where's the rest of the band? they brought dave weckerman to play tambourine, couldn't they afford the other 2? strange to hear them without that pounding rhythm section, wonder if they had to tell shaffer's band to simplify things a bit
Just saw them play last weekat Maxwell's and they were amazing. I;ve seen them dozens of times and that was probably the best show I have ever seen them play. If you get a chance to see them, by all means go.
Early alternative sound? Why not rocknroll? (Or American Beat) It seems rnr is in the genes of some american musicians. Its clearly the case of these people: one of the greatest bands of the last 25 years.
Crazy Rhythms is amazing, The Good Earth is owesome and Its Only Life is another REAL must-have!
these guys dont sound to bad. these guys' genre is like the early alternative sound, right? they sound pretty good. i read on wikipedia under the article for 'alternative rock' that combine punk influences with like a folk sound
yeah, i would say alternative. "First Wave" Alternative (to be exact), like The Minutemen, Husker Du, etc, bands that grew out of the punk scene. Still punk, but with more musicianship
Sorry Songlover08,The Pixies were influenced by the Feelies, not the other way around. Now if you said "Velvet Underground anyone?", then you'd have something. Think before you post. That's all.:]
I remember this performance live when I was in college and had just started a band. I just got the same feeling again. You know the one where you go "yea, THAT's rock n roll!"
I saw them in Chicago in 1984. I loved it, have all their stuff. I didn't know they were on Letterman. I wonder if they are together at all now, 2008?
They've reunited this past year, several reunion shows and are back in the studio. They play on New Years with Yo La Tengo in Montclair NJ. They look older but damn, they sound exactly the same. It's like 17 years has just slipped away. It's incredible.
yeah, the FEELIES deserved so much more recognition than they got. their twin guitar attack reminds me of another great band, TELEVISION. in both cases - guitar heaven!!!
I had this on cassette tape....man, I used to blast this song in my Mazda 323! I agree with the Zevon comparison. I STILL love this song. I searched for it on here a while back and found nothing. Thanks a million! Man, am I old. LOL!
All of their stuff is great, but I really love this record.

HOW have I not heard of them before tonight? All those years I could have been listening to this fantastic music, wasted.

Good reference Alessieta. Television obviously influenced the Feelies quite a bit. Television was a good 6 years before The Feelies.
