  • You need to speak about half the speed you did because you give the impression that you have only a casual interest in the subject and complicated ideas need time to be processed.

  • but how could he travel faster than the speed of light?

  • Donnie Darko was filmed in only 28 days...holy shit.

  • oops just saw last part...disregard my previous question

  • OK, WTF is the fat guy that is standing around several times watching Gretchen and Donnie? Just a Manipulated Living dude?

  • Everything suddenly makes so much more sense... O-O

And for the most part, he's just a fat guy. That made me laugh. :D

  • good job

  • You can't explain a movie by starting off with the phrase, "so here we go. About 1/2 way through the movie." Wait, what? This is just another lame attempt by some one tying to make himself a new Redlettermeida, Confused Matthew, or SFDebris. This does not explain the movie to 'we who didn't get it.' It's just what this guy took away from the movie. There are 50 different explanations that claim to be what the movie is "really" about. This one is no better or worse but 100% explained? No.

  • @kalelwannabe This review reminds me of the die hard Star Trek TMP fans who insist that the reason you didn't like the film was because it was too cerebral. Though that is not the claim this guy is making it's still an attempt to say that "he gets it" when by the very short 1/2 done review he clearly does not. My advise watch the film for yourself and make up your own mind. Reviews an attempt to make a movie fit into the his own personal frames of reference so that it makes sense.

  • so can someone help me ? if the engine crashed in his room again at the end wouldn't that restart the whole thing ? bcs its an artifact and it was to be returned ?

  • @ljoshuapvl no, his destiny was to die to save everyone, if he dosnt die then the world will be destroyed. 5:12 that explains everything, everyone dies and the events are making Doonie realize that he needs to die to save everyone in the world. if he dosnt then he will die 2, or it will keep restarting untill he relizes what he has 2 do

  • Yes but, why did he have to die? I mean, the artifact is still there - either he dies or not, so why does his death save the universe?

  • @PaniGrejfrut watch the directors cut it makes more sense

  • This is all very interesting. I do however think, that there are two sides to the movie. The one you explained, and the other one, being a look into the mind of a skitzofrenic teenager. And his death at the end of the movie, could be interpreted as him sadly giving into his illness, and disapearing completely into madness.

  • @ParanoidParkProject Now see, here's a free thinking individual. He saw DD, made up his own mind. Looked to see what others had to say, yet still maintains that there is another way of looking at the story. Bravo! Until the writer posts DD Explained 100% I'm sticking with my own synopsis. DD was dream/remembering all that of crazy shit, Frank/ghost was his guilt over the murder, and his smile at the end was him coming to terms with the idea of dying alone. DD was a nut-ball.

  • @kalelwannabe And he was trying to make sense of his life the best way he could. The idea that everyone in the film was helping him see what his "destiny" was is text book psychosis for a paranoid schizophrenic. I.E. Everything in the world is about me. He was an outsider so he invented a girlfriend based on someone he had seen and probably never spoken to. Then creates a scenario where his noble sacrifice is the only way to save her.

  • Can I really appreciate a movie that has to be explained to me????

    NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how do we know that the closest person to the artifact has super strength, fire/water manipulation, and telekinesis?

  • Thank you so much for this. Awesomeness squared.

  • Great explanation of the movie! I do think though, that Frank was not only another of the manipulated dead, but existed to make Donnie feel normal. As well as Gretchen, Frank was there to accompany Donnie, make him feel less lonely. Also, he was there to make him/help him believe that the world is going to end and that Donnie must save it.

  • hey im confused how the jet engine just appeared outta nowhere in the primary universe and started the tangent universe, how did it just appear in the primary universe

  • whats the song at the end where you talk about donnie and grechen?

    9:03

  • how does the engine still have an explanation when his mother and sister are still alive? if the plane they were on never actually existed in the primary universe than the engine still came out of no where,. that's what i'm getting confused about the most.

  • @hunnie14 It kind of doesnt, but at the start of the film it comes from the TU to the PU as a corruption, so it would destroy the PU. They dont know where it came from because it hasnt happened yet so to speak. So in the TU (where the 28 days of the film take place) donnie sends it through a wormhole rather than it being a corruption. In the PU after donnies death they never do find an explanation for it, so donnie sent it there rather than it being a corruption and destroying the PU

  • @CocaColaSloth haha thank you for the explanation. Time travel topics in general have always given me a headache. This movie does have awesome parts to it but I've never liked the time travel stuff for some reason.

