enough food to fully satisfy all the foxes in this area. All I am providing are 'snacks' for 2 or 3..... I am not changing 'reality'. LOL !!!!!!!!!!

  • True, I have seen coyotes go off with kittens but never a fox. At least in these parts of Western Canada.

  • @seanbl1 I haven't seen the news report (broken link now I believe) but from the URL posted here I see "Fox Believed To Be Biggest Ever Found In Britain Is Caught And Killed After Apparently Killing Cat"

It's odd how humans are taking it upon themselves to choose what lives or dies.

  • @OroCrimson: You are right they should have not killed this Fox, if it did kill a Cat well that was unfortunate but that's life...

  • @basketcase3 Its not available to me either so I'm guessing its private.

  • @seanbl1

Hmm... Nothing is shown and nothing was seen. 2 foxes have been killed.....1 very big. If the cat was indeed killed and eaten, how do we know that it was these 2 foxes ? Was the cat old or ill ? AND if there was a problem that the cat couldnt deal with out on the 'doorstep', why wasn't there a cat-flap fitted for it to get inside quickly and safely ?

Perhaps in these extreme conditions, starvation has driven a fox to eat a cat. That's sad, but still extremely rare...

  • @basketcase3: I happened to see a Cat whizz by me this morning with a Fox in hot pursuit and it was clear what the Fox had on his mind.

This Fox from the story on Skynews was a very large a big animal and he did kill and eat the neighbors Cat. Fox's are becoming more daring, now that they've moved in and settled into life in suburbia. A Fox attacked two babies in cots in the back garden of someone’s home last year. I think one can safely say that Fox's will eat almost anything...

  • @seanbl1

    As I tried to say in my first reply....it was all hear-say. A reported cat gone missing....no visual proof. 2 dead foxes that supposedly ate the cat...... And here is a link expressing and re-enforcing my first gut reactions;

    facebook.(com) /Foxinparliament

More cats die from fox hunting packs than from foxes......

  • @basketcase3: Nothing to show? The fox did eat the Cat unless or course what they found in its stomach was something else or maybe it's one of those conspiracy theories that the meat got their by some super-natural means.... Yeah right!!

A Fox will eat a Cat, it's the same as a big Dog killing a cat no difference!!

  • @seanbl1

No-one actually saw what happend. No-one saw WHICH fox (or neighbours BIG dog) killed/ate the cat. There is no video footage or pictures. Where are the post mortem details on the foxes stomache? Its all guess work till there is absolute positive proof. You and I were not there, so all we can do is speculate. Round and round. As I have repeatedly said, a fox will not chase/kill/eat a healthy adult cat, but probably will go for an old/very young/sick cat if it was really desperate..

  • They don't kill the adults. They eat the kittens.

  • it amazes me how much fox's can pack away,i have a couple that visit ,and luckily they do not have mange,if fact they look like they go to the hair dressers !! they adore eggs.

  • You guys are being really rude to the poster of this video. It's not like they threw their cat at the fox to disprove a myth, they are observing their cat hanging out in it's territory where a wild animal just happens to also be. You people are being super harsh especially considering the poster gave the WILD fox MEDICINE, they didn't have to do anything to help a sick animal that isn't theres.

  • @Guildenstern98

Aha !!!! The voice of reason at last : )

    Thanks for the positive comments..

    Bazza

  • QUESTION!: WHAT KIND OF KAT IS THAT?? I HAVE A CAT JUST LIKE THAT BUT HE HOPS LIKE A BUNNY. SEND ME A MESSAGE.

  • I think its beautiful and clearly neither animal was a threat to the other x

  • There are some very odd people around.

Nice video by the way...I wonder what your cat was going to do once she had pounced on the fox?

  • Looks like the fox has mange.

  • @katgirl1958

yep, but all cured thanks to free treatment from the National Fox Welfare Society.

    Bazza

  • I WOULDNT RISK MY CATS LIFE TO TRY AND PROOF A MYTH WRONG WHAT IF THE FOX WHICH I LOVE DOES TURN?

