@WarpeaceWar6 The Mac Store ended up giving me a new one :D The broken hinge seemed to be a defect amongst the first generation of Macbook Airs. Hence, they gave me a new one, with the redesigned hinge. Disappointed that all my files are gone off my old one, but I really can't complain. And you're definately right, Mac's retain their value years after their release.

I love this!!!! I've done this myself with a Mac. Not because of a broken hinge or broken anything. But because it worked "like it should" and absolutely sucked. After ten days of ten crashes (at least) while editing photos in photoshop, I chucked it in the street, ran it over with my car, picked up all the shit pieces (and fifty screws, just to get at the hard drive), put it all in the original box, and sent it registered to Apple.

Quite odd you should recommend an IBM because although pretty good, the three I've used have all broken on the thin right hand edge next to the CD ROM drive because of the pressure from the lid. So no better than the mac at all.

What the hell did you do with your MacBook Air? I've looked all around the internet for MacBook Air Hinge potential issues, and you are the really only one I see that much severely broken. All others have either minor hinge looseness or hinge being misaligned which can be fixed quickly.

I'm sorry to suspect you about that, but I really think that your MBA have received shocks to have this problem, or maybe really bad usage (did you use to open the screen with only one hand, for example??).