  • @CocaColaSloth so how does the corruption happen in the first place then? haha unless that is just left unexplained.

  • @hunnie14 yeah me too, but there was no actual ''time travel'' at all the 28 days was in a TU which happened almost in a split second of PU time. I beleieve that the TU is a copy of the PU and there was some sort of glitch or error so it was dumped on donnies room. another theory is that its the same engine Donnie sends through the portal from the plane his mother and sister were on. The engine travels through time and lands on Donnie's house. but i am not sure on this one haha. Thanks though :).

  • 10:26 You just had to mention the line that makes me cry....

  • Thanks for the explanation!

  • "an occurance at owl creek bridge" is this film simplified. wikipedia it

  • I mostly agree with your explanation of the movie, except for the ending. What's your reasoning that Donnie goes to sleep thinking that it was all a dream and then dies alone in the Primary Universe?

Honestly I don't think there IS an explanation for the ending. It's completely open to interpretation.

  • Everybody got that?

  • i still dont get why he has to relive these days over and over, what is it thats keeping reality from being destroyed? its like fate is just waiting for him to save reality. what is keeping the world from ending???

  • @ThePeacocksTail Ahhh, I'm with you now. Still weird though. Most films don't need its own documentary to explain the story.

  • after watching Donnie Darko, i feel bored watching movies that make sense ^^

good explanation, similar to mine, except i always thought the artifact at the beginning came from a crashed aeroplane 28 days in the future, where the engine fell into a portal, hence creating the tangent/alternative universe, which can only last as long as the primary universe did until the engine fell through the portal, i.e. 28 days.

  • when did he shoot the guy in the eye though??

  • Comment removed

  • @VerityIsabelle95 When he runs over gretchen with his car, Donnie has his dads gun and shoots frank.

  • Hang on, if the jet engine crashes again at the end of the film, another tangent universe would be created with Donnie as the manipulated dead. RIDDLE ME THAT!

  • @yakattack82 I think the answer is that the primary universe is full of wormholes/portals. At the beginning when Donnie dodges the jet engine (the artifact) it actually came from the primary universe into the tangent universe. When the jet engine crashes again at the end of the film, it's the other way around, it's coming from the tangent universe, back to the primary universe.

1st crash: Future primary --> Tangent past

2nd crash: Tangent future --> Primary past

    Make sense? :)

  • @ThePeacocksTail Oh & Roberta Sparrow was able to write the book because she herself survived a tangent universe in which she was the Living Receiver. I can't remember if he mentioned that, but overall a really good explanation of the movie.

  • @ThePeacocksTail

Yeah, I agree with your assessment there. The paradox created by the artifact (the jet engine) in turn created the Tangent Universe. Or something... it does get confusing, eh?

  • Thanks mate, I had completely misunderstood and knew nothing about the universes thing. It all makes a lot more sense now

  • thanks for the obvious

  • I always took his laughter at the end as more of an acceptance of everything, or even happiness. Like he's finally okay with dying alone, okay with setting the world back on track, okay with sacrificing himself for Gretchen and everyone else-----or even jumping back to the quote on "I hope that when the world comes to an end, I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to."-- like he's looking forward to the real world and all the stuff he plans on doing.

  • This was an awesome explanation.

  • First time I watched this movie I didn't get it at all. I understood it completely ( the way I see it ) the 3rd time. It is about time travel, although I never thought about parallel universes, mainly cos I find that idea a little bizarre, meaning I do not believe in it. Donnie's only reason, to me, to go back in time, is the girl. Although, why does the girl not remember him? The pedo seems to remember what happened...

  • could someone explain to me the significance of it being set in the late 80's? I mean it just as well could have been set in modern times. I'm analyzing this for English and am trying to understand all the symbols.

  • @Arbiter567 It was when the director was teenager, So he knew what teen life consisted of during that time period.

  • what can i say, i have watched the movie at least 15 times. i love it. I have come away with like 7 different way to understand it, but your explanation really hits the nail...

  • i love you<3

  • my friend hated this movie because he didnt understand it... -_-

  • the rabbit saves his life right? cos if he didnt hear frank speaking wouldnt he of been killed by that plane, cos he was outside when he woke up, then after that he started seeing frank he said he was gonna die and all that shit made him wanna find out about that time travveling stuff so eventually he went back in time but died..

but why did the rabit appear anyway if he was already gonna die... and why did donnie wana die

  • but he only was able to send it back in time becuase he wasnt killed. so when he kills himself at the end doesnt that mean that the engine couldnt have been sent back at all

  • not gonna lie u made it 5 times more confusing

  • Couple questions. Why does Frank appear before the artifact appears, and why does he transfer from the creepy future reading guy to just the normal Frank? Also, how does the artifact appear in the first place?