  • @kiara282

Im not DOING anything.......but simply watching my cats interact with local wild foxes. Im not trying to proove anything. My 2 cats are the King and Queen of my garden. The foxes in my area do not mess with my cats. I've watched foxes being chased off, many times..... What am I supposed to do......? Keep my cats in....? Tell the foxes to 'keep out'......? LOL : )

  • @kiara282

looks like the fox is REAL interested in eating the cat. LOL

  • @kiara282 FOXES DONT EAT CATS RETARD NOW GO BACK TO EATING FOXES FAGGOT

  • Your cat seems very tolerant. Mine is a large tomcat, quite territorial, and he'd have torn a hole through that fox.

  • i cant believe you actually filmed this i wouldnt take the chance that the fox might attack and kill my cat you dont deserve in ANYWAY the right to own animals

  • @SirknightMMB

    LOL : )

You are obviously jumping to HUGE conclusions that are very far from the truth....

A question, or 2, first might have been a better way to react.

  • @SirknightMMB Are you an idiot? A cat is far far FAR more likely to attack a fox than vice-versa. I own 4 outdoor loving cats and we also have foxes in our garden constantly. Do I always need to run into my garden to chase the foxes off just in case they hurt my cats? No! Cats are often very territorial and will chase and attack the foxes when they see them in the garden. Never in the 15 years of living in my current house have I ever seen one fox stand up to my cats. They will run every time!

  • I've never uploaded a video and am not sure if my connection would let it happen....crummy dsl from Verizon in rural area. I saw one of our fox on Weds. nite, not really red though, more like a fawn.My neighbor just told me that there's a den with 3 cubs on her property in a hole! What is done about the rabies issue with these fox near you? Are you on Facebook?I have pics posted there.Thank you for your second response!

  • I cannot believe I got a response from the UK in just a few minutes! Thanks, basketcase! If you'd like to connect on Facebook, just let me know. So you've got fox in London, like in the city? Never been there. Live in the Catskill in NYS, retired alpaca breeder, my hubby & I have 3 cats and still have our alpaca guard dog, a great pyr (who never barked at all when the fox passed by!). Are you rural or in the "city"? Neverbeenthere Thanks again for responding! Good health & cheers to you!

  • @dontbelivewhatyourea

Hiya, I live in the suburbs, not far from a large area of grass and trees (called a 'Common' here in the UK). The fox population in UK cities is thriving on all our wasteful waste. They're mainly nocturnal and sleep under sheds and the like. They are almost feline in their characteristics...and they don't have 'puppies' but have 'cubs'.

Howabout posting some videos of your cats and Alpaca ???

    All the best....Bazza : )

  • OKthe fox didn't eat the cat but what if there wasn't other food there? Had to laugh at how it was so much smarter than domestic pets in turning its nose up at the commerc food! Somehow I think this cat and fox know each other. That cat is just too cool! I do mean that as a compliment....still watching...and writing.sucky dsl up here in the catskills..... fox is just eating up those bones? OK, I know the "video" probably won't reply, but where was this? Its pretty quiet..Go Maelona!

  • @dontbelivewhatyourea

Hiya. This is an every day experience here in my garden in SW London. Foxes have a sweet tooth and LOVE honey or jam sandwiches, in which we put medicine for mange and canine multi-vitamin powder. I have 2 cats and the foxes do not mess with them. In fact when the mood takes them, my cats chase the foxes around. Ive been watching them closely for 5 years and find them very wary and timid. I have a 3rd generation set of cubs growing here right now..

    Very good company : )

  • This is not an urban myth - not at all. A hungry or desperate fox will definitely take on a cat even though they pose a greater risk than their normal prey. I even saw my own cat getting hunted by a fox in my neighborhood. She is healthy and quick so got away, but once they get a cat by the neck it is over. For the most part though, foxes and cats will typically keep out of each others way. Cool video. Thanks for posting it.

  • that Fox has mange

  • @Cody0148

Hiya.......the fox had mange, but we treated it and it recovered. Its grand-children are running around our garden now....... : )

  • @basketcase3 That is awesome

  • Fox's go for cats, sorry mate.. seen it happen across a road once, fox came running out after a load of wailing from a cat, with one in its jaws, had no idea what was going on at the time till i saw the fox come out

  • omg this is amazing

  • healthy fox healthy cat would not fight, both hurt each other, but a fox will kill kittens or old sick cats,as i know my old cat was killed one morning by a big dog fox,she was so old and weak.we should of had her put down befor the fox had her :( but we loved her to much

  • I love animals and this fox is adorable & so is the cat. Don't let the coyotes get these guys though.

