Rick perry looks more like a pepsodent commercial than a presidential candidate . romney is the only polition who has talked about the fact congress raided the ss trust fund. I am not a republican but he earned some respect just for telling it like it is. Social Security is extremely successful and many people depend on it. Perry just wants to help destroy it since the financial sector and the very rich benefit from it being destroyed and privatized in some way. The rich have been opposed to it since 1930 for those reasons and Perry is a dirt-bag.

Listen: I'd rather have Perry; because he speaks the truth. He didn't say rid SS. It's possible that some may not receive SS. I wouldn't go so far to say Ponzi Scheme; but that's the way many people feel. What about the way they did Reverend Wright, Resko, Raines, etc. The media will spin this and transform Perry into our 2012 Bush. Maybe it's time to change SS. Maybe we should be able to invest half into the stock market.

Thats what we have nearly failed to achieve. Social Security in European States on the other hand is a long story of success, as well as Unions and workers rights. I think you should pay attention to they way this has been done and reject it if you have really thought it over and found reasons against it.

It is numerically impossible to sustain a poorly designed system based on the next generation paying your way. Besides you were expected to die at age 62. If you expect government bureaucrats to prove you with "security" in your old age then you are in for a disappointment. I believe that if you pay into something your entire life then it should be an investment and you should own it and have some control over it. Social Security was never saved or invested...it was spent immediately.

You'd be lucky to find a retirement and insurance plan of similar complexity with an administrative fee less than five or 10 times that ratio. Social security surplus was invested in govt bonds. Of course it was spent right away, that's why govt borrows money, to spend it right away. You're clueless.