  • @MrWhod When frank appears they are already in the tangent universe. The manipulative dead can travel back in time so he's sort of a ghost that appears before he died. The manipulative know that the world is going to end, after Donnie sends the artifact back in time all of the people inside the tangent universe only have a few recollections of what happened inside the Tangent universe. We don't know why the artifact appeared in the first place.

  • according to the director's cut on the dvd the rabbit represented divine intervention

  • this movie makes me feel ill at ease...

  • The thing coming out of their bodies is time or duration. A 4th dimensional attribute, the ability to see in the 4th dimension.

  • @CheeseyGreg ..... It came back because Donnie Darko made it come back. To save the world from end....

  • Why did the artifact return?

  • so basically this is groundhog day x28, because donnie's laughing. Why? He REMEMBERED that entire tangent universe experience. So that means this had happened before. Here's the ironic twist. The Universe survived because Donnie sent the turbine back. But, if donnie is now dead, and the turbine still appears, then now they still have 28 days to live. Therefore, either the primary Universe has to keep recreating the entire UNiverse (so that Donnie doesn't die) or, her sister has to send it back.

  • @BropagandaStudios that is true, (i think the director purposley did that for continuation), so you can imagine what happens after when donnie realizes his mistake and must go back in time to prevent that from happening

  • @BropagandaStudios Wrong. The jet engine fell from a different plane the second time. Remember the mother of Samantha said she was going on the Red Ribbon Airplane to Darko at the Halloween party? that explained the propellers. That plane, without the family members, was the plane that had the jet engine fall off.

  • how the fuck does he return the fucking artifact when it kills him?

how about he just traveled trough time to save his family and his girlfriend and not to save the world...

  • You know a film is good when it takes 10 minutes to explain the damn thing

  • I do not agree on some points here. First of all, not everyone helps Donny, but only literature and physics teachers do. Some people also think they were some kind of angels(remember the 6 seconds scene, where this 2 teachers were sitting together, one said "Donny Darko?", other replied "yes"). Secondly, i do not really think donny had any extra powers. Lastly, (in my opinion), at 6:22 man is crying not because of his arrest and house fire in other realm, but because he is the only one feared.

  • This might sound noobish, but why could Frank manipulate Donnie at the beginning of the film? I understand the people who die i the Tangent universe become the manipulated dead, but Frank gets killed by Donnie later on in the film yet he is still able to manipulate before he dies. And is Gretchen able to interact with Donnie after she dies?

  • @GorillaDaVillain He said that those 28 days repeated several times before Donnie actually was able to.. accept the jet engine killing him alone.

  • @GorillaDaVillain Frank can manipulate him because the event has already happened and the engine takes a while to get to his room. (It does have to travel from another universe after all.) Everybody that has helped Donnie ( The Manipulated living ) has to die because they helped Donnie. It is explained in the pages of the POTT book and on the DD site that the paedophile killed himself, the science teacher got hit by a car etc.

  • thanks so much, I watched the directors cut and it was confusing as fuck. Got it now!

  • When Donnie sends the jet engine back through the portal into the past, it travels backwards through the tangent universe until the moment it appeared on earth, am i right? But the moment it appeared, Donnie wasn't in his bed. He was at the golf course. Frank brought him to the golf course before the tangent universe even existed and a while before the artifact appeared. So how does Donnie die? He should have still been at the golf course when he woke up, therefore surviving.

  • @Pr4sEoDyMiUm but the tangent universe began when the artifact entered the primary universe, which is why frank even appeared. So, after he sends it back, frank never appears and donnie dies.

  • @TheJonLogan It doesn't matter. The artifact doesn't travel to another dimension, it travels back in time directly through the tangent universe until the moment it appeared. The moment it appeared, donnie wasn't in his bed, he was at the golf course. He shouldn't have died.

  • @Pr4sEoDyMiUm I think that the TU starts as soon as the artifact (jet engine) enters the PU. Frank calls donnie out of his house before the artifact hits donnies bedroom (maybe its falling in the sky?) The 28 days when the film takes place is all in the tangent universe, up until donnie creates the wormhole and sends the artifact back. resulting in him waking up in the PU as soon as the artifact enters the PU killing him shortly after. just my idea hope this helps :)

  • @CocaColaSloth So you're saying that it appears in the universe before donnie gets out of his bed but it takes until donnie is at the golf course and has already talked to frank to hit the house? Even if it appeared at the very top of the earth's atmosphere, i don't think that makes a lot of sense.