  • Foxes will kill kittens...we had a fox in our neighborhood and it was seen with a kitten in it's mouth!

  • @ELSOL102

Humans kill every kind of animal imaginable...we're much more dangerous : )

  • @basketcase3 It depends which humans...I don't kill any animals... Everything kills something except for the vegetarians because we all have to eat. I think foxes are beautiful I can't imagine anyone wanting to kill them. Foxes eat smaller prey unlike coyotes that eat larger pray and can go after prey in a pack. Nature is strange.

  • @ELSOL102

Hiya, yep, strange is the word. I was just playing with the idea that humans fear/hate certain types of animals.....but the biggest killers are humans (as a species) I dont kill animals either and appreciate them all. They each have their rightfull place in the web of life. Luckily we dont have Coyotes here in the UK : )

  • the pro hunting lobby likes to use the myth of foxes killing cats as an excuse to bring back this horrible little blood sport. ppl often say 'my cat was attacked by a fox', or 'my cat disappeared' as proof, but did they see the attack, or ruled out cat inflicted injuries. do they realize how many cats are killed on roads or trapped in buildings, killed by nasty ppl etc. your vid shows cats and foxes live happily together.

  • pixy bob?

  • the poor fox looks really skinny

  • @scrateismyword

Yep, she was unwell......but she got better.

  • foxes WILL attack cats. Although its rare and they are fairly well matched so it unlikely the fox will stick it out until serious damaged is caused as it would recieve injury itself. Although a highly stung sexually active or a very hungry or even that young adult whose a bit too strong head for his own good will.

As said cats will more likely attack foxes as a domesticated animal, if it gets injured it still gets fed unlike the fox.

  • @scousejohn06

Hiya. Foxes have an extremely weak and poor immunity system and will back out of a fight rather than risk any sort of injury. We have 2 foxes as 'residents' in my garden and many others, 'coming through', and none of them go near my 2 young healthy cats.... Porky Pig and Maelona are king and queen of my garden : )

  • That's awesome. I love foxes. Cool vid.

  • lol its so funny to see how its stomach grows larger by the end of the video.

  • sure

  • i think the fox needs a bath

  • Are you offering ? : )

  • Keep feeding that fella, looks like he needs it.

  • They get a feast, every day.....and a vacant rent free weather-proof dog-house !! : )

  • Based on what I've seen it's more likely that the cat will attack the fox than the other way around. Foxes tend to be more timid leave-me-be scavenger types.

  • Exactly : )

  • Whatever, tell that to the fox who attacked my cat last night! Maybe he didn't get the memo.

  • Sorry to hear that.....my 2 cats chase them outa my garden quite often. The foxes here are timid and run away at the slightest provocation.

  • Your cat probably got attacked by a coyote. We've got them here in North Carolina now, and they're a real plague!

My tom cat got injured fighting one off last night, but fortunately, he grew up with raccoons in then barn, and he learned really REALLY well!

  • Sorry to hear about your pet. Hope the injuries aren't that serious. No, it was definitely a fox that attacked my cat. We dont have coyote where I live, but we have several fox. See them all the time. I guess this particular fox was hungry or PMSing, cuz it had my baby pinned for a few minutes before I could get out there with a bat. So maybe its rare that they attack cats, but they do, as I've seen it 1st hand.

  • I had a cat that used to play with the neighborhood fox. But why does it seem your cat is going to pounce on it?

  • This was long ago when my cats were still getting used to foxes feeding in our garden....she was a little warey still.

  • foxes will almost never bother the cats or any other animal - they will run first unless they are sick or starving - now their big bros the cotoyes they will kill your cats, dogs whatever they can - they are bad asses of the first water indeed

  • Where did you get a pet fox? Is it legal? Or did you just tame one from the forest? Where are you from? I think here in Europe you can't keep them as pets, because they're local wildlife... like squirrels... :o(

  • I think that fox is sick or has the start of mange. Its coat is a mess and it doesnt look healthy.