  • @Pr4sEoDyMiUm well im not sure then because at the end of the film as soon as he comes out of the TU it hits him more or less seconds after, unless the TU started as soon as he fell asleep on the golf course, i dont know.

  • First video I favorited in a long time. Thanks man.

  • Accurate!

    And...

That is why "fear" and "love" are 2 of the "strongest emotions"

  • I can see the fire manipulation maybe, but there was no water manipulation. He put his axe into the main water pipe and then the water did what it would naturally do, it flooded the school.

  • @EdwardNygma1 no but it kept coming the plumber was saying i dont know whats happening it just wont stop

  • Great explanation by the way, but i think everybody can explain it in their own way, and it would still make sense. I think the way you explaned this is probably the best ive seen, but everybody (or most smart people) can make an ethical explanation.

  • Well wait a minute... If that jet engine was an artifact, an Donny retrieves it to its right place, but he goes back into the past and the SAME engine falls on him and kills him, then how will it be taken back again? Does the universe end? Or does someone else have to take it back???

  • @bamaboyeez i know so confusing

  • FINALLY, someone has the freaking GUYS to explain this AWESOME movie!

  • Also, I think destiny was a big part in this movie. He gets the chance to see his "path" when he is getting the gun thus giving him the chance to defy his god given destiny but if he were to not follow it he would continue to live in the tangent universe because he would not kill frank and not be woken up. Its saying fate is permenent and although we make our own decsions its has already been decided. great video and great explaination!

  • Wow amazing shit have to see this movie

  • Why is Frank the Manipulated Dead, but not Gretchen? Both died while in the tangent universe? Is it because Frank killed Gretchen? The rule seemed to state that any that die in the tangent universe would be Manipulated Dead more powerful than the Living Receiver (Donnie) and would have 4th dimensional powers. Just curious if there is a why to it.

  • the idea of dying alone sad

  • Excellent explanation explanation my good man.

  • But the irtifact returned and killed Donny? Now he's dead so everthing he did was in vain an there's no one to send it back again. And by the fact that it came back means the universe primary universe is once again in danger But now Donny is dead wtf? Could some one please explain

  • I liked your explaination but i think this movie is supposed to be abstract. It means what it means to you, like a painting. Only thing I think we can all agree on is donnie saved the universe.

  • Good explanation man, good work. Ive seen this movie hundreds of times and never understood it lol

  • Donnie Darko knew he was going to die, not that it was a dream. He's laughing because hes happy he saved everybody.

  • @quacksandflacks I agree

  • i feel like your only pulling out facts and info that support your explaintion, not to menition most of your fact are opinions. this isnt a essay of anwser, its just an essay. good writer leave room for the readers "or in this case viewers" own interpretations.

  • Wait wait.

Does he think it was just a dream? I´m pretty sure he could know what is going to happen, but does still decide to stay in bed.

  • apparently Frank is Donnie's sister's boyfriend, probably just a rumour though

  • for the most part, was a good explanation on the scientific side. but what about the religious view? totally missing . you know the angels, demons, Jesus and Satan and the whole armageddon lol. that had a huge part to do with this movie. if you cant see that then your worse off then blind. not saying that this video is wrong, just missing alot. i mean you dont even have to be religious to get what im saying. im not even saying that i myself am religious. its just right there in black and white.

  • HOLY FUCK!

The fat guys is a spy D:

  • Mother of God..... o.O

  • dafuq

  • Thanks for the video, even if it's not the real meaning to the writer, it's a great explanation.

  • No matter the interpretation, it was a great mind-bending movie, and has a special place in my video library.

  • At least 80x more trippy than Inception.

And used 100x less explosions and CGI...

  • No way! He was takin' meds, which caused him to be different than what was supposed to be. He woke up in a Golf Course. He was supposed to be in that bed. When he didn't die, it caused a ripple in fate, and let Frank come back and get ahold of Donny, to let him know that things were fucked up. Donny figured it all out, and put himself where he was supposed to be. and turned the clock back, saving all the people that died because he didn't get sqished when he was supposed to be.

  • @mtngi in the director's his therapist explains that he doesn't even need to take the meds because they are placebos. This explanation is 100% correct.

  • Thank man, this explained it, lol.