  • Hiya, as stated several times in this 'thread' of messages.....yep, she had mange......we gave her medicine..and she got better : )

  • It's so weird seeing a cat with no tail...

  • You cat is really cute. ^_^ Is it a manx?

  • Maelona, in the video, is a 'Desert Lynx'.... A breed from the USA... No tail and big feet : )

  • I witnessed my two cats team up and attack a young fox last night !!!!! It was trying to get to the plate where l put food out and watch, but my 2 cats were making it difficult and were obviously not happy with it in their space. This is the first time l have seen this. l have been getting lots of video footage these last few weeks of 3 foxes feeding at my open back door with the cats around, seemingly not bothered at all, as usual. But last night a fox tried to go around, behind Porky Pig....

  • ...the male as Maelona watched from 10 foot away. Pig spun around in a flash and attacked the fox, and in that same moment Maelona came across the garden like an exocet missile straight, into the fox. Perfectly synchronised !!!!! Never seen them so aggressive or working together like that.... The poor fox didnt stand a chance and had to run off real quick with 2 cats in hot pursuit. Pig and Maelona returned 5 minutes later puffing and panting.....Job done !!!!! Theres something in the air...

  • I LOVE THEM!!!!!

  • Hey, Liska (Lisa) is Russian for fox!

Pretty amazing how they share territory here.

I think that myth is based on truth though: foxes kill chickens + other small farm animals, I'd imagine it's pretty easy for them to hunt kittens.

  • Yep, Liska is a female fox in Slovak and Polish too l think..

I wouldnt be surprised if a fox went for a kitten or an old or sick cat.....but a healthy fully grown adult cat would send one away pretty quick : )

  • I'm still impressed that the UK succeeded in eradicating rabies. Makes it fun when you can observe and even feed wild animals without worrying about them spreading it. Here in central Virginia, USA, we have four or five cases of identified rabies in wild animals annually. Last year there was a rabid fox that bit several people before it could be put down. Feeding them, and attracting them to your home, is not a great idea on this side of the pond!

  • Like you say.we are real lucky here in the UK, not having rabies. We can enjoy our close interaction with these beautiful creatures with no fear. In town the worst these foxes can do is knock over your garbage can or rip open your garbage bag....no big deal really (and they dont if you give them an alternative) But in the country they can cause mahem in chicken coups at farms. Country folk arent so keen on them...which is a shame. They are so intelligent and playfull...!!!! : )

  • That's your take on them. Some english people love foxes... it's just how you view them.

  • Please forgive me if this is a silly question, and it is a little off-topic, but how can breeders breed cats with no tails by cutting off cats' tails? I know, you said this particular cat was born without a tail, as are Manxes and some other breeds/species; I am responding to a prior comment about getting cats "born tailless" by cutting off the parents' tails. How would docking the tail change the genome? Wouldn't you just have to breed short- and no-tailed cats to get cats born without tails?

  • Hiya : ) My Desert Lynxs are bred with Bobcats which l believe have no tail. I dont think cutting a cats tail off would make it have kittens with no tail.... Like you say, it wouldnt make sense,

  • I love foxes! And I love cats! (and doggies)

It's so nice seeing them peacefully in the garden <3

  • That fox looks underfead, and abused! He is skinny, and scrounging for food on the lawn! start taking care of your animals

  • If you bother to read all the comments before you jump to wrong conclusions, you wouldnt be saying that....

    Have a nice day : )

  • I doubt it's his fox. I haven't herd of somebody keeping a fox as a pet.

  • actually my mother used to keep one my father rescued as a pup, so it is possible, though unadvisable if the fox would have survived if left in the wild

  • There is actually alot of people keeping red foxes as pets. There are a few vids on youtube if you want to check them out

  • that was great, and both of them are so cute! :-)

  • Can you keep a fox as a pet?

  • Not in the UK, as far as I know....but in other countries, yes : )

  • Pills to kill it, it pills to treat it?

  • Homeopathic liquid in the jam sandwiches everyday for a couple of weeks...cured the mange : )

  • That fox is in a bad state. We had one come to the garden like that so we put the pills in its food. I think there is a charity you can call that will send them to you for free.

  • Hi, yes she had mange...we got some free stuff from the NFWS. Its in the jam sandwiches that you can see her eating : )

  • yeah the one we have now likes jam sandwiches and cat food.