  • Interesting, thanks a lot

  • A couple of holes? Don't get me wrong, I love this movie. But Donnie Darko had more leaks than the Iraqi Navy! As for it being Donnie's "duty" to get the artifact back to the right universe. He was not even in the house when it fell, meaning any one of his family members were way closer to it than he was when it appeared, so that idea is flawed. You have a vivid imagination and good observation, but you are trying to make sense out of a movie that was likely intended to fuck with it's audience.

  • @leroyatleroys he was out of the house in the tangent universe. In the primary he was in bed where he was supposed to be.

  • @IamSherbzz If that were true then there would be no need for the events that occur in the first place, enforcing the point that this film does not make sense. Still enjoyable.

  • Dude, i guess you didnt understood this nice movie. How could Frank first appears BEFORE the accident? There is a time loop theory on the film that you just didnt mentioned. Think about it...

  • 06:45 The "bitchy lady" was associated with Patrick Swayze BEFORE Donnie flooded the school. In the beginning of the movie she is seen with Swayze during the slow-mo part.

  • bravo

  • Donny Darko is a Schitzo is what it is.

  • thanks that helped a lot

  • Sounds like an accurate explanation to me, its a lot better my theory. :)

My theory was that after Donnie killed Frank, his ghost was able to go back in time and deliberately create a tangent universe by manipulating Donnie in order to have his revenge on him for murdering him. But, of course; that doesn't explain everything. :P

  • Just watched the movie for the first time and I thought you did a great job with the explination. Now if I can only hear what the little kid had to say when he said what happened at the end of the movie. Anyways great stuff man. thank

  • I'm 6:00 in and this explanation only reveals what a complete mess the original movie was, concept-wise. Kevin Smith even mocked Richard Kelly on their mutual commentary for the film when Kelly tried explaining it, pointing out that Richard seemed confused by his own movie.

IGNORE THESE EXPLANATIONS. THEY MAKE IT WORSE. WATCH THE ORIGINAL FILM, IT IS ACCIDENTALLY GOOD AND WORKS BETTER WHEN YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND IT.

  • Thanks for explaining much of the film, now I understand why Donnie ending up in bed again laughing.

And I also know why Frank is wearing that rabbit costyme. It was his Halloween costymet when hi died, and when he died in the costume, he must go with it for the rest of eternity

  • dropped acid and watched this movie the other day

  • so the coke bottle in The Gods Must Be Crazy was an artifact this whole time...mind blown

  • @rayjay2789 but didn't you already know that. does the fact that its called an artifact blow your mind. its just a name, the significance of the coke bottle is pretty clear with or without that label. its just jargon, enjoy the movie.

  • Is there any significance to "Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?"?

  • There is no real true meaning of the film, jackass. Everyone interprets the movie their own way. There is no need for a scientific explanation for a movie.

  • so the jet engine which kills donnie is the same engine which was on the plane his mother was on

So it must of originally fell threw a portal (remembering that portals can open up anywhere, also the jet engine is metal) which would explain how it magically appeared. Also just a thought that gretiches what ever the fuck her name is death made her become a manipulated spirit which gave donnie the sense he wasn't alone?

  • if the artifcat came back and killed him wouldnt that bring the tangent universe back? who will return the artifact? thats all i need to know

  • I agree with someone else here that said Donnie was smiling because he realized he did the right thing. He also accepted that everyone dies alone but at least he got to experience life -even if the events he experienced do not remain- and developed a sense of identity by asserting himself before he died-hallmarks of the tasks of being a teenager.

  • what if he didnt return the artifact?

  • im i the still the only one who dosent understand fuck?

  • watch this while baked. your mind is going to be fucken blown.

  • @MOONMAHN512 dude i just did and youre so fucking right

  • why does his gf not remember him after he saved the world when she asked what happened and she was asked DID YOU KNOW HIM she said NO so if every wakes up in there sleep remembering why does she not ?????

  • @joshmn82

DREAMS When the Manipulated awaken from their Journey into the Tangent Universe, they are often haunted by the experience in their dreams. Many of them will not remember. Those who do remember the journey are often overcome with profound remorse for the regretful actions buried within their dreams, the only physical evidence buried within the artifact itself; all that remains from the lost world.

  • @robochicken36 but that's only in the director's cut. For everyone else who sees the normal version of the movie, it makes no sense.

  • @brian92992 If you refer to the Philosophy of Time Travel and it's chapter on Artefacts, I think it says that an Artefact is all the first sign that a tangent universe has occurred. It goes on to say that it is all that remains of a lost world. In essence, the artefact isn't the danger, it's the space/time damage that follows a tangent universe this is. Donnie, however, has corrected this.