  • aaaaaww thats cute

  • It depends on cat and fox people! lol its cute how they get along, but the barn cats were my horse is kept the new cat has been killing the kits and its pissing me off I love blue but why is he killing those poor little kits! But the neighboring farm has had a couple of cat get killed by the foxes too so its a relationship that can be good or bad it depends on the animals and the way they were raised!

  • He's killing the kittens because some moron lets him go in the barn where the little kittens are.

  • no the cat (blue), was killing the fox kits

  • just like in a pride, cats will also kill young that is not there own to ensure its own genes are the ones passed down.

there could be other reasons but this is one area of life you could have overlooked.

  • I saw a cat attack a fox once. It jumped on its back. I like your other clip with the snake

  • Hiya Tim, I used to have a mad female cat that used to chase and attack dogs !!!(any size)

That snake vids a giggle, catches everyone out : )

  • its probably diseased or something and cant fight

  • Hiya Tim, yep it wasn't too well..it had mange for a while. We have many perfectly healthy foxes that visit too, mainly in the evening and at night, making filming very hard. None of the foxes bother either one of my cats and they actually play together sometimes, taking it in turns to chase one another around the garden. Foxes are very smart and can be very playful..

  • Litle fox hurt :O

  • It's true. They do kill cat's. And that was just a cub... Or a VERY large cat.

I bet that baby had respect, since he was on the cat's territory.

  • Hiya, the fox is an almost fully grown female...and my cat is big. Its a 'Desert Lynx'. They play together...

  • Aww, thats cute! ^^ Foxes are such prettyful animals <3

lol, it loks a little like that one has spots XD

  • i would just like to point out that "The urban myth that foxes kill cats is very far from the truth" is not true its not an urban myth its a fact as they keep trying to kill my cat!, thats just a baby aint gonna maul the cat

  • Hiya Chris, theres been quite a lot of different views in all these comments. What I think Ive come to understand is that here in the UK, a fox is highly unlikely to take on a 'healthy adult' cat. Especialy urban foxes who have taken to scavenging for food. Very old, very young or sick cats are obviously vulnerable. This behaviour obviously varies with many different conditions and food availability found from country to country as well.

    Bazza

  • pwnt =P

sorry had to say that :]

  • yooooou bastard :P!!!

  • sorry....can you expand on that..? I dont understand what that means : )

  • cute cat!

  • Maelona is old Gaelic for 'divine princess'...and she is : )

  • nice...lol

  • foxes suck. coyotes are way better

  • The only animals that suck are leeches : )

    ...and 75% of humans.

  • Liked the video. We bought a dog bowl the other day,dog food and dog treats for our visiting foxy friend. Unfortunately our cat Tammy attacks foxy so we keep her in when feeding time approaches in the evening.

  • our cats where a bit jealous at first...but then realised they didnt like jam sandwiches, so now they just let the foxes get on with it...

  • i just like to listen to english people talk

    = )

  • Good afternoon Panterastang, how doo you dooo...? : )

  • wow! Baz how many foxes visit u??

  • Generaly one or two at a time....though we have had 5 or 6 at one time !!! I find them facinating..a wild animal, able to keep its independence in modern cities.. : )

  • Great video! You can see how starving that poor guy was just by clicking from the beginning of the video to the end a few times. His belly gets huge at the end! It's good to know he's getting some good food, he looked kinda skimpy.

  • LOL

  • kool

  • that fox looks like its got rabies

  • we dont have rabies in the UK, luckily.. It had mange, which we treated... : )

  • So you guys own the fox? if you do, is a fox a great pet?

  • As far as I know, its illegal to keep a fox as a pet here in the UK.. Anyone know for sure..?

  • Well, it's official: last week I personally watched an ordinary (feral) cat kick a fox's butt three times, while two other foxes looked on. The cat was the aggressor all the way. The fox wanted nothing to do with it. One other fox- a big one- moved in on the cat and the cat froze him with a stare. The fox backed off and sat down.

  • Wow.... That sounds intense. Shame you didnt get it on video !!! 3-1 !!!! Go there 'sweet lil' pussy cat : )

  • It would have made an amazing YouTube clip...that was one tough kitty! He froze them all with looks (gave me the same one when I congratulated him, and nearly froze me!) and then turned his back on them as if they weren't even there.