  • Duration continues, meaning that more than 28 days would have passed, therefore, the imperfections in the universes would tear both apart. Google 'ruined eye' and find the pages there.

  • @Brian92992 please find a like to photocopies of the pages of the philosophy of time travel, in which the roles of the Manipulated Living and Dead are found, complete with a list of who's who in the tangent.

I'm glad that everybody is getting involved and expressing their opinions about the piece, but if we're to interpret the inner workings of it in the Director's explanation, then it's worth nothing that Donnie's tangent universe only happens ONCE. Even if it looped and kept resetting, durati

  • WAIT a minute. Although the jet engine kills Donnie in the end, it is still an artifact, so that would mean Primary Universe is still in trouble..right?? How does Donnie's death by the engine save the universe???

  • smart ass. i do like it i wish more people would do what you are doing. good job bro

  • woah man, now i understand it... its even more trippy

  • your explanation was very good, and made me appreciate the movie a lot more, but if a movie only makes sense because the viewer is knowledgeable about tangent universes and whatnot, then it is not a good movie.

  • I reckon donnie was fucking up the time paradox over and over again, the reason why hes apparently prone to "sleep walking" miles away from home (eg. how he woke, or wakes, up on a golf course) and how he wakes up in the forest at the start, probably a result of his super powers. But he probably dismisses it as a dream, akin to when Donnie, after fixing the black hole in the Universe, seems to remember what he did in the past 28 days.

  • Your theory sounds interesting.

  • what kind of fucktard must one be not to understand this fucken movie. you 12 y.o. retards make me enraged

  • I really like this movie, and it was stunningly written, but your (very good) essay has made me think its just a load of guff! I thought the movie had some kind of basis in science but really its just guff.

  • @yael53209 she was one of the manipulated dead

  • and grechin, the girl, died in the tangent universe too so why does donnie only see frank?

  • wat about the grandmaother death? wats up with her?

  • Your next tasks will be Mulholland Drive and End of Evangelion. Good luck, young grasshopper.

  • @UnchartedYT Mullholland drive -> dream in which one of the bitches thinks she's the other one. She (Naomi Watts) wakes up in the end, understands she's not this famous actress but in fact quite the opposite and is so upset she shoots herself.

  • @casperado666 Not a bad try, but really all you did was copy Naomi Watts' interpretation (the most common one) which leaves the man behind Winkie's, Justin Theroux's character, the cowboy, and the assassin dude who had to kill three people either unexplained, unfinished, or irrelevant stuff that Lynch threw in for shits and giggles. I think there's way more to it than just a dream revealed as a tragedy.

  • @Xxrr23 can do one for source code i sub if you do.

  • @TheKmsaboor that movie was so fucken primitive brah

  • I understand! I thought within the split second of him dying that his life flashed before his eyes and sentimental cheesy crap like that. I still have one question. Was Roberta Sparrow a real person? And did she write a book?

  • @cheeseisniceable Roberta is 100% real, and she definitely DID write that book!

One possible theory as to her immense knowledge on the subject of time travel is that she has existed as a prominent character in a tangent universe before, as one of the manipulated dead, perhaps. Therefore, she was gifted with insight in a former tangent universe, and wrote a book about it in the primary universe!

  • I love this. Straightforward, dedicated guide to understanding the basics of this film!

Quick note: there are only two manipulated dead, as only two people die in Donnie's life. They are Frank and Gretchen. Everybody else is the Manipulated Living.

Perhaps, provide your perspective on how exactly Roberta Sparrow is as omniscient enough to write literature on the exact philosophy of time travel - id love to hear your perspective! Thanks for this!

  • @WithaJCB I think you're wrong about the manipulated dead. Everyone in the movie (except Donnie) was the manipulated dead because, as Xxrr23 stated, the Tangent Universe collapsed numerous times before Donnie decided to fix it (although I'm not clear on how the Tangent Universe "restarted" after each collapse). Therefore, all of the people in that universe have actually died, and are in fact, the manipulated dead.

  • His mother and sister appear in the last scene. Alive. But, wouldn't his mother and sister have died after the plane crashes when the jet engine falls off. Therefore, how does his sister star in her own film, S.Darko. A follow up about the sister 7 years later?

  • @XxMistiqlilyxX his mother and sister in the plane are from the other universe, i think thats it anyways, i watch alot of Fringe :')

  • MIND FUCK