I have definitely noticed how timid the foxes are, but this was still a shock. I was afraid I was going to see a terrible massacre, and instead saw the Dirty Harry of tabbies...

  • what was the fox eating?

  • Jam sandwiches with homeopathic medicine for the 'mange'...They have a sweet tooth, which is useful, so my cats dont try to steal it. When I put dog food out, my 2 cats help themselves, even though they are fed well : ) (greedy little pests)

  • our fox is a baby. he loves to sleep on our lawn chair.

  • the fox looks so cute:D

  • (Continued. Last post for this, I swear!!!) I've seen a video (I think it was one of those fox documentaries for some part of England) where the people got mad at the foxes because they gnawed through a flimsy wire--chicken wire, I think, which I think even I could pull apart with my teeth if I tried enough. So here's the idea; get a better fence! :D

It sucks. Since Hawaii is such an isolated island when it comes to animals (no wild snakes, thank goodness!) we have no foxes. And I love foxes!

  • (Continued...) I think Warriors is a good example between territorial cats and territorial foxes. They just won't get along too well when there are limited resources, or if either side feels threatened. And big cats can take down foxes, and foxes can take down cats, but in the end, it all depends on the animals' personality, hunger and instinct. As for eating chickens, the fox is also an opporotunist. If they can get it, they'll eat it. So I suggest getting better fencing.

  • It all depends on the foxes' individual personality, and its hunger. Generally, foxes will not attack a cat or animal that is a considerable amount bigger than it. Though, they can be aggressive, but that's just a defensive nature. Their normal prey are smaller animals (rats, birds, etc.) but they normally don't :eat: a cat they killed, unless their hungry. It's normally that they feel threatened, or it entered what it decided to make its territory. Or, it has kits nearby.

  • Foxes are shy, they aren't vicious killers like people think. They scare easily and there is no way they would go after something that could tango with them, like a cat or dog.

  • The fox is just eating to his heart's content while the cat is having a cat-bath.Now where can you see that happen every day?

  • Foxes are not dogs, they are related to the cat family actually.

  • That sounds quite mad..? Is that for real, or are you on a wind-up..?

  • I was incorrect, I thought I had heard that but checked it out and foxes are part of the canine family after all. Sorry about that!

  • No worries : ) They are very small and quite delicate looking..nothing like a big dog or wolf

  • Is this a red fox? I have many just like this in my back yard in the American South, but with blacker legs. They don't look like the usual red fox to me, and some have black-tipped tails. Thanks for any help...Great video, by the way!

  • Yep its a red fox...should have white bits but it was unwell and had a very poor fur coat...

  • Thanks- are the black-tipped tails normal for a red fox?

  • As far as I know, all UK foxes have white bits.. Not sure about elsewhere..

    There are some fantastic fox vids at;

    Good luck : )

  • Thanks very much- very helpful. I haven't ruled out that mine could be kit foxes or swift foxes or a hybrid...but most of the ones I see are very young. Probably reds. Some black tails, some white. Anyway, they're my pals! Thanks again!

  • fox cant beat fully grown male cat. cat can well defend against fox, cat is faster and have five sharp nail.

  • As adorable as the video is, that text is very misleading and can be dangerous. Hungry foxes killing cats is no myth, and sometimes even full cats and foxes behave badly and incite deadly fights. So while I'm glad that Liska and Maelona get along so well, you shouldn't allow other to think that their cat will have the same patience and luck.

  • As Ive said many times...here in the UK, urban foxes dont go after healthy adult cats. To much easier food about : )

  • Brilliant video. 5 Stars

  • it depends on the fox and the cat

  • oh, well keep your cat away from the ones in colorado U.S. lol

  • omfg! are you insane!??? wtf are you doing letting your cat near one. they eat cats and i should know cause i saw one eating mine. you were lucky that one was preoccupied.

  • read through the comments. they dont eat cats here..not fully grown healthy cats. my cats play with several foxes that visit us...

  • That cat acts like the "purrfect straight man.."

  • Never saw a fox in real life...but really like them.

    Nice video ^^
